It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Disneyland, November 18-22 2010 *completed*

decided to buy our ears ahead of time! found these at walgreens, 2.99 each. still might get different ones in the park if i find something really special, but i'm quite fond of these!

Well, in one week's time, i'll be posting updates live from DL! I can't believe we're leaving in just a week! I thought it would never come, and now here it is. I pulled out the suitcases today and started packing what I could. Wish I had a better idea of what the weather will be, everytime I check it's changed, lol.

7 DAYS!

I'm following along, can't wait for your next report!
P.S. I have a Beagle too, Miss. Sara Beth!

Can't wait to hear/see more now that your trip is underway! I am really looking forward to what you think about the Minnie & Friends breakfast. We are debating between it and Goofy's. Have fun!

As i've mentioned around here, we aren't much for eating. We mostly packed our own snacks and didn't eat many full meals. We agreed before we left that we could each pick one in park snack a day, but I don't think we even got that many, lol. Everything looked really good and smelled great, but we just never got around to eating, lol. We were too busy with other stuff I guess. Anyways, here's what we did eat that I actually got a picture of:

La Brea Express, Downtown Disney-
We were cold and tired on night #2, and walking around checking out DTD. We stopped in here to see what they had, and saw bread bowls! Could not pass up the chance at such a nice, warm, filling meal. We both got one, but I was so hungry mine was gone before I remembered to take a picture! I got the chicken noodle and it was incredible. DH got the chili and loved it. We both said we would get these again in a heartbeat. We spent about $16 on these.
222.jpg

Riverbelle Terrace-
We had walked over to NoS with the intention of getting gingerbread beignets, but the line to get into Cafe Orleans was way too long. We decided we were too hungry for just a snack and walked over here to look at the menu. We spent $28. Each sandwich comes with a pickle spear, cup of baked beans, and one cold side. There were also a lot of extra charge things to pick from, like drinks and desserts. The sandwiches are HUGE and neither of us could finish. We could have easily split one. DH said the beans were great, and we didn't get to try the two sides.

I got the turkey breast. It was very good, but very dry. The turkey and the bread together were hard to swallow without a drink. It was also pretty late and the turkey was probably out for a while under the heat lamp, so I doubt it's always this dry. The bread was very fluffy and good. I plan on getting this again if/when we go back.
084.jpg

Dh got the BBQ pulled pork and loved it. He said it was a sweeter BBQ, almost like a honey BBQ. He said it was very tender. It smelled amazing.
085.jpg

Tomorrowland Terrace-
I don't have pics of this because it was really dark by the time we stopped and my camera doesn't do night shots too well. DH got a cheesebuger with fries and a coke. This was around $12. The fries are included with the burger, which is why he ate here insteas of Taste Pilots. It smelled SOOO good, my mouth was watering. I can't eat beef so I can't say how it was, but Dh inhaled it and said it was wonderful. The fries were really good, crispy on the outside and soft inside. We forgot to grab salt, so they were a little plain.

Snacks-
I did really bad at taking pictures of our food :(
We got a churro the first night and it was soooo good. The best i've ever had! But then we got another one a different day, and it wasn't as good. It didn't have as much flavor, but it was still pretty good.

Got a small box of popcorn from the cart across from City Hall. Very good. This was the only snack we got that we had gotten last time as well. I love the popcorn here!

Regular beignets from the Mint Julep Bar. I didn't like them very much, but I don't know why. DH agreed that something about them was off, but he would think about having them again. They were so messy, too.

Fudge from the candy store on main street. We got sample of the regular chocolate as well as the peppermint on our tour. The were both very good, rich, creamy, tons of flavor. The peppermint may just have been the best fudge I have ever had anywhere.

Chocolate covered marshmellows from the Candy store on main street. Dh got this, the dark chocolate with milk chocolate drizzled over it. He said it was very good but too sweet, and that he would only get it again if he had someone to share it with. He said the carmel was gooey, like it would be in a milky way candy bar.

