All caught up. Wow we are missing alot of people today. I know your busy Alison and PIO. See I live a boring life.

I'm here! I hope skiboy is OK. Dana's in like, so we know where she probably is! :rotfl2:

Thunder, wow how exciting. I want rain, I am so tired of the heat. I know it is unusally quiet tonight.

No lightning. Just thunder....seems to be moving right away now....no, there's another rumble.

Sharon, chris wanted to know how you look up the job ads over there?

As in general employment vacancies?

  1. There is a website...seek.com that most people use.
  2. Then on Saturday, one of the Melbourne newspapers will have an Employment section that advertises positions vacant. I expect that the different city/regional newspapers will have a similar printed section on Saturday; but seek.com will have Australia wide jobs.
  3. There are also 2 Australia wide newspapers - The Australian and The Australian Financial Review. Both of these will have professional and/or managerial positions advertised on the Friday edition.

We also have employment agencies for the professional jobs. Most of the large corporates will use them for the initial vetting of potential candidates. Some of these positions may never be advertised, so you pretty much need to pound the pavement or let your fingers do the walking and call on each and everyone of them as well.

I'm loading the last set of pictures up from the Show. Might start working on putting some up here.....gonna be done in 'chapters'....we'll see how we go.

And I just realised the time. I'm going to have to go pick up DS in about 10 minutes from his holiday activity.

We booked him into a science day today.

If it's September in Melbourne, it means spring, school holidays, Aussie Rules football finals and the Royal Melbourne Show. The Royal Melbourne Show is an annual event that has been held since 1848. Billed as "bringing the country to the city", this event includes animals & livestock, food & wine, arts & crafts, carnival rides, showbags, free live entertainment, fireworks and more!
It is held over 11 days, coinciding with the spring school holidays, at the Melbourne Showgrounds - over 19 hectares of indoor/outdoor space, all within 7 km of the CBD or a 10 minute train ride out.

For the RMS, the showgrounds look a lot like this:

I attended the show over 2 days; so you might see a variety of weather in my shots....from brilliant sunshine and blue sky on the first day; overcast, rain and wind on the second day. Typical Melbourne weather!
