I had booked a room for oct 29,30 for hhn's. I booked at the hrh garden view for 167 ap rate. I was told that was a black out date. Well my triplets and 12 yo girls have disowned me for going way on halloween so i've looked at our weekend options and decided to call for 1,2 or 8,9, 10 the latter always sold out. Anyways today i got availablity for 1,2 at the hrh. So i asked for aaa rate well it's 191.20 for the gardenview room so then i inquired about my platuim upgrade. Holllllllllllld then nope blackout dates. At first she told me yes then checked with a supervisor then it was NO. So i said thanks hung up and called back this time i was just gonna try to get an ap rate if available. But first i went thur checking for a std room, yes they have one, yes AAA rate is available, and Yes on the upgrade!!! So i prceeded to book it. So i guess it's all in the csr you talk to as to what is allowed. The first gal told me AAA rate was not upgradable. So my advise is to try try and try again then book at your lowest rate offered. Best of luck and hope this helps someone else.

That is great advice. I have several sheets of rate quotes from both Be-A-Star and Loews reservations. Everytime I call the price changes. I guess that is why some people get the welcome gift and some don't. It just depends on who takes care of you!!

Partyof six....just wondering which number you called to book...did you use the loews number...thanks..amy

Hey amy i called be a star number. Let me update to say that a supervisor called me not an hour after i made the ressies' and told me that the csr made a mistake and rambled about blackout dates. I politely told her i hated it it was given to me and it was'nt my mistake. I had cancelled a prior ressie for less $$ to take this new one and i wanted my upgrade. She told me she was sorry no way was i getting it i could get the garden view for 191 i told her i did'nt have time for this i had triplets that just got off the school bus give me her supervisor. So i held the phone about two mintues she came back and told me okay she's gonna honor it i was real short with her (i was sooo busy with the kids)and just ackowledged her with okay then and she repeated her self twice i guess she thought she was doing me a huge favor. Since they changed all these rules the benefits sure don't seem to out weight those huge rates they are charging for the rooms. I stayed there the same time last year and got no hassle about an upgrade and got the ap rate!! I think black out dates are just silly with what you have to pay to be entitiled to the upgrades in the first place. Like i said if they give it to you fight them to keep it if you have to it's just silly.

I have found in the past that it really did depend on who you talked to while booking and at check-in as to what perks you receive. We were always very lucky. Sounds like those days may be over and that they are enforcing the new restrictions more.
