It's Official: last year of Osborne Lights

Glad we decided to do a holiday trip this year. We have not been during the holidays since 2007 and my kids do not remember the Osbourne Lights but I am excited they will get to see them at least once more and hopefully this time they will remember then. Sad to see them go but I can't say this is a huge surprise with all the expansion. WDW is always changing....

I am TOTALLY bummed about this. I've seen these several times over the past few years and it will just not be the same without them.

Disney, if you're reading this, please re-consider relocating them. There are a multitude of fans that absolutely love this display.

Thank you for the details Tristan. Your family created something pretty amazing here that will never be forgotten. I believe I read before you come down every year and have dinner with the crew. I hope your family has a wonderful trip and final experience at the lights.
Thank you! And yes we will be down for a couple of weeks to turn the lights on a few times and then to finally turn them off on the last night. We've been very blessed to be able to bring the lights to so many people and never in Jennings wildest dreams did he imagine that the lights would have such an impact on so many people.

does this happen every night?

Yes. Nightly from Nov 06, 2015 - Jan 03, 2016.

Just a point of clarification: there are typically one or two nights that the event is closed to the public and used for a private event. I believe one is for CMs, and the other maybe Pop Warner. At least one of those is in early December if I recall correctly.

Ah yeah. The legacy award night, right?

yes, November 17th is the CM party, park closes at 4pm and December 9th park closes at 6pm

Very disappointed they are not finding a new home for the lights.

We were privileged to be there last Christmas and the lights were the highlight of our trip. Breathtakingly awesome!!

We are going at Thanksgiving and it will be our first time to see them. Also, my MIL will be with us viewing them for the first time and she LOVES Christmas just as much as I go...very thankful we will have a chance to see them before they go!!

Darn, we are going for a quick two park day trip and I was thinking of adding a hopper just to see these. Sadly, our day would be Nov 17th so that won't work. I don't think there is anything else I could change in our trip. Oh well. Add it to the list of things I never saw (adventurers club, alien encounter) before it closed.

A thought crossed my mind- why not move it to Disney Springs? The shops would love the extra foot traffic and the lights would be free to all.

That thought crossed my mind also. It would put people into a real spending mood and boost sales and restaurant traffic also. And since my home resort is SSR, a DS view would be a plus in seeing these twinkle each night!

Last year was the first time we saw them and while we never planned on going back to Disney again for the holidays, knowing this is the last year for the Lights, this is making me reconsider it.

I wonder if there is any way that they would extend the Lights a bit longer into January to give more people a chance to see them.

We scheduled this year's trip around MNSSHP and HHN. FINALLY got an ADR for Wishes Dessert Party last week. I am seriously considering moving the trip back now. I can't imagine not seeing these one last night. :(

As you plan ahead, we also wanted you to know that this holiday season will mark the finale for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The display of lights has enjoyed a successful run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, going all the way back to when it first appeared on Residential Street.

In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land, we will not be able to present The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in the future. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the family of Jennings Osborne for letting us share their family tradition year after year. And thank you to all of you for being part of the spectacle with us. Here’s to making more memories in this, the 20th and final year.

No, no, no... you alway bring good news, not sad news. I'm hoping they come out with some good pins and other items to mark the final year.
