Tomorrow I'm running in the St. Jude 5K. It will be my first official race. I'm excited/nervous. I am a slow runner so I'm shooting for 40 minutes. Anything under 45 right now will make me happy though.

Wish me luck!

Good luck! All your hard work will pay off and you will have a great finish. It was 2 years ago that I did my first 5k. And a couple of weeks ago, I passed that very race when I was out doing the last (5th) of my 20 mile training runs for my upcoming marathon. I had to smile when I thought of how tough I thought that first race was, and how far I have come.

So I hope this is the beginning of a great ride for you!

Good luck on your first 5k! I ran my first one last week and loved it. I'm sure you'll do awesome!!

Good luck! I'm in the same boat as you - first race tomorrow. I'm doing the 5k Race for the Cure. I'm also shooting for a similar time of 40 minutes. Hope we both do awesome! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! :)

carissanboys, good luck to you too!

2 months and 3 weeks 'til the half and I'm only doing my first 5K. lol

ETA: We'll both be setting a PR this weekend. ;)

Same here. But, I've been running since January so I feel pretty ready. And I have a 10k in two weeks. Do you have any other races planned?

I started C25K in March and finished sometime in June. Ran a little until September 6, then I started in on my Half Marathon training.

How did you do??

I have an unofficial time (per my Garmin) of 38:44. Still waiting for them to post the official results.

I did worse than horrible! :sad2::sad1:

Oh no! :( Did you start out too fast? I know the pull of the other fast runners at the start had me going way faster than I normally do. I'm glad I was wearing the Garmin and knew to slow down.

Do you feel like talking about it?

I crossed the finish line in tears, found my DBF and just let it go. I never in a million years thought I would to that bad! *sigh* I have a 10K coming up in 3 weeks so I need to get back out there but I really don't want to! Blech!

I'm so sorry your first race experience left you feeling that way. :( But, you finished! I've read many people say you shouldn't really have a time goal for your first race. You did more than many people ever do in a lifetime - you competed in a race and crossed that finish line! :cool1: I hope in a few days you feel better about the experience and get back out there and kick butt on your 10k. :goodvibes
