We told our dd, who is 2, that we are going to Mickey's house but it was a secret. We don't want our families to know. (Saves us from guilt of seeing them, telling them no we don't need family straglers etc).

My dh and dd went to visit his parents and our dd told her Nana "Mickey's House. Yes!" She looked at dh, not sure how to decipher what dd told her and he just smiled and said "I have no idea what she is talking about."

Too funny. I guess dd thought it was a secret worth sharing.

That's doable at 2 (and cute!)...but just in case she's your only and you don't know this...it gets more "dangerous" as they age.

Our son told my MIL, who has had two heart attacks and has a serious problem understanding English despite having lived here for 40 years so we try to protect her from things (especially her misunderstandings), that hubby was diagnosed with diabetes (it was all very new, and it turned out to be the best diagnosis he could have gotten b/c he changed his diet all around) AND later on that he'd been laid off (with 2 months lead time).

Sigh. The first was at 4, the second was at 5.

So...just be careful.

Oh, and my son also "outed" us about our May trip for his birthday, to my brother and SIL in June, which hurt their feelings. :sad1:
