It's my Birthday & I Celebrated! Lots of photos, food and fun! Updated 9/23

Your photos are wonderful! I could not for the life of me get a single good shot on POTC, but you got quite a few real good ones. I love all the photos of Disneyland's little details you've got too. Love the updates!

Great update! You must have finally got some peace and quiet.:rotfl:

I'm really enjoying your trip report. The soup and sandwich look delish at CC. Your pictures are just great :thumbsup2

We've never spend much time in Critter Country (except when we took a wrong turn). It was great to see more of it.

My DH won't do water rides. How wet CAN you get on Splash Mnt?

TK

I have more POTC to come! I think I went a little picture crazy on that ans Little Mermaid!!

Yeah... a little... I actually started that update before 7am so everyone else was still in bed... I was hoping for some peace this morning but I walked in the house to everyone already awake!!

Thank You! I really liked my new camera we got just before I went. I loved that I could actually get pics without flash!!

I wish there wasn't only one way in and one way out of Critter Country! It gets to be a bit bogged down past Haunted Mansion.

I've gone from just getting sprinkled on Splash to my legs being completely soaked!! Sitting in the front of the ride has a much higher chance of getting soaked and the back less so!

The leisurely train ride from NOS to Tomorrowland had us pretty much dried off from Splash and of course after waiting all day for the sun to come out it finally did!

The wait for Autopia was definitely a bit longer than it looked. I think even with FP we waited about 20 minutes.

Finally it was our turn! We of course had our own vehicles! (I cannot imagine fitting with someone else unless they are a child!)

I discovered it is VERY difficult to try and take pictures while driving!

After our journey through the Disneyland Countryside we were going to use our Space FP's collected from the early morning but decided we needed something sweet first...

ry%3D400

Can you say ROCK HARD!!
ry%3D400

It was very yummy though!

We sat in front of the Giant Ball that spins in water and watched little kids put there fingers in there and looked liked they were going to be smushed!
Kim and I were both amazed that the parents just let the toddlers stick their hands in there. Now I imagine it is safe or they wouldn't have the Ball there but still scary!

Then it was time to use some Space Mountain Fastpasses!

AS we got into the main area the ride shut down! They told everyone we could wait or we could leave! Well since we had already given in our FP we decided we would try and wait it out a little while and see how long it took. By my best guess it took about 20 minutes from that point for us to actually ride through Space. They apparently had to cycle all the shuttles through the ride and those that got stuck while inside got the choice of riding it again or getting off so there were a few half full shuttles going through!

ry%3D400

From here I have down that we took the train again but I do not remember nor do I have pictures of how far we took it! I imagine we took it around to NOS to complete our circuit....

A 20 min wait with FP for Autopia isn't that bad......back in 09, we waited 50 mins & that was with the FP's.....I was not pleased. Those cars are not meant for long legged people......I couldn't wait for it be over & haven't been back on since....lol

Yummo........Ice cream sandwiches!!! Those carts keep that ice cream rock hard.........but oh so delicious!!

I couldn't imagine being on Space when it broke down....yikes!! I also don't want to be on it & then have them turn on the lights....I think that would ruin it for me. Usually if they have something like that happen, they can give you a FP back to use later.....but on Space I imagine it would be hard to figure out who used one & who didn't. But I have seen when they've had to shut down a ride, that they give everyone a FP so they can return later...since they already had stood in line.

It was 2005 for the last time I was on it. Kody drove but she couldn't reach the pedal so I got to pedal. It was so awkward. Never again!!:lmao:

Another fun update. I love the road signs on Autopia.

All caught up :thumbsup2 These last few updates were lovely to read since I've been missing DL and this was like a little mini-trip :)

Aw I haven't been on autotopia in years! It is a must for me next month.
Those ice creams are always so hard! And on my last trip I found out why. The CM told us they are stored in dry ice. :confused3

It's great that the CMs at Space Mountain gave you the option of waiting. I remember once we actually waited in the Stand By line for over an hour (ugh, not my idea but I had some lazy friends who slept in and FPs were all gone for the day) and we were just about to enter the indoor part of the line when it broke down! We asked if we could just wait and they said no :(

I actually don't know how long our wait was for Autopia... it was kinda hot in the line (to me!) so it felt like it was forever! I am very glad that the pedal did not make my feet hurt this time!!

It's kinda scary when you are waiting in line and the ride goes down and then you are on it a few minutes later but I figure the safety record on these rides is really good so I just have to trust it will continue to be safe.

The ride on Autopia was more fun this time as I was trying to take pictures so it made it an adventure! I'm not sure if I will ride it on my next trip or not...

I'm glad you enjoyed the updates! It's been awhile since I did one... personal life has been SO busy!

It's weird that they told you NO for waiting... they must have expected the wait to be really long?