Strawberry Margarita from Rita's Baha Blenders. Was a little hard to get through the straw at first, but once it warmed up a bit it was fine. Had to stir it around a bit at first because the tequilla taste was way too strong. After it mixed in better you couldn't taste it at all, and the strawberry taste was very good. Very refreshing, and we felt it was a good value at $7, because we split one and both got more than enough.

Started off rough. Took the dog to the kennel, got back in the car and headed toward the highway...and the low tire pressure light comes on. So, we start looking for a gas station to check them at when i realize i don't have my military id, so we had to go all the way back home. Got my id and some drinks, aired up the tires, and got on the highway. Google maps said it would take us 8 hours. We left at 8 am, and walked through the gates to Disneyland at 2 pm.

017.jpg

Right off the bat, crowds are low. Beyond managable. Took the train around the whole park, then decided to go see how the line looked for PFF since we missed it last time. 45 minutes. I hem and haw, and finally decide to go ahead and wait in line. Only waited about 30 minutes. Walk around the corner to greet our first princess and who do I see? BELLE!!!! I got my picture with Belle! Oh, and Jasmine and Tiana too...but BELLE!!! Very first thing we do and it's one of the things I wanted the most!
DisneyPhotoImage97.jpg

DisneyPhotoImage95.jpg

Leave PFF and start walking around, checking out the xmas things, etc. Ride teacups. See Alice, White Rabbit, and Queen of Hearts but they are just leaving. We followed for a while but they didn't stop again. Turn another corner...BAM - Mary Poppins and Bert are out for a stroll! And guess who got to stroll with them? This girl!
043.jpg

Walk around some more, head into Tomorrow land. 10 minute wait for Buzz, got right on. Got a terrible score. DH kicked my butt pretty hard. lol. Leave that and see Buzz with a line one the other side of the walkway, and run over there. No more people allowed in line...BUT he'll be back at 4:45. We decided to come back for that. Got our first DLR churro...and will never be satisfied with another churro again, lol. OMG so good. Ate it while we watched the castle / tree lighting. Went back and got our picture with Buzz.
046.jpg

Headed over to Tiki Room and watched that. A guy outside handed us 2 fastpasses for Indy! Thought about doing that right then, but decided to hoof it back to Main Street to watch the parade. Found a fairly decent spot near IASW. Watched that then went back to ride Indy, wait was about 10 - 15 minutes. Back to main street to watch the fireworks. Got a great spot about 100 yards behind the hub, great view. Snow was magical.
059.jpg

056.jpg

Now im sitting in my room inhaling some chicken mcnuggets and listening to WoC playing across the street, lol. AMAZING first day!

So, obviously DLR offers A LOT of things to buy! There was no way I could take pictures of all of it, so I just took pictures of the things I liked best, lol. I tried to stick with holiday-specific things and not just random things you can buy at any time.

What we came home with:
006.jpg

Got an early start, got to security before it was open but only had to wait about 5 minutes.
003-2.jpg

005-1.jpg

004-1.jpg

Then waited at the DL gate for another 5ish. Walked in, headed toward fantasyland. Waited outside the castle for another 5 minutes, then were finally let in! Went straight for Peter Pan and got right on that. After Peter, walked onto Dumbo, Mr. Toad, Pinocchio, and the Canal Boats.Headed over to PFF and waited about 10 minutes for it to open, then about another 10 in the line. Met Belle, Tiana, and Ariel. Headed toward Frontierland, as this is where we missed the most on our last visit. Took our first ever ride on BTMMR, loved it! Stopped into Critter Country to go look at Pooh's Corner, and found more than we bargained for:
DisneyPhotoImage62.jpg

191.jpg

189.jpg

We asked if there was any chance Piglet would be out, but the CM said no because Piglets don't like cold or wet, lol.

Most of the rides were walk on all day, from open until we left. And if they weren't the lines were only 10 - 15 minute waits. No big crowds, no cattle herding mentality. Everything has felt very free and easy. Lots of opportunites to meet characters today. We were out in front of the train station area when we spotted Pinocchio so we went and got in line for him. I turned to scan the area and see if any others were out, when I spotted some brown fur...could it be? The crowd parted, and sure enough CHIP AND DALE!!! I literally ran across the street to get to them. One group took forever and would NOT leave, then the 'munks had to go. I got pushed out of the way by some other people and missed Dale, but Chip saw what happened and walked away from the pushers to get to me, so at least I got my pic with him!

