It's finally going to happen!! - 4/29 PJ - ONLY 18 DAYS LEFT!! YIKES!!

THe Narcoossees food is great, but with our group they were doing a VERY limited menu, so I wasn't going to be able to get lobster or anything anyway, so I figure if I'm getting steak or chicken I might as well get it cheaper at the GF Cafe.

I'm all for saving where we can too! ;) But I was surprised to read that Narcoossees was offering you a limited menu - I thought that if you were doing an Escape wedding you could simply order off the usual menu just like you were at a regular dinner? :sad2:

Any light you can shed on Escape dining is much appreciated! Thanks!

You can order off the full menu at Narcoossees with a group(32 and under). I think they offer the fixed price menu for people who want to budget x amount for food. (I'm helping my cousin out with her VR(Wishes 99% sure), but she wanted to look at something for a RD for the family the night before.

Ahhh, I didn't realize that Narcoossees would offer a fixed price menu - thanks Starr W.!

When I booked the woman I spoke to at Narcoossees only mentioned the limited fixed price menu. It's $65 ppn and comes with one fish, one chicken and one beef entree, plus appetizer, soup or salad and dessert for everyone. It's not a bad price, but still a lot more than GF Cafe.

We're doing Chef Mickey's the night before, so I'm hoping the Cafe will be a little fancier, but not looking for V&A atmosphere by any means!!

Today I went out to run a few wedding errands and found some AMAZING deals at AC Moore. I first went to DSW because the shoes I had were slip ons and I decided I needed ankle straps. I went and found some that I love and saved $5 over the original pair (which were only $30 to start!) As i headed to my car I noticed AC Moore next door and decided to see what they had. I found a boquet for MOH for $5!! It's the exact color combination i wanted and it was the only boquet in the clearnace section. I was going to pay DFTW $125 for the same thing in real flowers, but for $5 silk is just fine with me. I sent a pic to my mom and she confirmed that this is a steal!!

Next I wandered down the invite aisle for a while. As I was looking a woman came walking by and mentioned if anyone was interested in silver and white invites there were some in the clearance aisle. I headed straight over and found a box of 25 complete invites with response cards in my colors with a very regal looking border (think celtic) for $5!! I guess it's the $5 sale!!

When did you speak to them? They told my cousin about a month ago if she did an early sitting people could order off the menu if she wanted, but was also given the $65 and $85 fixed price menu. She would probably go with the fixed price as it would make it simpler for her parents/inlaws(they would flip at the prices, even though her parents live outside of NYC).

We had lunch at GF Cafe Friday after Thanksgiving. It's nice but not too stuffy and the food was very good.

So DF has decided that he doesnt' want to "downgrade" the dinner. He likes Narcoossee's (and isn't a big fan of change!) so we'll stick with what we had. I'm glad he's stepping in and making a couple of these decisions - takes the pressure off me to make the right choices!! :flower3:

On Monday I spoke with Rosie about our flowers and photography. She was great - now I finally get to see why everyone has always raved about her! She sent me some pictures of the roses I wnat to use - lavendar colors and some pics of the mickey unity candles. I had seen them on our 06 planning visit, but it's been a while so she threw that pic in.

Anyway, I feel like things are really coming together until I mention that I want pics on the GF Staircase. She said they're going to be working on it starting May 1, but there's a chance they might start early! :scared1: I've always wanted those pictures!!! I'll be sad if we can't get them!:sad1:

I forgot to ask her about the jewels I wanted for my boquet, so I emailed her about that and I'll see what kind of pricing she quotes. That'll be the factor in me doing them or not since it'd just be a nice extra.

Oh, a question on transportation. Have any other intimate/escape brides used their free limo time to go offsite and pick up guests? My mom and dad have a timeshare on Irlo Bronson and we were planning to send the limo until I realized it says in my packet that it only goes to Disney hotels. ANyone know?

