Itchin' For Some Fun...12/10/09 - 12/14/09...Finished 3/17

First of all, I love your screen name! I just found your TR and am enjoying it alot :thumbsup2

Thank you! And thanks for reading and commenting; I appreciate it!

My last full day was your Epcot day. It got awfully cold that night.

It really did! We were quite cold, and the rain made it feel colder!

I'm glad you were able to see Fantasmic and that you liked it so much! :thumbsup2

We really had no idea what to expect with Fantasmic, and we loved it! Can't wait to see it again, hopefully with the kids.

I don't think I could stand in line for 80 minutes. :sad2: However, you did get a lot of great shots of all the toys and such in the queue! :thumbsup2

It honestly didn't feel that long. Probably because I didn't have bickering kids whining and complaining. :rotfl2: Fantasmic is great! Will you be able to see it in July?

The Osborne Lights sure are amazing, aren't they? :goodvibes We were there the very first night of them back in November and it was crowded then too.

They were breath-taking! I am really looking forward to being able to share them with the kids!

See now if I had known that you were right around the corner I could have opened up my pharmacy and given you something for that rash.

Darn! :lmao:

You have the patience of a saint to wait in line for 80 minutes!

It really didn't feel that long! :goodvibes

Well, I'm one more DISer who is clueless about the TSM Party... guess it came out when I was on DIS-Boards hiatus! :confused3

The Toy Story Mania party was hosted by the Podcast Team as part of DISapalooza. It was from 9:00pm - 12am, after park closing. It included unlimited rides on TSM, character meet & greets, and carnival food. From the other reports I've read, it was a huge success! You had to register in advance; it was $25 per person or free if you had booked your travel with Dreams Unlimited.

Basically Jackie stole all my comments because she got here first...:lmao:

You'll have to beat her next time! :rotfl: Psssst...I have an update ready to go...:rolleyes1

Oh my goodness, I REALLY wanted one of those red time tags for some reason, and never did get one! Oh well. I guess it's kind of silly, but I was so hoping we'd be handed one.

Totally by accident, Tom forgot to turn it in to the CM. So he has a nice little souvenier! :rolleyes1

One of these days I'm going to make it to the Osborne Family lights. Until the, I'll continue to enjoy all the TR's which feature it. Great update!

I really hope you can make it someday! It was awesome!

Glad you saw Hollywood Studios in a new light.

Me, too! I can't wait to share it with my kids now! :goodvibes

And you rode ToT HOW MANY TIMES?????? You have left the rest of us weenies seriously in the dust.

Thanks so much for the comments about my screen name and my report. :goodvibes I don't think I would ever get tired of ToT. At least, I hope not!

We've all been known to have a meltdown or two especially in a busy park. I know I have.

I'm glad I'm not alone! :rotfl:

I can see the video now! :goodvibes It's great! :thumbsup2

Yay! :woohoo: Thanks!

Great update! I'm sorry you missed the party, but you did what was right if you weren't feeling up to it!

Yep, especially since we had a busy day the next day!

Now that you told me the crowds were not too bad this time of year, I am going to have to read this report to see some pics! It will probably take me a while since you are on page 26:earseek:! Looking forward to reading it!

Thanks so much for joining!

Thank you so much for posting the Osbourne video. I would love to see it in person some day!!!!

I hope you can get there. It's even more awesome in person!

I LOVED the Osborne lights but like you said, there were people EVERYWHERE it was insane!!!

I wish I had been able to just take a deep breath and find somewhere to sit and pull myself together. But I really did enjoy what I saw!

Hi Denise! I followed the link from your post on my TR. Sounds like you had a great time with your DH!

We had an amazing time! :goodvibes Thanks so much for coming over and joining in!

So add me to the list that has no clue what the TSM party is! Inquiring minds want to know.

The Toy Story Mania party was hosted by the Podcast Team as part of DISapalooza. It was from 9:00pm - 12am, after park closing. It included unlimited rides on TSM, character meet & greets, and carnival food. From the other reports I've read, it was a huge success! What a shame you missed the TSM party (not sure what it involved but it sounded fun) but you had a fantastic day anyway. The Osborne Lights are fantastic aren't they :goodvibes

It was such a good day! We didn't think it could get any better, but it did! :goodvibes

I'm having a blonde moment here.....but I think I get the trip report title now "Itchin" for some fun. I thought you meant you were ready or were looking for fun, but no, you were literally itchin.
If you're having a blond moment then I'm having a brunette moment 'cause I just realized she was literally itchin' too.;)
It took disneyaddicted pointing it out for me to get it! :lmao:

No way! Are you serious? I guess I was a little too subtle, huh? :rotfl2:

Those Osbourne lights look amazing! I so need to go at Christmas time sometime so I can see them!!!!!