051-1.jpg

Had our Holiday Tour at noon, it was really great. I would highly recommend taking it. There was a woman in a wheelchair with us and she didn't seem to have any trouble at all with the rides, etc and kept up just fine. I would think the same would go for stroller kids.

After the parade we headed back to Main Street so that DH could take part in the flag retreat ceremony. It was really nice that he was able to do this, and I teared up a little seeing him up there. For anyone interested, all you have to do is sit around the flag pole area about 10 minutes before the ceremony. Before they bring down the flag, the Disneyland Band plays the anthem of each branch of the military, and you walk up when your branch's is played. (DH is the one in the black tshirt)
212.jpg

219.jpg

Checked out Downtown Disney, missed all of this last time too! Thought it was pretty cool, DH liked the Lego store, lol. Decided it was cold and were hungry, so we both got bread bowls from the la Brea express. He got chili, I got chicken noodle. We were both very satisfied! Headed over to DCA and checked out ElecTRONica...I thought it was pretty cool. I liked the high energy, pumped up feel. True, it didn't feel like i was in Disneyland, but it was a cool thing to see. Walked right onto Monsters, then went over to Rita's Baha Blenders to sample a stawberry margarita as we were both very thirsty and my throat was starting to feel hot and sore.

Everything started to shut down for WoC so we headed back to DLR. Opted out of watching the fireworks again and headed toward RoA for Fantasmic! Neither of us had seen this one, though I saw the Disney World the first year it was there. Walked about 15 minutes before the start and got a fairly decent, nearly center spot about three rows in. Saw pretty well, and i'm only 5 feet tall. Murphy performed beautifully, despite her recent fall from grace, lol.

At this point neither of us could lift our feet more than an inch, so we decided to call it quits and headed back to the hotel. We did a TON today. Rode a lot of rides, met a lot of characters, the tour, the parade...it was an awesome day! Here's some random pictures from today:

Up early again. Got up, showered, dressed and got DH fed, and opened to hotel room door. RAIN. Well, a light mist, nothing we can't handle. Headed to the park.

Got to security right after it opened, and hoofed it to Toon Town for TTMM. Started getting colder and more rainy. No characters, nothing, asked a Cm what was going on. The show was cancelled, but the characters are in their homes. Bummer, but at least we'll meet some still. Walk into Minnie's but no mouse :(. Walked to Mickey's, turned the corner and BAM there he is, in the middle of a singing lesson with a CM, lol. Now I should note...they hadn't seen us yet, they were just goofing around with each other. That made it even better. Got our pic with him, turn another corner and there's Pluto dusting the mantle! Turn another corner, there's Goofy.
004.jpg

006-1.jpg

007.jpg

Hung around Toon Town a bit more, then decided to ride Pirates and HMH. Both were literally walk on...didn't stop moving until we sat in a boat / doom buggy. Also stopped off at Pixie Hollow, and Tink was there alone.
DisneyPhotoImage40.jpg

*side note...the holiday makeover for Haunted Mansion in amazing! I thought i knew what to expect but I was blown away. I like this version much better, and DH said it's his favorite ride so far.*

Today was our DCA day, so we headed over that way. Ran straight to TSMM and the line was already wrapped to the pier, so we went to Screamin instead and walked right on again. Love this ride so much. Got off there and headed back toward TSMM when we saw Jessie and an Army Man headed toward a photo spot, got our pics with them.
DisneyPhotoImage37.jpg

Then got in line for TSMM. Posted wait time was 25 minutes but it felt a LOT longer than that. We had never been on this one before and we both loved it soooo much! I love how interactive it is, with the water and the wind and everything! This is one of the best rides i've ever been on, hands down.
029.jpg

