We went to Disneyland 20 years ago and bought the park tickets at the Desert Inn and Suites and they were cheaper than buying through Disney. We won't be staying there this time as they aren't a good neighbor hotel so thinking of the Fairfield Inn. So basically my question is two fold. Do the hotels still sell park tickets and are they cheaper and has anyone stayed at Fairfield Inn and did they like it?

We loved the Fairfield Inn! Super cozy bed, very friendly and accommodating staff, a small store in the lobby for the essentials, and a very nice, clean pool / hot tub area. The property is very well kept and a Panera Bread just opened in the front parking lot.

I think Disney has better control of their ticket prices these days, and buying them via a Good Neighbor Hotel would result in the same prices as the ticket booth. But you get to skip the ticket booth, which is awesome! I like to order my tickets direct from Disney before the trip to skip the ticket booths, and I think they are the same price as at the ticket booths, too.

Have fun planning!

Pre-purchased tickets that are three or more days will provide one Magic Morning in Disneyland. Those days are Tues, Thur and Sat.
If you buy tickets once you've arrived MM isn't included.
I don't know how it is if you buy your tickets from the hotel you're staying in.

I thought that good neighbor hotel qualifies you for early morning entry. If not what is the point of the good neighbor hotel? I'm confused.

The Good neighbour hotel designation just means you can book a vacation package directly through Disney and stay at those hotels and get all the package perks (luggage tags and things I think). Most advance purchase tickets of 3-5 days come with one Magic Morning. These tickets are available for purchase by anyone and you can use your ONE Magic Morning entry on to Disneyland Park any available day (usually Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) On site hotels (Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian) are eligible for Extra Magic Hours every morning of their stay - including both check-IN and check-OUT day. These are generally everyday and basically alternate between the two parks Disneyland falls on the same days at MM and California Adventure is generally Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. The ONSITE hotels are the only way to get in to DCA early.
