Hi to everyone, question, my family are cruising on the Magic in Nov. we have the 1 day at Castaway Cay and 1 day at WDW if some reason we can't stop at Castaway Cay say because of a storm (hope not) is it possible we could end up at WDW instead or do we just cruise around. Thanks

Usually you'll get a sea day out of it. They usually can't dock anywhere else as the ports are pre-scheduled and missing a port normally just gives you a float around day. This happened to us in Feb 2016. It was due to wind that kept us from docking at CC. If it's just raining, that shouldn't stop you. It's high winds that are a risk.

Thank you for the info. Just hope we don't run into any problems, it's our 1st Disney Cruise and I guess like everyone else you want it to go just right.

It depends on the reasons for the rerouting, the distance to travel, the costs and the availability of the alternative ports. We were on a spring break cruise this year that was supposed to go to St-Marteen. Because of a massive storm between PC and that island, the captain rerouted us to Castaway Cay on day 1, then went to Puerto Rico as scheduled, then back to Castaway Cay on the last day, as planned.

The only reason he could do that was because Magic was in dry-dock instead of CC. If it had been docked there, we would have had a sea day. In your case, it depends if a ship is using PC that day.

We were on the same cruise as Marc D. When we were first given the letter saying we wouldn't be going to St. Maarten, I was disappointed. However when I then read that we would get to go to CC twice I was extremely happy. This was our fourth cruise and we had been to St. Maarten before, so I didn't feel like we were missing out. Most likely everything will go according to plan for your cruise. This was the first time we've missed a port.

As others have said, missing CC usually just means an extra day at-sea. However, it may be possible for a Nassau stop instead. It depends on how many ships are already planned at Nassau. That might be considered for your itinerary since you don't have a Nassau stop already planned and you do have several days at-sea. Port Canaveral for an extra WDW day is extremely unlikely.

Enjoy your cruise!

Since Castaway Cay is the only foreign port call on those cruises, chances are if you can't get into Castaway Cay, they will try to get you into Nassau. If the storm is preventing any port calls in the Bahamas, you'll most likely have a day at sea. (They are going to head toward the Bahamas to try to make a foreign port call unless it is a significant storm. So they would be too far away to just "pop" over to Port Canaveral instead.) Just the logistics of getting everyone from Port Canaveral to WDW would keep them from replacing or swapping days for PC/CC. If the storm is significant, like Hurricane Matthew a couple years ago, you may miss Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral and find yourself in Canada instead! (We were on the rerouted Hurricane Matthew cruise - one of my favorites!)
