It's Never to Soon to go back to Disney: My 1st PTR- Sept. 2009

Hi Everyone, what I crazy busy weekend I had! By the time I finished cleaning my house on Saturday, it was 6pm!! :scared1: and I had to rush to meet my friends for dinner... Of course I was late! But at least I made it!! Sunday, I didn't get out of bed till 11:30 and had to rush to get ready for my godson's 10th birthday party!! It was a great time thou!!

Yesterday was a bit of a sad day thou, after the party we went to my mom and dad's house, one because my brother Johnny bought the WWE pay pre view for Devon and two because we needed to say bye-bye to my baby brother Tim who left to go back to college this morning!!! :sad1: So sad!! I'll tell you it never is easy saying bye to him!! We are very close!! But at least we will have something to look forward to when we come home from our trip... Tim comes home for fall break!!! Poor Devon, refuses to say bye to him whenever he leaves... He just runs away or says bye to him from another room! I think it is because he doesn't want anyone to see him get upset!!

Here's a picture of my brother and Devon. Tim is the one directly behind Devon and my other brother John is to the right... This picture is like 3 years old. Tim was going on the prom, obviously!!!

Ok, enough with stories of my my life, on to Disney Planning!!! This update is going to be a bunch of questions for you guys... I need some help...

So, I think I may have read in one of your lovely lady's trip reports that you downloaded a $25 Air Tran voucher and were going to use it for the check bag fee?? Am I correct or am I losing my mind again... Which could be entirely possible!! :upsidedow If so, how can I get one of those babies?? Sure would love to save the $30 bucks it's gonna cost us for our bags to fly!!!

I also need to find a good book to read on the plane... While I should be reading whatever readings are assigned for class that week, that's just not what I want to be doing going on vacation!! Anyone have any suggestions for a good book?? I already read the Twight saga, yes I am a dork, but those were darn good books!!! Read all 4 in less then 3 weeks. Anyway, I was thinking of the new Dan Brown book, the Lost Symbol... I am a really big fan of his writing so that's an option I guess.

Last question, does anyone have the iPhone??? I want to get an App for Disney ride wait times for when we are there, but not sure of a good one... Anyone know of one or have one that you could suggest???

Well, that's it for this installment... It's another busy day for me today... Have to straighten up around the house and run to pick my brother Johnny up from work in a 1/2 hour... Poor kid's car died on him last week, so he is carless today since my mom has her car at work and my dad is driving Tim back to school, so I volunteered to help out... Such a good big sister I am!! ;) After that taking my little fishy, aka Devon to the pool to do some swimming, then it's home to do Devon's summer worksheets... Running out of time to get all the things done this boy has to do!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!! ~Reese

Oh and can I just add how great it feels to see my ticker say days, instead of months until our trip!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Glad to see you had a good weekend. Sad about your brother leaving but at least he will be back soon enough.

Here my comments to the ?

air tran voucher- that was me who said I wanted to use it for my baggage fee but another diser told me you cant use it for that only seat assignments or the actual air fare. I looked into it and realized that she was right. :sad2:

a good book- I am a nicholas spark fanatic. I would recommend any of his books. He's the author of The Notebook, The Wedding, etc. I dont have a favorite I love them all. If want more titles I can get you them I just cant think off the top of my head. If you google his name it will give you a list. They are more romance related but awesome. I cry almost every time. They are sometimes sad and sometimes happy tears.

and I dont have an iphone sorry I cant help you out there.

Thanks for the info, regarding the Air Tran voucher!! That stinks you can not use it for the baggage fee!!!

Yes, I love nicholas Sparks too!!! I cry like a baby when I read any of his books!!! I loved the Wedding, but you are right, you can not pick just one of his books as your favorite!!!

Hi there fellow Dis'ers!!! Hope all is well with all you planners out there!! Just wanted to drop in an give you a quick update.

So, as far away as my trip may seem to be, I am quickly realizing, it really isn't long until we are in the Happiest Place on Earth!!!

With that said, I been thinking alot about the trip and all the stuff I still have to do. We left the pool early today because Devon had soccer practice tonight (hopefully I'll put pictures up soon) so I was able to get a few things done for the trip...