The dress - I went last week for my first dress fitting. My dress has been a source of great drama. I ordered it custom from a shop near my house in Oct 06. They ordered it to my exact measurements and said it would be here in 4 months. The week after Christmas i got a plain old letter in the mail saying they were going out of business :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:    :scared: :scared: :scared:
I immediately freaked out and called them and the manufacturer who could only assure me that they had orders for this shop that would indeed be finished. I held my breath for 6 more weeks and the owner did finally call me to tell me the dress was in. I met her and she handed me the dress. Well, turns out the dress is too big - not a bad problem to have, but still my custom dress now does not fit and there's no shop to go back to...
Anyway, right after all that we postponed, so fast forward to this year. I took my dress to a woman that does custom made dresses and dress alterations in her house. She did a friend's wedding dress and it was great. I went for my fitting and found out that the dress is now 2 sizes too big - and no, I really haven't lost weight. So, lots of taking in to be done, but I'm excited and she's only charging me $115 for the fitting and the bustle!! Add that to my list of bargains!!

congrats on getting your DFTW back in action!!!!

you have gotten some GREAT deals..you go girl!!!!!!!!!

your dress is stunning...& its good to hear you found someone that can alter it for a great price & even better...someone has used her..so you know shes good!!!YAY!!!

happy to hear your gettin Narrcoosee(sp)!!!

Love your dress- its very similar to mine (also a casablanca). We are having our reception at Narcoosee too!

Thank you! I fell in love with that dress the moment I put it on - just felt so princess-like :bride:

What are you doing for your menu at Narcoossee's? That's the one thing for us that's still up in the air.

I am all for saving money, too

Same here haha. I'm so glad that I've got 20 months to save. I get a nice tax return for being in school still too. So yay for that! haha But whenever I want to buy something I'm like hmm.. do I really need this? I should be saving every extra penny for this..

Oh Disney, the things you make people do :rotfl:

Yeah - saving money for Disney is an ongoing theme in our house. We've been engaged 2 years now, and made 3 trips to WDW in that time, first a planning trip, then a vacation the week that would have been our wedding last year, a trip this fall for free dining, and then now the 4th trip for the wedding I thought would never get here!!!

Every time I want to buy shoes, get a pedicure, buy a new car, I think "Hmm, this could go towards another night at the GF, or a dessert party, or......" :rotfl:

Ok, I've been a TERRIBLE bride not keeping up with my planning journal. In my defense though, right after my last post I got the flu and then I've had 3 trips out of town since then, so I've been a little busy, but still shouldn't have neglected my PJ! Here are the things that I can remember that are new or exciting...

First, This week Disney FINALLY announced fireworks the night of our wedding!!! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:  :worship:
I've been checking almost daily and they finally decided no P&PP that night and they changed the MK hours back to 9pm and added Wishes!! So today I called and changed our Grand 1 departure from 9:30 pm (the best guess of when we should go incase there were going to be fireworks) to 8:30 for 9pm fireworks!! Let me tell you, it was hard to get the first CM to book the cruise at all. He kept saying - there aren't any fireworks on the 29th, how about the 28th? So I would explain, again, that we were getting married on the 29th, and the 28th wasn't the same. Finally he booked it but he made sure to tell me that it wouldn't be a Wishes cruise as there was no wishes because MK was closing at 7, so just a cruise around the lagoon. But I had faith the mouse would come thru for us!! Anyway, the CM today was very helpful and now we DO have a Wishes cruise!!

I asked my planner about putting some purple touches into my cake, but she said the GF bakery refuses to do anything to tweak the standard cake. Seems odd since I'm sure some of the brides on here have done it, but whatever... I did send her a pic of a cake from here (purple girl I think) that was just white with purple mickey shaped dots and asked how much extra to get that cake. I'm hoping not much so I can get a little purple in my wedding.

Oh, also my MOH (who is also my sister) FINALLY ordered her dress. Yes, she had 2 years and waited until 8 weeks before the wedding to look for and buy a dress. :faint: SO that's done, we ordered DF's tux and made the list for the tux place for the rest of the guys. DF's dad is so excited he's going to get fitted tomorrow. :flower3: We're staring to get RSVP's back, so that's fun - for some reason I love getting little cards in the mail, even if I know what they are! Of course with only 18 guests, we didn't really even need invites or reply cards, but I did them anyway just becaUSE - PLUS I got them for $5 and already had the stamps, so why not!