So did you ride Autopia?!?!

Sorry its been so long between updates everyone. We have been remodeling our house for a long time and 2 weeks ago my MIL and hubby decided it was time to get it on the market. This meant 2 very long hard weeks of getting it presentable. Including painting a room we had not counted on painting!

I had last left off many moons ago with our ride on Space Mountain. It was now well into the afternoon and the lines everywhere were getting pretty long so we had headed back tot he train and finished our trip around the LAND. We got off in New Orleans square as that would be where we had plans for dinner. However it was not quite time for dinner so we decided to do another thing on my MUST DO list. Ride the Mark Twain!

Welcome back to your TR!!! The Mark Twain ride is so relaxing!!! It made me kick my feet up in my recliner & go ahhhhhhhh!!

The trip around the Rivers of America was a great relaxing time! I highly enjoyed it and think I definitely need to do it each trip!

It was now getting close to our dinner reservation at Cafe Orleans so we went to check in.

As we waited I caught sight of this in the window...
ry%3D400

I thought it was cute!!

ry%3D400

We were then seated very shortly.

I of course knew what I wanted to eat but I gave Kim a few minutes to peruse the menu.

We started with the Pomme Frites. I had wanted to try them after all the rave reviews on the DIS but knew I wouldn't be able to complete them myself so I was happy to have someone to share them with this time.

ry%3D400

My review... tasty but I think they must make them in HUGE quantities as this batch seemed a little cool when they came out and also not as crisp as I would have expected. I love French Fries so I may try them again sometime but definitely not a must for me.

For her main course Kim ordered the N'awlins Vegetable Ragout with Blackened chicken....
ry%3D400

I would give you her review.... but I am blank on what she thought of it! I will see is she remembers!

I would say it must have been decent though...
ry%3D400

I of course had the Monte Cristo!
ry%3D400

It was just as delicious as the first time I had it in December but I must not have been as hungry as I was not able to eat it all! (Either that or it was the Pomme Frites that kept me from eating it all! :rotfl2:)

ry%3D400

Just when I thought I was done putting food in my mouth this was brought to the table...
ry%3D400

A Birthday Beignet!!

Delightful! and Shared with Kim!

From dinner we were off to do something we had planned to do much earlier in the day!

We made our way out of Disneyland and over to California Adventure... to get a little wet.... Yup... it was FINALLY time for Grizzly River Rapids...

As we were walking there... my with my blinders on and not paying attention
to anything but our destination... Kim says to me... Is that the coach from GLEE? I was like... what?!? Where?!?! She said we just passed her she was walking the other direction. I said who? Sue Sylvester... she said no... the football coach... I was like I don't know I didn't see her. So we turn around and speedwalk back the way we came... As we get closer I said... I think it just might be?!?!?

As we get almost back to Sunshine Plaza area she stopped to talk to her family. I stopped to stealthily see if it was her so I pretended to take pictures of the surroundings...

And!

It was her!!!

ry%3D400

My first star sighting!

If not for Kim I would never have even noticed!

And if not for Kim I wouldn't have actually met her! Kim went up to her and said.. "I apologize. I know you are with your family and I am sorry but I can't remember your name but are you from GLEE?!!"

And she said yes. My name is Dot Jones! And then Kim asked if she could et a picture.
ry%3D400

And then she asked if I wanted a picture as well...

Well of course!
ry%3D400

We said thank you and then headed back the way we were originally going...

Yes... it was cooling off and it was late but we had said we were going to ride it so we were!

I had hoped to be able to put our items into a locker but apparently everyone knows the secret of the lockers and we were stuck taking them with us on the ride. Thankfully though we did NOT get completely soaked! However we were then heading back to the room for a quick change of clothes as we were going to catch the Fireworks since the Park was again closing early again due to another Grad Night.

Welcome back to your TR!!! The Mark Twain ride is so relaxing!!! It made me kick my feet up in my recliner & go ahhhhhhhh!!

Thanks... I'm not sure how much time I will have for it in the next few days but I need to get going on it!!

I'm glad it gave you a relaxing moment...

Paula congrats on your celeb sighting! I have yet to have one....well, once I saw a girl from this VH1 reality show in line for ToT but wasn't close enough to say anything. I don't think I would count that as an actual celeb sighting anyways. Thank goodness for Kim's braveness in asking her for a picture. That is one opportunity I am sure you are glad you didn't miss :)

I think I remember you mentioning seeing her on your FB updates.....very cool & man, Kim is a gutsy lady....I don't think I could have done that....but I would have loved getting the picture with her too!!!!

I've never seen anyone & supposedly Pierce Bronson was there during the Diva trip.....but I never saw him or a big group of VIP personnel surrounding anyone.....I think he was sighted over at the Grand.

Great update and it's wonderful to see you!!
