Ok first of all I just want to apologise for the delay in getting going on the trippie, things have been crazy with work and kids so I haven't had the time to devote to doing it properly - and if I'm going to do something I want to do it right!
Day 5 Universal Orlando
Today's weather was freezing again! We had hoped that after yesterday's little burst of warmth in the afternoon that it would be good again today but I'm afraid that it wasn't meant to be.
Lots of pictures today too!
We ate breakfast in the villa again so that we could get a full day in the park.
Not a bad picture considering it was out of the car window!
Arriving at about 10.30 we parked in Jaws parking and made our way into City Walk. We had decided to do the old Universal park today as we hadn't been on the Simpsons ride since it was built and fancied a go on that one today.
As soon as we got into the park we were greeted by the site of this.....
The Hollywood Rip Ride Rock It....... to say that I was excited would have been an understatement, we decided that Matt and Terry could go and wait inline first and get the baby swap tickets for it while Lou and I took the kids on Jimmy Neutron, I was a little disappointed that Harley was still too short to go on the moving seats on Jimmy, and had to go and sit at the front with Lou while Shelby and I were on the simulator seats further back. They kids absolutely loved this ride, one of the perks for Harley being at the front was that he got to play with the bubbles that they blow out during the Spongebob Square Pants bit. Shelby loved the Okey Kokey part with the bouncing seats and I have to say I actually quite enjoyed that too!
When we came out of the ride there was still no sign of the boys so we decided that as the line for Shrek was short that we would take the kids in that, the kids have really been taking an interest in the Shrek DVDs before we came away so they really know all the characters and stuff this year. They both actually sat down on their own seat throughout the whole show, and Harley managed to keep his 3d glasses on for about three quarters of the show!
We came out of the show and there still wasn't any sign of Matt or Terry so we decided to take a wander in the shop next to Shrek. I bought a Universal Studios shoulder bag and Lou bought a Betty Boop camera bag and a pink woolie hat as her head was cold!
Talking of heads being cold - these were the square trees lining the street where Shrek is....
Terry then appeared from nowhere and we made our way up to the HRRRI. As we were using the Child Swap we were ushered to the front of the line and I decided which tune to have on........ MC Hammer's You Can't Touch this! Oh my goodness the ride was awesome and we managed to get another go, which I had Black Eyed Peas Pump It as my sound track.
One thing to be careful of on this ride......remember to take everything out your pockets on your jeans as DH had his phone in his pocket and when we were going up the vertical part it started to slip out of his pocket
It as just about time for the Beetle Juice show so we went there and sat at the back, the stadium is like a wind tunnel and we were freezing, but the show was really good, we haven't seen it for years as the kids didn't like it last time we came to Universal. They enjoyed the dancing and got up and had a boogie themselves. I do think that Universal could change the theme of this show now though, it's been Beetle Juice for so long I remeber seeing it when I was little with my parents!
After the show we were getting a little peckish so we went over to the Midway Grill, we had the Marinated Chicken burger and fries. We take our own frozen drinks to the parks so we didn't need to buy any cokes. Here is Shelby with her Juice!
Next was Jaws, if only to get warm
the kids weren't that keen on it and Harley got a bit wet. The CM was really good on the ride and got everyone into the swing of things. There was a family of idiots at the back who kept standing up to take pictures and the CM had to stop the ride more than once. This was really frustrating as it kind of spoiled it for everyone else, they claimed not to speak any English too which made it really hard for the poor CM as he was trying to get them to understand that it was for their own safety.
Disaster was closed today, so we went on the Mummy, this was the first time since I had had my eyes lasered that I had been on this ride, I had never seen all of the effects properly up until now and I loved it, the beetles were a little scary but the ride is amazing.
We then made our way over to the Curious George Play area, it was a bit cold for the water part but we found the ball shooter area and the kids love this at Alton Towers so they were really pleased to find one here too. Lou and I bought ourselves a hot chocolate and sat on a bench outside and had a well earned rest!
We wandered back round to the other side of the park and Harley fell asleep in his buggy, so we decided to give MIB a miss today and go to the Simpsons, time was getting on a bit and we thought that Lou would have a rest while we took Shelby on the Simpsons as she was able to stay with Harley in the child swap area. They sent us off to a specific floor when they knew that we were doing child swap, presumably so that we would find them again after the ride this however didnt work and DH managed to totally alarm the CM on the exit by telling him we cant find the baby
when what he really meant was we cant find the baby swap area
The ride was pretty good, but honestly I think I preferred BTTF, Shelby wasnt too keen either, Matt and Terry thought the video in the waiting area was hilarious and were cracking up at it, while the other family who were waiting looked on rather bemused. I wasn't with them
After the ride we killed a bit of time in the shop
We are thinking of getting of these for our shop! Complete with waving hand!
It was now time for the Pet Show sorry I cant remember its proper name. I knew that the kids would love this so we woke Harley up and made our way up the steps.
Just as I thought the kids loved the show they are big animal fans so to see them all doing tricks and the birds taking the money made their day.
As we were leaving the stadium we noticed a CM telling everyone that the Madagascar characters would be arriving in 5 mninutes, and if we wanted to see them we had to wait now as there would only be a certain amount of people let in. So we waited and sure enough soon we heard I like to move it move it coming from down the road, the kids started to dance and we waited in anticipation.
We decided to call it a day at the park and wandered off to the exit along the way we found this
It was also going rather chilly now so Harley decided to snuggle down in his buggy and try and keep warm
Shelby had been saying that she felt a pit poorly in the last hour or so so we gave her some calpol and headed off via the sat nav to Logans Roadhouse, this was the first time that we had been here, Harley chose to eat with us but Shelby was asleep in her buggy getting hotter by the minute I had bought Boots own calpol and it appeared to be doing diddly squat for the temperature that she was getting. So we stripped her jumper off and hoped that she would cool down by the time we had finished eating. Harley LOVED that you could eat the nuts here, its a good job that none of us has a nut allergy!
Harley also couldnt understand why he was allowed to throw his shells on the floor.
Im not sure if he was actually eating them or what!
Looking for his shells!
We were very impressed with the size of the portion here, although Matt informed me that the steak wasnt as good as Chilis, but even still it was good. I had the hickory chicken which I enjoyed and the fries were particularly good. Sorry no pictures of the food! I must have been too busy eating!
We headed back to the villa and put Shelby to bed with some iced water to drink, hoping that she would be better in the morning.
