It's Almost 2026, Would You Buy a 2042 Resort?

Why do I see value in the coming years for BCV/BWV in the next 15ish years. I have to believe as we near expiration, more folks that are buying recently to stay where they love is going to be make the 7 month even tighter. As others have shared, if people use their BCV/BWV almost exclusively for their points, there will be less slack in the system.

I just hope they are still affordable and not overpriced. At some point soon it will be cheaper to rent than to buy.

I’ve been told it’s always a slow time of year.

I follow only certain listings when they come available and every one I follow sells very quick some as quick as 1 hour, some take a week or two. I don’t see time of listings on market to be any different than 6 months ago. The only caveat is I am not following overpriced SSR, OKW or AKV’s.

Most Boardwalk’s I follow are selling even though they are a 2042.

I follow from the day they get listed I don’t just go and look at listings times. I save them and note the time and date, I don’t use aggregator listing times shown.
I think we might be following different resorts. You know, I can still see BWV selling well due to the point charts, even with the short expiration. I'm sure many people have done the math. But my eyes are in the other direction, either MK area (Poly, BLT, CCV) or west coast. At this point, I'm full up on SAP points. I've been keeping dates as well. I figure around the one-month mark a seller--or at least a few of them--if their contract hasn't sold, might start to look at offers around 15-20% off a little more welcomingly. And I'm surprised that I'm seeing contracts that I think are priced well sitting online without selling for that long, but I'm seeing it happen. I've got one right now I'm just waiting for it to hit the one month marked (presently priced $1pp below the DFL average). But we're looking in two different areas. Over on Crescent Lake, I can be tempted by Beach Club, but only for the lazy river. The lazy river goes along way toward making the resort for me. But all of the rooms in the EPCOT area, including RIV, at least for me, push the button just slightly of: this feels a little like a work trip. Whereas I never get that vibe over at Poly, CCV, and to a lesser extent BLT. But to each their own. We're all looking for our own things.

It's interesting how people value things differently. I might hit up the pool one day max at Beach Club. It isn't my focus at the resort. I like it, but it's not why I like Beach Club. I value the proximity, plus I just like the feel of the resort!

Renting isn’t as flexible as owning though so there is a worthwhile premium to owning. I would compare to paying cash rates when making my analysis on if it’s worth it or not. But that’s just me. I gamble but on different things than others. I gamble on DVC but not on myself keeping plans.

I watch BWV prices. It’s still more than I want to pay but if that dropped to where I wanted to pay I would buy. We currently do not own. That is my favorite resort but I prefer a hotel room over a studio and I enjoy club level, which is why I haven’t bought. But for the right price…
We did enjoy the BWV club level…. such a friendly staff…..

That sounds awesome. There's a lot of different vibes in the DVC set. Everyone should find the thing that fits them. I was mostly pointing this out as a way of saying, we were monitoring two different areas entirely which might account for some underlying sales differences.

I never thought I would buy a 2042 resort but just bought a small Boardwalk. Now I want more! As said above it is not about the best value it is about owning where you want to stay. There is something freeing about having the contract and not worrying about maybe reselling it or changing it...just being happy with it and knowing the certainty that you can stay there.
We bought 55 last year “just to try it” in March of this year. This is what happened afterwards….

AstroBlasters---$105-$17059-150-BWV-Feb-0/24, 180/25, 150/26, 150/27- sent 4/1, passed 4/25

AstroBlasters---$115-$3900-25-BWV-Feb-0/24, 25/25, 25/26, 25/27- sent 6/2, passed 6/27

The Beach Club also has access to all of those nice Yacht Club food offerings as well…. Heaven help me if they announce a Yacht Club DVC….

Amazingly I still haven't eaten at Yacht Club (we usually do dinner in Epcot; my kids love the BBQ spot in America), but that will be rectified shortly, the first night of an upcoming Parents Only vacation.
