Do you celebrate? We do!
It might be silly, but who cares?
To quote Dr. Seuss himself
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells."

I sent my daughter off to school with a Seuss themed lunch from this website
http://www.howdoesshe.com/dr-seuss-celebration-ideas

We are having green egg and ham pasta tonight (spinach pesto over angel hair pasta with ham, grape tomatoes, roasted garlic, asparagus spears, and topped with a fried egg)
Pink Yink Ink drink (some kind of pink sunny d from the store, my kids never get this stuff, so it's like having ice cream with dinner for them!)
And thing one and thing two cupcakes for dessert! (if I can find the blue cotton candy stuff at Safeway)
After dinner we are headed to Barnes and Noble to buy a new Seuss book!

Very cute !!

My FB status right now is courtsey of the Dr.: "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened!"

Oh I love that one!!

My Facebook status is the old standard-

I love Dr. Suess stuff. I take it everyone posting on here has been to Universal's Suess Landing in Islands of Adventure? If not you have to go immediately if not sooner.

I run a home day care so my entire week is devoted to Dr. Suess!

Mixed Up Monday
We wore Pajamas and read A Great Day for Up and I'm not Going to Get Up Today and had lots of related games and activities. We ate breakfast for lunch and had a pajama party.

Top Hat Tuesday
We wore our favorite or funkiest hats, read the Five Hundred Hats of Bartholomew Huggins and the two Cat in the Hat books. Played Cat in the Hat balancing games, created the Little Cat's alphabet hats flash cards and played alphabet games with them. For lunch, we made pizza crust and cut out hat shapes (ball cap, cowboy hat and football helmet) with cookie cutters, then added toppings and baked.

Wacky Wedneday
Today we are wearing our craziest mismatched socks, read Fox in Socks and The Foot Book, and made a large poster by walking across the paper with painted feet titled "Oh How Many Feet We Meet!" We played Twister type games. This afternoon we are reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fishand playing games with the rainbow-colored Fish crackers at snack.

Theodore Thursday
The kids are bringing their favorite stuffed toy from home. We are reading If I Ran the Zoo and Bartholomew and the Oobleck. We will create our own zoo with their animals and play with them. We will also make Oobleck with Borax, Glue and Water. Love this stuff. We make a lot and fill our sensory tub with it, they play with it for weeks before we have to pitch it. We are having Oobleck Pudding for snack (colored vanilla pudding with gummy animals trapped in it.)

Fun Food Friday
We are reading Green Eggs & Ham, and a couple other stories that mention foods. We have games related to the books and will be focusing on creating our own fun foods for lunch and snack. Breakfast is Green Eggs and Ham and Pink Ink Drink (strawberry milk). Lunch is the Ocotopus Hot Dogs on Seashell Pasta. Snack is Goose Juice and Moose Juice and a few other fun tidbits.

It's a crazy busy week, but the kids LOVE it. They always ask when we are doing it again. Sorry so long, but well, you asked... :rotfl:

We visited in 2008 and loved it. Amazing! I wish I could take my little ones for a day, they would be in awe!

My friend texted me this quote yesterday. It put a much needed smile on my face. Definitely something to live by I think. :thumbsup2

How cool! DD is going to need to wear her One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish shoes tonight!

DD and I read Wacky Wednesday every Wednesday anyways, so how fitting that it's Dr. Seuss day! We'll have to read a few others now in honor of today :goodvibes

And watching The Cat in The Hat Knows Alot About That-athon on PBS.

I am a kindergarten teacher and of course we LOVE Dr. Seuss Day! We wore our PJ's to school and read Seuss books, did several activities revolving around his books. We made our cat in the hat hats and we ate Green Eggs and Ham with Pink Ink Drink (pink lemonade)

I love some of the other isead posted! I'm gonna save them for next year. Oh the Thinks you can Think!

I teach pre-k and we did lots of fun stuff this week too.. had Green Eggs and Ham today.

Another fun one.. we take large paper bags from the grocery store. We roll the bottom up until it fits on the kid's head. It makes a giant "Cat in the Hat" hat. We let them paint them however they want. So cute!
