We are so far behind. We used to go to WDW every 6 months from California. Now our kids are older and dont want to go :(

DH and I havent gone for two years. Whats new at the parks? We are trying to decide if we can see all the new attractions in three days? We are going on a 7 day cruise before WDW.

Thanks!!!!
Deb

First question....have you used FP+ or is that new to you? If not, you might want to do some research on that. I think there are more closures than new rides! Have you done 7 Dwarfs Mine Train in MK? The Great Movie ride changed the ending movies.

No, we havent been on either. I think they were working on it. Great Movie Ride, havent been in years. Ill write both of these down. I remember riding the new Star Tours last time

Thanks

The green link in my signature covers FP+, but be forewarned it's not a short read.

Sorry, I meant 7DMT in Magic Kingdom. I changed my post with the correct info. And please read mesaboy's link for FP+, this is a major change in the way you will tour WDW.

Very condensed version. There are no FP machines anymore. You have to make reservations online ahead of your trip. 60 days prior if you are staying at a Disney resort (and doing it at exactly 60 days out is imperative for some rides 7DMT being one of them). It allows you to have 3 FPs per day at one park. If you are not familiar with My Disney Experience you will need to make an account. Also you might not have used magic bands the last time you were there. Magic Bands are your key to everything.

Oh, i remember. They just started to use the bands. I guess I am familiar with it then.

Getting excited. I think we need more days!

1. Set up an MDE account now
2. Link your resort reservations
3. Link your theme park ticket numbers
4. You're past your 180 mark (if you are going in 4 months) so any ADRs should be made on MDE
5. Personalize your magic bands on MDE
6. At 60 days, make your fast pass choices on MDE

Magic Bands will be mailed to you prior to your trip.
They are used to:

Enter your resort room
Enter all theme parks
Enter the fast pass line for rides for your scheduled time
Used for charging purposes
Used as your personal identification, they are not interchangeable with other people

Like others have said, FP+ is the major addition, definitely read the guide linked in previous comment, be ready to book your FP+ reservations 60 days out. Lots of threads on here with people's experiences with FP+. Only major new ride I can think of is 7DMT.

You will have time to get your FP+s as PPs have said. Your bigger issue is going to be dining- but you will find that out soon enough. With the 180 day window, almost everything decent and/or desirable will be long gone by the time you check. We did a 'last minute' (in Disney time) trip this year as well- and I have been able to get almost everything to shake out that I wanted. It took some tenacity and frequent checking every day- but most everything dropped into my lap, including BOG. Interestingly enough, BOG popped up several times as being available over the course of the week that I was doing a lot of checking.

Anyways, the other thing you will want to keep in mind is the 45 day package cancellation window. The exchange rate is terrible for some countries right now, and my guess is there are quite a few people 'holding out' in the hopes of a reversal in the exchange rate- which probably will not come to pass any time soon with the recent devaluations in China. This, in addition to all the 'regular' cancellations that come up, will make for more opportunity at the cancellation deadline. Those reservations being held until the deadline are going to cancel at somewhere around 51-46 days out (just a guess)- and a whole lot of desirable ADRs and FP+'s are going to shake loose, so check during that time period if you don't get what you want.

I went ahead and printed everything so DH can take care of it when the time comes

Thanks Everyone!
Dev