Definitely! You won't believe how much more awesome they are in person until you see them!

Thanks for the video, Denise!

I'm glad it finally worked!

Yaaa I loved your update...TSM cue pics were great! I love it in there!

I loved all the life-sized toy pieces! :goodvibes

When I left off, we had just tucked ourselves into bed in anticipation of our Magic Kingdom day. It was also our last full day in Disney. But, it was a day full of fun, as we had tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that evening!

I had decided that I wanted to be there by rope drop today for two reasons: 1) It would be critical to come back for a nap, since the party didn’t end until midnight. By getting there for rope drop, we could fit a lot into our morning. 2) I just love the opening show and really wanted to see it!

We were up, showered, and ready to leave the room by 7:55. I ate my Mickey rice crispy treat from the evening before while Tom got ready. I am very particular about my rice crispy treats: they have to be fresh (meaning soft, not hard), and they have to be homemade. I didn’t have a whole lot of confidence that this was going to be any good, but boy was I wrong! That thing was sooo delicious!!!

When I opened the door to leave the room, the “envelope of shame” was hanging on our door handle. I turned to Tom and said, “Look, it’s the envelope of shame…” He was so upset and wanted to know what we had done wrong. I got a good laugh and explained to him that it was simply our Magical Express info for the following day.

It was already pretty warm out at 8am, and we noticed that the water jets around Goofy and his car were running. So we snapped a picture.

First order of business for me was to stop into Everything Pop and see if I could buy some hydrocortisone cream. My hands were so bad, and the sores were raw from me rubbing and scratching (even though I tried really hard not to). Thankfully they had the cream, and it didn’t cost me a fortune. It was $3.25 for a standard sized tube.

Once I applied a liberal coating to my hands, we made our way to the bus stop.

This picture was taken at 8:24am, so not bad for a 9:00 opening.

We would be attending this tonight!

The crowds didn’t seem too heavy.

I had purchased our party tickets online less than a week before we left home, so we needed to pick them up at will-call. I gave Tom the confirmation sheet and in no time he came back with these babies.

I asked Tom if he minded that we wait and not go through the turnstiles until after the opening show. I wanted to position myself right in the center of the train station, far enough back to see everything. When we had been there in 2007, we ended up squished in a crowd very close to the tunnel, and I couldn’t see much. He didn’t mind at all, so we parked ourselves on the concrete flower bed that sits right between the two sets of turnstiles and the wrought iron railing. Once the show started, I was able to stand up and not block anyone’s view. I took a few pictures while I waited.

Aren’t the decorations so beautiful?

The show is beginning!

I was so excited to be here! I love all of the parks, and I really fell in love with Hollywood Studios on this trip, but Magic Kingdom is the place where I feel like a kid again. It’s the place where it’s OK for me to get excited about princesses and big furry dogs and loveable mice.

Like this one!

Here is the lucky family who was chosen to open the park today.

Once the show was over, we quickly scanned our KTTW cards and walked in.

Up next...our Magical morning...

I still dream of being that opening family someday. There is something so magical about it.

What a great view you had of the opening show!!! :goodvibes Hope the rest of your morning turns out to be as magical!

Oh, and I love Magic Kingdom for the very reason you stated -- I get to be a kid again there! :lovestruc

Sounds like a great start to a MK day! In eight trips, we've never seen the opening with the characters. One trip, I'm going to make it!

What a fantastic view of the opening ceremony! It was well-worth the wait.

Your poor hands... definitely some kind of contact dermatitis. The hydrocortisone cream was a good call. :thumbsup2 Hope it helped!

I would have planned for a little nap, too! I just can't stay up late the way I used to!

Kathy

Ok, caught up now!

Your DHS day sounded great -- I'd love to take the animation class someday (and I liked your Tigger better!)

All that waiting (for TSM and Fantasmic) can make you just as tired as if you were moving the whole time, ya know?

I love your sweatshirt -- I agree, zippers are better!

I'm looking forward to hearing your MK day.

Oh, add me to the list of those who didn't get the Itchin' either.

"Envelope of shame" :rotfl2: I really, really don't like getting that. It's funny how when you are checking in you are on cloud 9 and then you hit rock bottom on check out. I know having another vaca helps a lot, but for me, it's still depressing to leave...

Thanks for the pics of the UP characters -- I hadn't seen them yet.
