Its Father's Day so...

Well, Its father's day tomorrow, so I would like to give a few words about my father...

Dad, I would like to thank you for every little thing you've done for me. Thank you for healing my wings when I couldn't fly. Thank you for giving me the ability to dream, when my life was a nightmare. And thank you for simply being my father.

This is a man who is taking me to DW when he is losing his job. He calls me from work to ask me how my day was, and to talk about our upcoming trip. Every saturday we eat at subway together and talk about DW.

...And somehow, though all of the storms and problems that arise in his life, he can still focus on what is important to him...

Happy Fathers day dad. Thank you for not just being a father... but a friend.

That was so sweet, Mike.

My Dad was born in 1919. He didn't know it at the time but he would soon be the oldest child of 14 children.

He spent most of his days tilling fields for food, changing diapers and doing hair.

At 23 he escaped the Jim Crow laws of North Carolina and came to NY where he met a feisty little New York teenager that liked to do cartwheels in Gimbels, where his friend worked.

He asked her her name and for 60 years after that, he was her life partner.

My Dad spent the rest of his life working and taking care of us, changing our diapers and doing our hair because he knew what it took to take care of children. He didn't talk much but smiled with his eyes and told us daily that he just adored us.

I lost this incredible man on my birthday last year. I enjoyed every single day in his world. His humility, kindness and self deprecating humor were his legacy, but his never ending love for his family was what made him a FATHER.

Happy Fathers day in heaven, Daddy.

I will ALWAYS LOVE YOU.

What a very nice tribute. I won't be seeing my father tomorrow as my stepmother has been sick and they won't be in Tennessee. First time ever I haven't been with him on Father's Day. But he is well and knows I love him. Wish I could go to him in Alabama, but we saw him in May. DISers if your dad is around give him an extra special hug tomorrow.

I lost my father only months after my 16th birthday so Father's Day is a nightmare for me.DBF has a great father who has become a father of sorts to me and I also have my grandfather but I'm dreading tommorow

I know you are at peace in heaven with The Master of all, your Mom, Dad, your son and all your siblings, guiding us from above. I was so very lucky to be blessed with you for my Dad and all the wonderful years we had together. I love you and your memories and spirit live forever in my heart.

After church tomorrow, we will visit your resting place w/Mom.
Of course, we will have some KFC just for you!
