It's Almost 2026, Would You Buy a 2042 Resort?

It depends entirely on the price. At current prevailing prices, the resulting savings from owning at a 2042 are just so limited vs just renting. My spreadsheet indicates that even with the cheaper points charts, most of those resorts result in more expensive per night cost than resorts like BLT, CCV, or SSR. If you want to stay at 2042s, the more financially sound play would be to buy one of those, and try to book at 7 months at the 2042s. If you want the purchase to "end" in 2042, then resell the contract then. It will still have ~15-20+ years left and thus plenty of value. You get the lower dues for the duration. Sure you won't be able to get the cheapest room types, busiest seasons of the year, etc. But you will probably still get to stay there regularly, and it's a decently large financial difference.
That's what we did to start. We bought a large SSR contract. Once we realized we wanted to go during one of the most popular times we decided to changes things up. Not that our stay at SSR was bad but it's not convenient to the parks when going to the Christmas parties.

Absolutely - but only at the great prices we see on the rofr thread.

The older point charts are simply better. Pick your week and compare the points needed for boardwalk resort view vs bay lake (most comparable in my view). To get the same sized room you need more bay lake points and pay more dues.

Yes you can rent points for $20/point, but you're not getting a confirmed resort view reservation at boardwalk for anywhere close to that.

Some posters used a lower discount rate for cash/future stays. I'd argue a higher rate. In between money market and Disney loan rates.

Beach club has storm along Bay. Old key west has some really nicely priced grand villas. Vero beach airport has more flight options and is likely going to be more popular.

I have been holding off my add-on itis but I would let remaining time or current pricing stop me from adding more 2042 points. That said... Another direct okw-e sale would be nice as well.

We're heading to BWV in a few days for our first visit ever there (did a 7mo swap from our VGF home) and lucked into a Boardwalk view waitlist. All the BWV talk and pics have me excited!
Wow! This is our Boardwalk view! Spaceship Earth front and center when we walked into the room. Fireworks are going to be fantastic. Amazing first visit to Boardwalk!

Our room was ready when we landed and checked in on the app at 1pm. We asked for high floor and away from the elevators and they nailed it.

We could see both fireworks for MK and EPCOT from our balcony last night. It was pretty great.

I finally see what the fuss is all about for BWV! Gorgeous hotel and the rooms had a great refurb for the kitchen and bath that hasnt yet caught up across the lake at BCV. The pool was great and the slide is fun, all with an easy layout. The walk back from EPCOT was so easy and quick too. I do love my BCV though and won't be replacing it in my lineup anytime soon but can now appreciate the views and enjoyment available over here in comparison.

Moral of the story: don't skip 2042 resorts because of their timeline! Not every dvc purchase has to be about the best value. It's okay to just make it where you want to be and some of 2042 are pretty amazing!

I watch BWV prices. It’s still more than I want to pay but if that dropped to where I wanted to pay I would buy. We currently do not own. That is my favorite resort but I prefer a hotel room over a studio and I enjoy club level, which is why I haven’t bought. But for the right price…

The right price can be had if you dont mind getting turned down and making a ton of offers once the market comes back in a couple weeks. I paid $101 per point and I couldn't be happier about it.

I love getting a deal on resort view at BW, now Im even more excited to stay BW view eventually. I just love BW.

Yours was an amazing view! I would have guessed yours was Boardwalk view too. Great to know that view there could be had with a Resort/Courtyard view!

I've been really impressed with our first stay here so far. Beautiful place.

It’s technically garden/pool view or now called preferred, so cost the same as Boardwalk view, not standard or resort.

I'll be on the lookout for BWV but I saw a good price on a BCV contract recently. I'm hesitant though since I haven't stayed there although I want to say its similar to BWV but with a better pool.

I heard stormalong bay is great for kids but not so much for toddlers or little kids. I have BCV on my list of resorts to visit but it's not for quite some time.
