I'm sooo excited, I just have to share it! Grab some popcorn:: and a:drinking1 and sit back and relax because this may get a little long.:)

DH and I have had a trip booked for this July since Dec 30. At 180 days out, I made all of our ADRs, I even managed an early breakfast at CRT. Life is good- we're going back to Disney!

Friday I took a shopping trip and on the way home, I started thinking about the suite we booked at ASMu and how it could sleep 6. I was thinking about how nice it would be if my parents would join us on the trip. Now let me say that I've been trying to get them to go with us since our first trip in April of 05. They've always said thanks, but no thanks. Dad didn't want to go and mom won't go w/o dad (but she would love to otherwise). So I was driving along thinking since we were paying for the room anyway, they wouldn't need to worry about that. Same with transportation- we're driving, so it wouldn't cost them anything for that unless they chose to fly. All they would really have to pay for is tickets and dining plan. Maybe scooter rental, if needed. Hmmm...I need to have a talk with DH tonight!

The talk didn't happen that night because we had been busy doing other things and didn't get a chance to talk w/o our kids being around. He heads to bed early because he's up at 3:00 am to go to work. Saturday evening while on the phone with mom, the subject of our trip came up. DH smarted off and said, "Tell mom and dad they need to come with us this time." Mom replied, "Dad will never do it." After mom and I had ended our conversation, I asked DH if he was serious about mom and dad going with us. Come to find out, he had been thinking the same things I had been thinking. We do that alot- it's almost scary!:rotfl:

So I wake up this morning a woman on a mission. I wanted to get some hard numbers to present to dad. I also got to thinking about the pull-out beds and how mom and dad may not be comfy in them. Well, we could give them the queen bed, but then DH may not be comfy and that wouldn't be good either. I get on the computer, go to the Disney website, and start running different scenerios. I start to panic a little because everything was coming up more than I thought it would. I pull out my planning sheets and start adding up everything separately. The numbers aren't jiving. I call CRO. The computers are down, call back in an hour.:headache: Sure enough, the reservation part of the site is down too. I play around with numbers again on paper- what am I doing wrong? About an hour and a half later, I call. The quotes I was given still seemed a little high (for all scenerios). I messed with it some more. At that point I gave up on the 2 rooms and called CRO to find out what it would cost to add them to our existing ressie (I was running new ressie figures w/the suite). It came to exactly what I had on paper! I had pulled out the paperwork Disney had sent to give the CM our ressie number and only after I got off the phone did I realize what I was doing wrong all along. I was adding an extra day to our trip! DUH!!! I plug the right numbers in on the website- AHHH, that looks better! Two rooms it is! Off to give my sales pitch to mom and dad!

I should've called first because dad was helping my aunt with her taxes. I sat around for awhile, then told mom I would be back later. When I went back, they had just finished up. Aunt leaves. I give them my pitch. Dad says, "Talk to your mother." I said, "I want to know what you want to do." He says, "I'm adaptable- if your mother wants to go, then I'll go." I couldn't believe it! They're going!!!

Now we're getting to the good part. I scurry home and tell DH and the kids. DH was really surprised as he thought dad would say no. No time to talk- I have ADRs to modify! I make the call to dining. Was put on hold for awhile due to high volume of calls. That happened everytime I called- wonder if that had anything to do with that pin code that was sent out last week?:lmao: CM came on and I explain the situation to him and ask how to proceed. He says, "Let me see what I can do." You're not gonna believe this- he was able to bump all of our ADRs from a party of 4 to party of 6 AND keep the SAME TIMES AND CONFIRMATION #s! Then he went to work on the CRT ressie. Again, he was able to change it to a party of six, on the SAME DAY AND TIME! I got a different # on that one because we are paying oop for it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT LUCK?!!! About now, I am ready to FREAK!!!

After dinner, I call CRO again to re-book our package. I was on the phone for about an hour with a very friendly and helpful CM. She had forgot to cancel our first ressie before re-booking and basically had to start over. In the end, the total cost came out to be about $250 LESS than I had figured! Don't ask me how- I'm done playing with numbers for today!:rotfl: We are SET!!!!

I swear, someone sprinkled a little pixiedust: for us today. As I was watching Wishes from the DIS tonight, DS walked by my computer and said, "Mom, I think this is going to be our best trip yet!" Yes my son, I think so too!

Thanks for letting me share my excitement with you all!:)

That is awesome! Congratulations! There is nothing quite like going with your parents (or inlaws) and your kids. I've done that 3 times and one more trip in 16 days! Enjoy it!:cheer2:

That's so great! Congratulations! When I was little, my grandmother came on all our Disney trips with us and I'm so glad that I have those memories of all of us together.

Congratulations. One of my favorite trips was when we took my grandma with us. She had never been and the looks on her face were priceless.

I am so glad it all worked out. Sometimes things are just meant to be.

Thanks everyone! I still can't believe how everything fell into place! While re-booking, the CM asked me if I wanted her to connect me to dining after we were done. I told her I had already taken care of that. She asked if I had any trouble adding my parents on and when I told her what happened, she said that doesn't happen too often, especially with CRT. Then she asked me if I knew about YOAMD. I told her I had and have also looked at pics of the suite and it's beautiful. She said, "Well, you never know. Your party isn't too big to stay there." I said I would be happy with anything, but if we were chosen, I would :faint:. She made a note that this was my parents' first time. I'm not expecting anything to happen- I'm just happy they're going and if something does happen, it's icing on the cake.

New England Eeyore and jennyL- I used the "grandchilden and the memories" card to plead my case!:rotfl: Bad, I know, but dad can be a hard sell at times. The topic of discussion at dinner last night was what rides can we ride with grandma and grandpa.

I spoke with mom this morning and she said dad can't figure out WHY I'm doing all of the planning NOW? Silly man, he just doesn't understand.:sad2: I told her to tell him that I have everything taken care of and all he has to do is adapt!:lmao: (my dad is a bit of a wise cracker and got a chuckle out of it)

This sounds like my grandma. We left her in the lobby of the Poly while we ran back to the room to get something on our third day there. When we came back and got her on the monerail she couldn't believe that some people were upset that they couldn't get the dinner reservations they wanted. LOL (We had a meal planned every night and some lunches since I knew this was a once in a lifetime for her.) After hearing they other people complain she finally understood why we plan so far in advance. It just makes life so much easier.

Forgot to mention that I've also had people at work that haven't planned eventhough I've given them all the tools and have come over once they've come back and said they should have listened to me. Needless to say they next time the go they are over asking all kinds of questions. LOL

That is so cool!!!! Have a great time and best of all hope the kids have a great time with their Grandparents there!!! Now you will have to do a special Disney scrapbook with the kids and grandparents for their first trip together!!!! Wouldn't that be special!!!! You will have to do a gift album for your parents as a keepsake too!!!! They would really love that!!!!

I've already thought about that! I told dad I was going to buy him some mouse ears with his name on them so I can take a picture of him on Main Street USA!:rotfl: I guess I need to get busy and get the last two trips done.:scratchin

jennyL- I think once we get down there and he sees the crowds, he will get it. I think most people just don't get it until they experience it for the first time, such in the case of your co-workers. At least they saw the error of their ways.:)