Last week while reading Toni and Terry's pretrip report (aka Oregonmommyof 2 and oregondaddyof 2) I saw a poster give them a link for these cute letters to send to their kids before they left for the trip, needless to say they were so stinking cute, I decided to get one made and sent to Mr. Devon.

Here it is!!!

Devon.jpg

Is it not the cutest?? I am going to put it in the mail on September 10th so that he gets it the week before we leave to go!! I am so excited to see his face when he opens it! Don't worry, I'll be sure to report his reaction to it! I'm so excited about it, my luck the boy will be like ah, no big deal!! :rotfl:

I also decided in order to keep the Disney spirit alive while waiting for our trip to get here, that Devon and I are going to have a weekly Disney Movie night!!! I asked Judy to join us, but she is coaching youth cheerleading every night of the week so unfortuately she can't! Haven't decided on what movies we are going to watch just yet, but my vote for the first movie is Little Mermaid... Devon wants the movie this week to be the Wizards of Waverly Place movie that airs on Disney Channel this Friday, so we'll see. I prefer the movies to be Disney classics! Don't you all agree? I'll keep you posted with what we decide.

TaTa for Now!!

love the letter. Such a great idea. I passed on that because I figured I would get the "oh yeah" kinda reaction from my kids. Since there only 2 and 4 the whole mail thing doesnt get them excited yet. The got letters from santa this year and I think they left the room while I was in the middle of reading it. But I think devon is at a perfect age for it. I bet he will be thrilled.

Thats a good idea to do movie night. I would try to find some classics he might not have seen yet. If there is any. I have trying to rent ones for the boys that I know theres rides or things that they will see at disney. that way they at least no the characters and will know the stories a little. I think Little mermaid is great, I would of chose that too.

Yeah, I hope I get a good reaction from him with the letter. I actually think he will though!!

Yep, the idea of movie night went over great with Devon!!! We picked 4 movies, one to watch each week leading up to the trip!! Stay tuned, I will be revealing out movie picks later today!!!

I am in! Can't wait to hear about your trip and I totally agree with your PTR title. We just got back yesterday and I am already thinking about our next trip. :rotfl:

Thanks for join in the fun!!! Hope you had a magical vacation... Will you be doing a trip report?

Don't worry, you are not alone, I have a feeling I will be planning another trip, before this one is over!! :lmao: Is Disney offering any good bounceback offers???

Hey everyone, this will be a rather quick update b/c I need to get Devon and I ready to go to dinner with my parents, but wanted to let you in on some really great news that I got today!!! As I mentioned when I started this report, I was laid off from my job in March. Well... Guess what, my manager called me today and asked if I was willing to come back!!! :thumbsup2 Yippy!!! So, I have to go meet with him next Thursday to hash out the details!!! Needless to say I am very excited... Only issue is, he wants be back before my vacation!!! :scared1: Yikes!! That definitely throws a ringer in you my well though about schedule leading up to Disney!!! :) Looks like I will be doing some rearranging once I find out for certain what is going on after our meeting Thurday!!

Ok, now for some trip news... In last nights update, I told you all that I decided that we would do a Disney Movie Night each week leading up to our trip. When I told Devon about my idea, I was already for him to tell me that was stupid (he's at that age where not of my ideas are cool anymore), but I was surprised that he loved the idea and actually wanted to go right to our DVD collection to pick out the 4 movies!!! Woo hoo!! So that is what we did last night!

Here is the list of Movies we chose:

This week, we will watch Disney's Country Bears, which Devon wants to watch tonight.

Next week we will watch Finding Nemo

The week of 9/7 we will watch The Incedibles

And our last week, 9/14, we will watch, my all time favorite, the Little Mermaid!! Devon said we are saving the BEST movie for last!!! He knows how much I love that movie!!! :yay:

Well that's it for now!!! talk to you all later!! Hope everyone has a great evening with their loved ones!!!

great picks! and great news about the job too. Hope it all works out for you. That will keep you busy while waiting for the time to pass.

Hi and Welcome!!! Thanks so much for joining in the fun!!! Yes, I saw the link you gave to OregonMommyof2 and checked it out!!! How cute are those letters!!! So thanks for the heads up on them!!!

Do you have a trip report? When are you going and where you staying??? You are going to have such a magical time!! Bet you are so excited!

Baloo and King Louie are at Animal Kingdom... They can be found in Africa right across form the Tusker house... If you don't see them out, just ask a CM.