030-1.jpg

At this point, the rain is starting to pick up quite a bit. We didn't have any rain gear, living in AZ we don't really need it soo...yeah, lol. Left our umbrella in the car. The water is starting to puddle up, so now our pants are wet to about mid calf from splashing and all that. We decide to go stay dry in the animation building. Did turtle talk with Crush and the animation academy, learned to draw Pooh. I think mine was pretty good! When we walked out of the lesson, Chip, Dale, and Donald were in the main area so we got our pics with them.
017-1.jpg

019.jpg

When we left there, it was coming down hard. DH met a guy in the bathroom that had a poncho, and he asked where we could buy one. They guy said his family was on their way out, so they gave us two of theirs! We put those on and tried to do a bit more, but we were already so soaked through (like, clothes sticking to us, that wet) and cold it was getting miserable. It was 1:30 at this point, so we decided to go pick up our WoC picnics, and take them back to our hotel to eat and dry out. Picked up a hot Caramel Apple Cider on the way, very yummy and perfect for warming up on a rainy day! We got our umbrella, changed socks, and blow dryed our pants. We sat back and ate our food and relaxed. At about 3, we headed back.

We stepped outside, and there's sunshine everywhere, it's warm, and all the puddles are dried up! It was warm enough that we could take off our hoodies for the first time. We went back to DCA and rode screamin for the third time.Walked around a bit, went back to animation academy and learned to draw Mickey! Went and watched the whole 'portal opening' thing for ElecTRONica...pretty lame, to be honest. Didn't like this as much tonight. Decided we were really bored at DCA and crossed back to DL. Did a little shopping, and DH got a cheeseburger at Tomorrowland Terrace. He said it was very good, and it smelled like it. The fries were good, could have used salt though. Did a little shopping bought an adorable Piglet! (im very disappointed at the severe lack of Piglet things in the parks! poor little guy) Looked at the clock and it's 8:40...uh oh, we've got the 9:00 WoC showing.

Headed back to DCA and made a b line for Paradise Pier. Got into the viewing area at 9 minutes till 9, got a really good spot on the boardwalk. I couldn't see everything, but I saw enough to not feel like I missed anything. If the people in front of us had been shorter it would have been a perfect view. I liked the show, but wasn't overly impressed. Full review of the show & the picnics are in a seperate post.

Left right after the show, grabbed some popcorn and came back to the hotel. We're getting very tired and VERY sore. We've decided not to set the alarm for tomorrow morning and sleep in a bit. Hopefully that will help out, at least a bit. Random pics from the day:

Decided to sleep in today, didn't set the alarm for 6am like the other days. Set it for 8, put woke up on my own at 7:30. Took a nice hot shower and felt totally refreshed! No more aches and pains, no more stiffness, etc. Tons of energy and ready to go! Decided to write up my reports for other days / events and let Dh sleep a bit more. Woke him up at about 8:30 and sent him to eat breakfast. Left for the parks at 9, got to the street corner and it started to rain. Ran back to the room to grab the umbrella, put on our ponchos and walked back out. It wasn't raining anymore, lol.

Decided to do DL first today. Headed over to PFF first to see who was in this morning, and they had just started the coronation show. Decided to watch that. Walked back out and DH asked when Snow White would be in today, and the CM said not at all! BUT she, Cinderella, and Aurora were just about to come out on the dance floor of the show area for pics, so we walked back in. Got our pics with those three.

Dh asked if that was all the Princesses. I said "all but Mulan and Pocahontas, but I don't think they're ever out." Walked back out of there, and DH went to ask who was in the photo area before we left. He walks back with this goofy look on his face.I asked him what was so funny, and he said Mulan and Pocahontas were in! We jumped in line and got them, as well as Ariel again.
DisneyPhotoImage21.jpg

DisneyPhotoImage20.jpg

DisneyPhotoImage18.jpg

*Nifty CM story that blows my mind- Tiana and Ariel both remembered meeting us! I can't believe that! They must see soooo many people walk through there every single day, and yet the actually remembered us! Ariel even remembered which day she had met us! Amazing, and magical.*

Grabbed a churro to share, then rode BTMRR again. As we were walking out of Frontierland toward Critter Country, we ran into Woody and Jessie and got our pic with them.
DisneyPhotoImage14.jpg

Went and checked out the goodies at Pooh Corner. DH and I both feel like there weren't as many throughout the park this time. It seems like last time there were cupcakes, cookies, tigger tails, etc all over...but not so much this time. Maybe just less variety? Don't know...but hey, at least it's less temptation, right? lol.

