Yes....common problem with regular TR writers.

I write mine in a word processing program (such as MS Word), complete with picture links, and save it. Then I copy and paste into the Dis, preview the post and make minor edits before submitting. That way, if things crash, I can always go back to the word document, cut and paste all over again.

If you're TR is becoming major long, then it might be worth considering.

FWIW - Most TR writers use this method, most of the time.

I have done this for some of the updates. For some reason on this one I was only stopping to "copy" the text into my clipboard. Which is fine if I accidentally close my window or if it freezes. But not for a restart! oh well. I'll just have to write it better this time!

Taste of Melbourne

Today, I headed out to attend yet another one of those festivals that Melbourne regularly hosts…..The Taste of Melbourne.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne069.jpg

(It’s made out of CAKE! and fondant.)

The festival was held at the Royal Exhibition Building.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne003.jpg

If this building looks familiar, perhaps this will make it clearer for you.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne084.jpg

The dome that sits atop the building was the backdrop for the Winter Festival, only weeks ago!

This time, we get to go inside. Lots of stands from the front of the building….

2011September18TasteofMelbourne005.jpg

…and I did eventually make my way to the back of the building! Yes, the stands go all the way around the sides of the building and upstairs.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne044.jpg

That dome? Looks like this from the inside….

2011September18TasteofMelbourne015.jpg

….and my artsy shot of it was a matter of luck and being around at the right time.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne066.jpg

The stands? The list was endless….another wine maker, another foodie….and everyone of them eager for me to take pictures. Seems like I either looked like an official press photographer or a foodie blogger today…..because I was asked numerous time who I was working for! And yes, there were free samples to taste and try!

I thought that I’d taken a broad cross-section of the food; but when I got home and unpacked my pictures, the major focus was definitely bent….well……see for yourself….and feel free to pick the anomaly in the set!

There was definitely a second sub-theme to my pictures today….

(I’m going to post this one on that Scollies and Bacon thread!)

2011September18TasteofMelbourne006.jpg

And there was definitely absinth in this cascade.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne007.jpg

Free tastings of Ginger Wine! (Come to think of it, there were a lot of free tastings of alcohol....)

2011September18TasteofMelbourne021.jpg

There were quite a few show-and-tells and masterclasses. I spotted this place prep-ing for a class….

2011September18TasteofMelbourne023.jpg

…..remember what I said about being mistaken for a foodie blogger or a press member? Well, ask and they shall let you in…..

Isn’t he great? (And his bartending skills weren’t too shabby either).

Mai Tai punch. And quite a punch it was!

2011September18TasteofMelbourne048.jpg

2011September18TasteofMelbourne072.jpg

And just in case you thought it was all wine and spirits, beer also featured predominantly.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne059.jpg

2011September18TasteofMelbourne038.jpg

As did mineral water….this place offered an endless stream of samples. It was hard to even get to the front of the stand as people just kept drinking two or eight samples at a time!

But the Taste of Melbourne is all about food….particularly food offered from the various restaurants around town choosing to brag about their tasting menus. I’ll just say that this is what I….er……WE………ate.

From the Libertine and Le Traiteur restaurant, this was a Terrine du porc. Pressed terrine of free range port and veal, toasted brioche and Dijon mustard.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne050.jpg

Also from the same restaurant, the Toulouse cassoulet. Confit of duck, garlic sausage and white beans, oven baked.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne056.jpg

2011September18TasteofMelbourne051.jpg

From the Mahjong Black kitchen, Peking Duck wraps.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne060.jpg

Mezzo and Mister Bianco tempted “us” with the Pizza lunga. Smoked mozzarella, cured oceantrout, rocket and candied walnuts.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne070.jpg

And from the Stokehouse, the selection was the seared scallops, green chilli aioli, almonds and celeriac remoulade.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne042.jpg

I…er…we had room for only two desserts.

The Stokehouse put together an Eton Mess. Rhubarb, meringue, Turkish delight and a violet and rose geranium flavoured sorbet.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne080.jpg

And finished with Sarti’s offering of Pistachio panna cotta with caramel salted popcorn.

2011September18TasteofMelbourne081.jpg

All in all, we had a great time at the Taste of Melbourne. The food was good and at times great. And there is no denying that it was a very pleasant way to have lunch.
The bonus for me was that this sort of food was available for prime time shooting during daytime hours! And never were people so willing for me to take pictures....especially when, in the end, I gave up on the No's and said that I was taking pictures for a blog.

Well......the Dis sort of qualifies!

Just wake me up in a week or so. I definitely need to hibernate for a bit!

Sleep well all, I'm going to try to fall asleep again. :headache:

Scallops, ugh. You won't want to hear the story about scallops that I know. You may not eat them again.

How much did all of these offerings cost??

And where....are.....the.....Lamingtons!!!

Sleep well! You're right! I don't want to hear your story about scallops. They are one of my faves and I like to keep it that way.

I saw lamingtons but they weren't porn worthy.

Most of the (small) samples at the stands were free; or if not free, then they were about $2 or $4.

The restaurant food ranged from $8 - $12 per plate. I didn't EAT all of the plates.....some of the people were practically inviting me to take pictures of their food. Some even let me get behind the counter. I don't know why.....perhaps I had the word Foodie Blogger tattoo'd on my forehead or something today.

:lmao: I meant there was a lot of giggling and laughing and goofy, geeky behavior :)

This isn't what I was thinking! :rolleyes1

Nice pictures PIO! Those were nice portions, it looked like a lot of fun!!

I have a busy day today. I was cooking all last night for the dinner after rehearsal, so we need to leave for rehearsal at 2PM. I have to get groceries this morning because at 6PM the grocery workers are going on strike. The market chain I shop at plans to close down so we refilled all our prescriptions and will stock up on TP and frozen goods.

Maybe I'll post pictures of the "digging out" if I have time.

Good morning, I'm out the door to enjoy a so far overcast morning.

OK, so here's the rub. Our whole house is a clutterfu*k. We have too many of everything and no place to store them all. This is our living room coffee table and until yesterday just about every surface in the house looked like this.

However, we discovered that we have a couch.

Well it looks like we have a winner, hope no one is bidding on it. It's only 110 thousand. Hopefully we will know something tomorrow. We can't submit a bid until tuesday

Hope you win Usnuz. Evening(sort of) everyone!

Hope you feel better. We dont know if anyone is bidding on it. I will know more tomorrow. Your weather is cooler?

Took much longer than I expected...lol...but I've been playing with mobile photo bucket and finally successfully sorted it....and managing to copy the link...

That's the hardest part...copying the link!!

Wouldn't have done it between file sorting (aka computer thinking time) if I'd known...

Anyhow...

This is a really nice pic BF took while he was here

It is our national flag and state flag (NSW) flying proud on the Harbour Bridge.

Plus people doing bridge climb. We did this the first time he came here. So much fun...best day ever...but rather expensive at $200 a person...
