Now in addition to Splash Mountain being closed small world is now closed during October and early November. Again, makes no sense to close popular attractions during popular times like Halloween time. My trip on late October is looking worse and worse...what's next Disney?

This is an annual closure to install the holiday overlay. Yes it makes sense. Rides have not had a major refurb since before the 60th started in May 2015, and IASW Holiday is popular and will run through January once it opens.

Wow, they put up that Christmas overlay pretty fast. I just assumed it was like a month's worth of work to do that!

So it takes 16 days to do the overlay for IASW, doesn't haunted mansion holiday take less than a week?

They're probably doing some basic refurb while the ride is down. It doesn't seem terribly long to me given the scope of the holiday overlay and the fact that they may have repairs and things to do while it's dry... Sorry you'll miss it on your trip, though.

i just hope they don't add any more...or at least tell us more in advance so i can plan accordingly.

It always takes a while to put those holiday decorations up! Have you seen how many lights are on Small World at Christmas time? It goes down every year at the same time pretty much. Haunted Mansion goes down for 2+ weeks as well every year.

It normally takes 18 days to install the IaSW overlay, so that's a little faster than normal, but within the range of what can be expected. Haunted Mansion usually closes for 18 days to have overlay installed as well (and 11 days for the removal).

It's also possible that Jungle Cruise will be closed during late-October/early-November, depending on when they plan to install the Jingle Cruise overlay.

Can anyone link me to the map on the disneyland site where I can see these refurbishment notifications? I can't seem to find it.

I know that on the official DL site if you click on the date(s) you plan to be there it will list the rides closed along with park hours, entertainment schedule, etc.

I learned my lesson last year when I went the few days after Halloween. Down for refurb was IASW, Jungle Cruise, Soarin, and Space Mountain (plus I think one or two other small rides). Splash kept going down so I only got on it once in 4 days!

I am going next week and all the Rivers of America stuff is down including Fantasmic, which I skipped last year to do the 60th Fireworks, Paint the Night and 60th version of WOC, so I am bummed about that. I guess its the price to pay for going "offpeak" (I thought the week of Halloween would be considered a busy time).

Rivers of America and Fantasmic have both been down for months as part of Star Wars land construction and it's been announced they won't be back until Summer 2017. Them being down right now is not an issue of you going "offpeak".