Walked around a bit more, went and got our pic with Rapunzel and Flynn. A lot of people were leaving the line for this about half way through when they found out it wasn't a ride. I thought it was funny that so many people just got into a line not knowing what it was for.
DisneyPhotoImage13.jpg

Decided to head toward DCA, and go turn in our dining vouchers for tomorrow to save time in the morning. MY GOD what an issue this was. We had bought the ones from Last Minute Travel, and I will NEVER work with that company again! We got up to the Guest Services window and the lady said there was no record of us having anything and she couldn't give us the vouchers! We called the dining line and they confirmed we had the ressie. So we called LMT and right off the bat DH said the lady had an attitude, going off about how Disney doesn't have their stuff together and they give them problems all the time. Dh had to go get back in line because she wanted to talk to the CM. I guess the phone went between the CM and DH for a few minutes with the LMT person getting more and more of an attitude, then she just hung up on the CM! I don't know what happened, but at the end we got our vouchers. I guess that's all that matters, but an hour out of day was wasted on this.

Finally went over to DCA and rode screamin again. I love this ride! We decided to make finny faces for the camera, as we've now ridden this one enough to know where it is, lol.
078.jpg

Went to look at the line for TSMM, but it was crazy so we decided to head toward the animation building. Stopped and got our picture with Santa on the pier, and got candy canes! They were drawing Mickey again at the animation academy, so we left there. Went into the Redwood Creek Challenge area and ran nto a couple of bears!
068.jpg

Walked around and read all the facts and looked at everything. Pretty sure I saw a cat slink by near the mountain lion fact post ;). Climbed all around in the ropes, which I think we enjoyed more than two 22 year olds should, lol.

072-1.jpg

Decided we were bored of DCA and hopped back to Dl. I don't NOT like DCA....but I just don't feel like i'm at Disney there. I'm paying to be at Disney, not random park. It's nice and some of the stuff is really cool...we just get so bored so fast. I hope it will be better when they are done with all the work they are doing now. I'm sure all that doesn't help with finding things to do.

So, went back to DL. Went and rode Space Mountain, because we had fastpasses. Walked a bit more, decided we were hungry. We picked River Belle Terrace. I got the turkey breast sandwich and Dh got the BBQ pulled pork. We were both very satisfied, and very full after. Left there and went to get some gingerbread beignets, but you can only get them at Cafe Orleans and the line was crazy long to get in. We decided on the regular ones from the Mint Julep Bar. Very dark at this point, so we decided to head toward Main Street. Watched the castle lighting and Dh bought me a balloon! It lights up too! (red, green, and blue) This is the biggest balloon I ever had, lol.
091.jpg

Rode the monorail around, found out the fireworks were at 8:40 and not 9 like we thought so we rushed back over to Main Street and grabbed some curb about 15 minutes before they started. Watched them, enjoyed the snow. Grabbed a cocoa from Blue Ribbon and headed out for the night. The cocoa from Blue Ribbon tasted different than the cocoa we got on the tour. I don't know if they were actually different, or what. Both good, but the tour cocoa was better. Ate our beignets in the hotel room. We didn't NOT like them...but we both aren't sure if they are something we would get again. Tomorrow is our last day :(

Today was noticeably more crowded, but it still wasn't as crowded as the last time we went. Weather was beautiful all day, cool enough to wear a sweatshirt but warm enough to not need more than that. Pics from the day:

I didn't actually take any photos outside of the Minnie & Friends Breakfast today, and those are all in their own post on this thread. Here's the reason for the lack of photos today:

Had to get up early again today. Alarm at 6 and in the shower. Had to pack up and get ready to go. Got DH up. Got everything organized and packed up, and we were running a bit late, but not too late to worry about it yet. Went down and checked out, didn't have any issues there. I did over hear the women in front of us talking about how they stay at Carousel a lot and are unhappy with all the recent changes, like the charge for internet. The man at the desk apologized and said the people in charge of their website are slow at updating the info on it. Went out and waited around for the "24/7" valet to show up so we could get out car and go. He finally showed up and we put everything in the car and drove to the Toy Story parking lot. Got on the bus and headed into DL.

We had about 30 minutes to kill, so we went on Dumbo and the Teacups (my favorite in this park!) one last time. Then we headed over to the Plaza for our breakfast, the review and pictures of which are all in their own post.

After we finished up there we had planned to stay in the parks until about 4pm. It was about 10:30 and PACKED. I mean, these were the worst crowds we have encountered at DL on any day this trip or last trip, and our last trip was over Memorial Day weekend. We walked around a bit to try to find some stuff to do, but it was hopeless. The line for HMH was wrapped almost to the Mint Julep Bar. Everything else was the same. There were even lines for the bathroom.

Then I started to feel sick. Something I ate did not agree with me, and though we don't for sure what that something was, we're thinking it was either the beignets or cocoa from last night. If that cocoa was made with milk, it would make the most sense. I shouldn't have assumed that all the cocoa in the park is made with milk just because what I got on the tour was. If you are also lactose intolerant, I would suggest asking at each individual place if it is made with milk or water.

We went into the PhotoPass store on Main Street and looked at a few of our pics, then ordered our CD. They said it would take about 20 minutes to burn and be ready.

We decided to kill that time by blowing our last $22. Dh had yet to buy a souvenier on either trip, so I told him he had to, lol. We walked around that big store on Main Street for quite a while, and he finally decided on a nifty PotC keychain. We had some cash left so we did what any responsible adult would do...ran down to the candy store! I got some mickey head shaped lollipops (so good) and DH got chocolate covered marshmellows. We went and checked on our picture CD and it was ready so we got that.

Went on sat on bench by the Christmas tree, and DH ate his marshmellows. It was starting to get quite warm at this point, to the point that the chocolate was melting and shiny. Between it getting hot, the crazy crowds, and me being sick, we decided it would be best to just go ahead and head home. We gathered up our things and took one last look down Main Street, then headed for the bus area.

It sucked to have to leave early on our last day, HOWEVER, i'm glad we did. We had four amazing, magical days in the parks. We rode all the rides we wanted to, in most cases more than once. (like 4 on Screamin and the teacups, 2 on HMH, etc) I met all the princesses, even the ones I thought I didn't have a chance at seeing. We met a ton of characters, took a wonderful tour, had a great character meal, got a lot of cool things and pictures. We watched the fireworks twice, the parade 3 times, fantasmic!, elecTRONica, the castle lighting, and the little show over at IASWH. We got "snowed" on several times, all of which were magical. We had some very good food, nearly perfect weather, and more fun than we could handle. We had an absolutely magical time, and it was hands down the best trip I have ever been on.

If we had stayed like we planned, I think it would have tarnished the trip. Our last night was spent with our arms around each other watching the fireworks and the snow, sipping cocoa. Our last morning was the breakfast at Minnies. That seems like a really good way to end it. Not waiting around in huge lines, hot, sick, not being able to do anything. Would I have liked to stay longer? OF COURSE. I wish I could be there everyday, lol. But not like that, not when I knew it wouldn't have lived up to the rest of the days.

So, we left around 1:30 instead of 4. We got very lost for about 40 minutes, then finally got on the road heading home. About 8 hours later, we were pulling into our driveway with some McDonalds in tow, lol. Now im back on my comfy couch, with my freshly groomed candy cane scented puppy. My balloon is still exactly as it was when DH brought it over to me, and is happily bopping around our kitchen ceiling, still blinking away, lol. I'm very tired, but I've got all my pictures uploaded and the ones I want printed are ordered from Walgreens. The house is clean and the laundry is washed and put away. As wonderful a trip as this was...it's still pretty nice to be home. :)

This trip was perfect. The only "bad" things that happened were the rain on saturday and the issue with redeeming our meal vouchers. We ran into a few rude people. But all in all, we really couldn't have asked for anything more or better. We had such good luck with characters, rides, shows, shopping, everything. We're already planning our next trip for next Halloween, as long as the Air Force doesn't tell us other wise. Thank you all for all the help in planning this trip, and for reading along with our adventure. Christmas at Disney is so much more than I ever imagined...more beautiful, special, magical, fun...just more everything! It's amazing and if you haven't experienced it yet, DO IT!

We watched the parade three times total, but I only took photos once so that I could just sit back and watch the other times. We watched both at night and during the day. I don't think one way was better than the other...all the lights at night were pretty, but being able to see all the little details clearly in the daylight was nice too. I took these picture at the 2:30 parade on Friday the 19th, from the reserved seating after our tour. These should be in order.

How fun ~ great fotos and a lovely report! Makes me excited for our visit over the next few days!

Very nice pics MattsPrincess from the reserved seating area for the Tour. I have also watch the 2:30 "A Christmas Fantasy" parade from IASWH area on that same day on Friday Nov 19. I was right by the drink stand between IASWH and Storybook Land Canal Boats.

This is my spot for the 2:30 parade

great TR. You two are just so darn cute! Looks like you had a blast. great pictures.

Someday, I'm doing this!! Thank you for sharing your trip report! I would love to do a tour, but I'll have to do a regular one since we only go in the summer...sniff, sniff. One of these days, we are going to have to go at Christmas again!!

Ok, the tour. I knew DLR offered tours, but never thought it would be something we would be interested in doing. Then I heard about the holiday tour here on the Dis. I looked into more, read reviews, and decided we had to do it.

I booked at the one month mark (by date, not by an actual count of 30 days). I got the busy signal the first 3 times I called. The 4th time, it rang through and I got to listen to some lovely music "from the parks" for about 30 minutes while I was on hold. Mid "yo ho, a pirates life for me" a very nice female CM picked up. She was very helpful, and we didn't have any trouble getting my tour booked. I booked for two adults with no discount, and the price came to $128.

Review- We had the noon tour, and were told to meet over in the Tour Gardens 15 - 20 minutes prior to that. Walked over around 11:30 and checked in, got our tags. We were starting to think it was just going to be the two of us, but finally about 10 till, 8 other people came too. We got out audio stuff and met our guide, Sheila. It was her first tour!

We listened to some music and walked around Main Street. We learned about why DLR does Christmas and some trivia about the tree. Stopped in and got our fudge sample, one chocolate and one peppermint each. SO GOOD.

Walked on down main street and into Frontierland. Saw Mrs. Claus walking by. Talked about different decorations and traditions, made our way toward HMH. Saw Jack and Sally! Rode HMH. Walked and talked, more music. Rode the train and sang Jingle Bells. Rode IASW. Went over to Clara Bell's and got our cookie and cocoa. (POINT OF INTEREST- I checked with the girl that gave us our cocoa to ask if it was made with milk or water, and she said water. I was a little hesitant still, but tasted it. It was too good not to try more. There couldn't have been any milk in it, because I am very lactose intolerant but I didn't get sick at all.) Went and sat in our seats for the parade and got our pins.

This was a lot of fun and well worth the money, I think. Dh and I both enjoyed it. It is a lot of walking, but it didn't seem to bad. There are a lot of breaks in between, whether it be on a ride, the train, stopping to talk about something, etc.

I just read your whole trip report and I really enjoyed it! You guys are such a cute couple. I really like seeing young adults that can really enjoy the magic of Disney.

Myself and my son, who is your age, (he turned 22 on Dec 31) were there at the same time. In fact, I found us in one of your pics. Well, at least him. He is in a couple of your flag retreat pics.:banana: I was so excited! Thanks to your husband for serving and protecting us!! It means the world to me and my son. It was a very touching ceremony, and I wish we would have done it earlier in our trip so we could have done it more that once.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us!!