I don't have a trip report but I was soooo tempted to make one but it was getting too close to trip time to be worth it, oh well next time & there will be a next time! ;)

We get to WDW on the 9/19 around 11am'ish (I actually fly in on the 18th, I arrive at 11pm so I got a room at the Marriott near the airport off of Priceline for $40+tax, then I will go back to the airport in the morn and meet my sis, nephew n my son and we will head over to the resort on the ME together)

We are staying from 9/19-9/26/09 but our return home flights leave EARLY. We were orginally staying at All Star Music but we got the upgrade to Saratoga Springs, :woohoo: except for our last night that we added on so we are back at ASMu for our last night.

Cant wait to get there...maybe we'll run into each other. Are you going to post a park day schedule or did you and I missed it?

I'm catching up on your trip report...which is great BTW.

The book I'm going to take for the plane is Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin my coworkers said that its a great book along with the follow up books. Look it up maybe you'll be interested.

I TOTALLY know what you mean about the Ehhh response. My sister was soooo excited (me too) to give my nephew a letter that he is going to WDW on his Bday and my nephew could care less he was too mesmerized by all the video games (we were at a mini golf place) and he kept drifting off. My son was sooo excited and kept tell him "D! we are going to DisneyWorld in FLORIDA! FLORIDA! We have to fly there!" But my nephew was just Ehhh & we love going to Disneyland. Oh well I hope he gets excited soon! My son tells me everyday how close we are to our trip. Oh yeah my son is almost 15 and LOVES Disneyland & I'm sure WDW next!

Congrats on the job! I hope it doesn't mess up your pre-trip planning too much.

great picks! and great news about the job too. Hope it all works out for you. That will keep you busy while waiting for the time to pass.

Yes, I was happy with the movie picks!!! 1 movie down only 3 to go!!! Dev wanted to watch them all last night!! I was like dude your missing the point of the movie a week!!! Lol!! :rotfl: Thanks, yes going back to work will definitely help pass the time!!!

Well, you definitely have to do a report when you come back!!! I will totally read it!!! How awesome that you got upgraded!!! :cool1: I was so hoping to get that pin... Oh well, maybe next time!! SSR is a huge and beautiful resort... Did you have a request for a specific building location??? If not I totally would. The Grandstands and Carriage House are both centrally located.

I'm catching up on your trip report...which is great BTW.

Thanks for the compliment... This is my first attempt at a pre-trip report, so I'm trying!!! :thumbsup2

I actaully read Something Borrowed!!! I agree with your coworker, it is a really good book!!!

See, I think boys just get to an age bracket where nothing their mom does is cool anymore!!! But. I think Devon like your son is going to be excited for the letter!! He loves getting mail!!!

How lucky that you get to go to Disneyland too!!! I was out in LA last April, and my friends opted to go to Universal instead of Disney, needless to say, I was not happy about that, oh well it gives me an excuse to have to go back to LA!!! I am waiting for Devon to turn 10 to take him out to California.

Yes, I am so excited to go back to work, especially to my old job, I am really good friends with the manager and another co worker, so it is so awesome!!!

Yep, I will definitely be doing a TR! I'm hoping to have it started soon. :)

YAY!!! :cool1: Let me know when you start it, and I'm in!!! :woohoo:

Ohh Country Bears! We haven't seen that one, and I'm searching for movies to watch on the plane. I may have to add that to my list of maybes!

Hey there everyone, hope all is well!!! Wanted to get in a quick update before soccer, b/c after that, its off to my parents to watch the Eagles preseason game!! :cheer2: Go Birds!!

Anywho, just wanted to let you know that we had our first Disney movie night last night!!! And, it was a hit!! We had such a good time lounging on the couch, eating popcorn and watching the Country Bears!!! Come to find out that Devon knew there was a Country Bears Jamboree at MK!!! Well needless to say that is now our first stop!! :rotfl:

So here's a crazy question for you all... Am I the only nut that thinks of things they want to buy in Disney before hand??? I started compiling a list in my head what I know I want!! :rotfl2: It's offical, I really am crazy!!!

Nope, I started my list in March... I keep adding things to it, but I also keep taking things off when I realize I really do not need it... Then of course it goes back on and then off again... :rotfl:
