It's the big Four- Oh.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm really okay with 40. Heck, it wasn't until I did the math when someone asked me how old I was a few months ago that I realized I had a big birthday coming up. I really never keep track of my age.

Since then, I've teased and joked that I just don't think I can bear it unless I'm in Disney, and DH has jumped the bandwagon. My pathetic self has not had a birthday party since I was 6 so he's decided I'm due :)

And so, now we plan! I need a ton of help because, well, I'm a total OCD overplanner and I it's easy to plan when I'm doing so to make our family and friends who travel with us happy. Planning an adults only trip focused on me is proving to be way harder than I thought!

I'm Shel, the mom to 4, wife to 1, soccer/gymnastics/swimming taxi driver who works as a part time accountant. This will be my 6th trip to Disney

DH is Dave who hit the 40 mark a few years ago. He works in a warehouse and is the back up taxi driver when we have 3 kids going 3 different places. He's been to Disney twice as a child and twice as an adult.

This is a picture of us in June while staying at Disney Hilton Head Island Resort.

We are leaving behind DS20 (who lives 3 hours from us now :( ) DS17 who graduates in June, DD11 and DS8. I'm very lucky that my ILs will watch the kids while we travel and I think my mom may be able to come down for 3-4 days as well.

It's really hard for me to plan this trip. I'm really going back and forth on so many things! When I plan trips for our kids, or my mom or brother or nephew, it's been so easy because I have a good idea what would make them happy. It's really hard to decide what I want because I'm not usually focused on me!

So, first decision is dates. My birthday falls the last week of April. With Easter being so late I'm not sure if that week would be okay or if we should wait until the first week of May.

Then where to stay:

Moderate with deluxe dining: We could do some of the really fun signature restaurants we'd never take the kids to.

Deluxe resort with regular dining: We could still do a couple of signature meals but get to stay someplace fun. DH hasn't stayed onsite since he was a kid and I have a special place in my heart for AKL :)
