We leave in June for our 10-day trip! MIL/FIL are going with us. About 2 weeks ago, MIL inquired about possibly bringing my dd's 15 year old best friend along. I *never* thought dh would go for it. It's about $1200 to add her to our reservations. MIL said she'd pay half if we went the other half...but I still had to convince dh.
Well, I convinced him! I don't know how, but I did it!
Next I called dd's BFF's mom/dad. They were beside themselves. They couldn't believe we'd take their dd to Disney World! They were so sweet about it, and said OF COURSE she could go!
Now to spring it on the girls!
We thought we'd wait until Christmas, but we want to do both of them at the same time. We decided that we'd find a way to get our families together Christmas Evening and surprise them then. MIL ordered a t-shirt that said "I'm going to Walt Disney World," and BFF's mother ordered Mickey Mouse ears with their names on them. We thought we'd give the boxes to the girls to open at the same time. My dd knows she's going, but she has no idea her BFF is going. Sometimes these girls are a bit obtuse and just don't get it, so I prepared an invitation for the BFF and then a "clue" for dd.
DD's clue says:
June 2011 + (picture of both girls) + (picture of Mickey) = (picture of Magic Kingdom).
DD's BFF invitation says:

And then the best part is that we didn't have to do anything to get the girls together...they did it for us! They insisted that we get our two families together on Christmas. Both of us (BFF's mom and I) made a big deal at first about it being Christmas and wanting it to be just family, but we allowed the girls to talk us into it. BRILLIANT!!! We didn't even have to make up an excuse to get the two families together. The girls did it!!!
I'm so stoked! These girls have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA that we're doing this. NONE! I can't wait to see their expressions!