I got my tiara and veil. My sister, mom and niece and I all met up in NYC a couple weekends back and as they were packing to leave my mom got knocked over the head with my sister's veil and tiara. Neither of them knew she had it in her closet, so we all figured it was a sign I should wear it. Plus, I didn't have either, and she never wore them (she eloped after cancelling her big wedding) so one less thing for me to worry about. The only question I have is, it has a band that goes around the back of my head and it's white. How do I hide that???? The veil will not cover it all and I think I want to take the veil off after the ceremony, so what do I do with the big white halo around my head???

Whatelse? Hmmm, that might really be it. This whole process has been really easy (probably based on the fact that I did it once already) People keep asking me how the planning is going, and really it's done. Even my hair dresser mentioned today that I'm the most relaxed bride she's seen - I guess it must be that since the ultimate problem happened last year (no wedding :sad1: ) this year whatever we do, whatever goes wrong, it'll be great because we'll actually get married! :bride: :dance3:

I'm off now to wrap my attendant gifts. Heck, I'll be ready to leave for DW here soon, and then I'll have to sit around and wait for a few weeks!!!

Last week Tanis called me to say that my request on my planning sheet for purple touches on my standard escape cake wasn't possible. :confused3
She said the GF Bakery refuses to customize colors - you get white with pink flowers, that's it. So... I rememberd a caked posted on here last year that was white with purple mickey "dots" and I rememberd that bride saying that cake didn't have any upgrade charge. (please if it's you, take credit for your cute cake!) So I went hunting, found it and sent the picture off. Low and behold, that cake is no charge. HOw on earth the GF Bakery will do a whole different design but won't make purple flowers instead of pink is beyond me, but ok. :thumbsup2

Then I got another  ! Last year we were going to do a purple and silver mickey's delight cake, so I asked how much for that design on our 2 tier cake. That one is $125 upgrade charge. I got the bright idea to ask DF. I showed him the first 2 and he hated the standard cake, and was ok with the second, until I showed him the Mickey's delight. But, he took it WAY further. I opened the old CD I had with all the cake designs to show him the mickey's delight, and he went wild picking out all the cakes he liked. He narrowed it down to 2 more - Mickeys' Gazebo and Golden Scroll (ok, I picked that one, he just said one of the castle ones). We sent that off to Tanis and she's checking pricing for me, but she said Mickey's Gazebo can only be done for 100+ people :scared1: There's no way we could eat that much cake!! Ok, maybe we could, but we really shouldn't!! So we're waiting to hear back from Tanis and we'll either have the Mickey's delight in purple fondant with silver mickey's or we'll have the golden scroll with silver instead of gold! Leave it to me to get DF involved just in time to spend more money!!

Aside from the cake, I was inspired by Lynn this week to axe my Cinderella Swarovski necklace and bracelet that I got last spring when they were officially discontinued. I think it's too busy for my dress. So now I need to pick out earrings. I don't really want anything costume as I've worked in a jewelry store and have lots of earrings, so I know if I buy costume I'll never wear it again. I guess I need to try on all my earrings with the dress and see if I can wear a pair I already have. DF gave me a diamond pair and a pearl pair the day we got engaged - yes, I am spoiled! - so I might try to wear one of those.

One of these days I'll stop being so lazy and I'll actually upload some pictures. I'm just too impatient to set up a photobucket account!! :rotfl:

Ok how are you wearing your hair? Do you have picture's of the tiara. You can cover it up with your hair.I need to see a picture though so I can tell you what is best to do and how to wear your hair with that type of tiara.

our original cake was golden scrolls in silver- the price was around $1200!

Needless to say it met the ax for us! It is a beautiful cake though! It had a minimum of 65. We only have 35 didnt make sense having half an expensive cake to throw away! :upsidedow

I'm wearing my hair in big curls with the front half pulled back. I've got a picture at home of that, and I'll have to break down and take a picture of the tiara and put some stuff up on photobucket - I'll probably do that this weekend and put up some pics of everything else too!

Ok, here's my first photobucket attempt.... My hair isn't quite this long, but this is the idea. I'll get the tiara pic this weekend. Thanks for the disbride that posted this picture originally!! I always knew what I wanted but couldn't ever find a pic!

Yikes!! :scared1: That's way out of our price range too!! I really like the Mickey's Delight, so I'm ok if we go that way. I can't spend more on the cake than my dress :cake: :crazy2:

I'm so excited now that I've set up photobucket and can post pictures - it only took me 3 years.... :rotfl:

Here are the cake choices
