Three cheers for free donuts (with the purchase of a beverage) at Dunks on National Donut Day!! Favorites, in order: Boston Cream, French Cruller, Raised Sugar, Jelly. HOWEVER, today my boss brought in the Key Lime Donut... not too shabby, I must say!
As a stereotypical Canadian, I do love my Tim Hortons.
My favourite is the Honey Crueller, but I'm also a fan of a nice plain old fashion.
Tims once sold a donut called the Lemon Crinkle and it was like the Crueller (flaky and moist inside) but tasted like lemon. That was the best donut I've ever had. But they only made it for a short time, and I've never seen them since.
I never met a doughnut that I didn't like! Okay, well I was a little disappointed by the Cheerwine Krispy Kreme doughnuts when they came out but other than that, I'll take about any of them.
If you're ever in Southern NJ head over to Century Bakery in Bridgeton...they make THE BEST fried donuts (dough spread with cinnamon, sugar, butter I believe and wrapped jelly roll style, cut then fried and then iced)...never found anything like them anywhere else...topped with your favorite icing (chocolate for me!)...puts DD and other chains to shame! Thanks Century!!
There was a bakery near where my grandparents lived in Florida which made donuts - their chocolate frosted was to die for. Since they are closed now, my favorite would be Krispy Kreme glazed chocolate frosted.
