Itchin' For Some Fun...12/10/09 - 12/14/09...Finished 3/17

I have a question........... what is that silver Mickey Head thing? Is it one of those things you stick to the back of your car. If so, I have never seen that, but I love it!

Your dh- What a good sport, posing for those pics!

He really is a great sport and pretty much did everything I wanted on the trip!

Great update ~ I love DTD!! :lovestruc I love WPE too, I can't wait to hear how you liked it.

We LOVED WPE!!! Pics in the next update!

And what a bummer about Space Mountain being down too. It seemed to happen a lot that week!

We were disappointed that we didn't get to ride it one more time, but glad that we had gotten to ride it that morning!

You really got some great souvies and an even greater way of paying for them!

Thanks! It was really nice to not feel guilty about spending money!

I really like the Santa Yeti and the bag underneath it! Maybe we can bring a Santa Yeti home in 2011. :lovestruc

The Santa Yeti was a huge hit with Maggie! It has a permament home next to her pillow!

I like your pin choices. The pins are becoming of more and more interest to me, since they are a nice small travel-friendly non-perishable reminder of the trips.

I agree! I just need to find a way to display them. I have three lanyards hanging from my bedroom mirror, but I'd love to do a shadow box or something...

It looks like you all had a great last morning at the World!

Yep, and it's not over yet!

Wow you did great with your Disney Visa, it must have been great knowing you had all that "free" money to spend :thumbsup2

It really made shopping so much more fun and guilt-free! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about WPE. I'm really considering eating here on our first night in April for dinner. Hope to hear good things!

You will definitely be hearing good things!

Love all your shopping pics---you made some good purchases.

Thanks; it was so fun!

I'm excited to hear about what you thought about WPE. We used to have one here in Atlanta that I ate at a lot but it closed up recently :guilty: It was always really good :thumbsup2 I hope the one in DTD is as yummy!

It was sooo good! I would absolutely love to have one around here!

Great souveniers. I love the Lady and the Tramp pin, too cute.

Thanks; that's my favorite, too!

Gotta love the Disney Visa!!!! :thumbsup2

Definitely!

There's my picture of the cinnamon buns. I knew you wouldn't forget to take one! I just knew it.

Wish I had one right now...:rolleyes1

You guys had such a blast and I love how you used your Disney Visa to the max.

We really did have such a good time! It was the first time in 10 years that we travelled without the kids just because--not for work or church. So fun!

Sorry to hear that your trip is coming to a close though!

Me, too...I think that's why I've been dragging out the report! :rotfl:

So sad you're almost done. :sad1: When is your cruise? I can't see the writing on your ticker.

Oh no, I'll have to fix my siggie. We're doing the 4 night Podcast cruise which is December 12 - 16. I'm so excited to meet the Podcast crew!

I have a question........... what is that silver Mickey Head thing? Is it one of those things you stick to the back of your car. If so, I have never seen that, but I love it!

Yep, it's a car emblem. It looks really nice on my red van!

I'm working on the next update right now, but wanted to go ahead and finish the story on my hands. They actually got worse after I got home. I had a job interview on Tuesday (we returned on a Monday night) and I was mortified about how my hands looked. The woman didn't say anything, so maybe she didn't notice...or maybe that's why I didn't get the job...:rolleyes1 Anyway, I went to the doctor on Wednesday and she was completely stumped about what it was. She felt confident that a contact allergy would have shown up on my palms. So she prescribed 10 days of prednesone and it took THE WHOLE TEN DAYS before I started to see improvement. The bumps are gone and there are no scars, but there is still some discoloration. If it ever comes back I'll have to go see a dermatologist for another opinion.

So, that's the end of that story, now to finish the trip!

I was just going to say that it looks like contact dermatitis!

You may never know what caused it... but if it happens again and you and your doctor can't figure it out, I would get an allergy patch test done. :thumbsup2

Lots of folks seem to be popping up with these kinds of irritating rashes on their hands. My doc thinks a lot of it is related to over-use of antibiotic soaps and wipes, which can be very irritating.

Glad you got fixed up!

I loved your guilt-free shopping!! That's the best way to use credit card, for sure!

So sad your trip report is ending... :sad1:

You need a ticker for your cruise!!!

Kathy

I loved your guilt-free shopping!! That's the best way to use credit card, for sure!

So fun! Everytime I make a purchase with the card, Maggie will tell me how much of that is going toward our Disney money. So it's a math lesson, too! :rolleyes1

So when I left off, we were headed here for lunch:

I had heard some many good things about this place on the DIS, that we just had to try it. Last trip we tried Earl of Sandwich and loved it, but we were excited to try something new to us. We got to WPE right at 11am, and I’m pretty sure we were the first customers of the day! We ordered and got our drinks, then found a table. A server brought us our meal, refilled our drinks as needed, and then brought out dessert when we were ready.

Tom got the Rigatoni with Chicken Alfredo; it came with a Caesar salad.

I got the roasted vegetable pizza.

We shared both, and let me tell you…it was THE BEST MEAL OF OUR ENTIRE TRIP!!! It was soooo good. For dessert, Tom got chocolate frozen yogurt with strawberries.

I got crème brulee.
Before:

After:

Before tip, this meal would have cost us $40.15, but we were able to use 2 CS credits. Unbelievable! It was basically a table service meal for CS credits!
Remember when I said we were the first customers? Well, this was the line as we were leaving:

At this point, we still had 7 snack credits, so we headed over to Goofy’s to see what we could get to take home.

Look at this huge bird we saw!

Tom found a shady spot to sit and answer emails, and I went into Goofy’s. I was really excited, because I remembered how good the create-your-own station was.

I knew that they had made changes to what was allowed for a snack credit, so I waited in the short line and asked the CM. She told me that my ONLY options were a stick of marshmallows that could be dipped in chocolate but NO toppings or a Mickey gingerbread cookie (again only chocolate, no toppings) which would be TWO credits! What??? I was so disappointed. But I pushed it aside and filled out my form to get three sticks of marshmallows dipped in milk chocolate. Then she tells me that they are out of milk chocolate. Are you serious? How can a candy store be out of milk chocolate??? So I thank her and told her nevermind. Before I left to go find Tom, I took a few more pictures.

Then we hopped a bus back to Pop for the last time. We got back around 12:45 and had until 3:00 before our ME back to the airport. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and we were both exhausted, so we grabbed lounge chairs by the Hippy Dippy Pool and settled in for a nap. First, though, I wanted to try the Tangerine Dream I had heard so much about.

It was delicious, but very strong. I couldn't drink the whole thing.

While I was sipping on my drink, Tom walked around getting pictures of the icons we hadn’t seen yet. And he got a picture of my Lady!!!

...continued in next post...

He got back, set the alarm on his Blackberry for 2:30, and we both fell asleep. We even got our mid-day nap on our last day!

When the alarm went off, we headed back into Everything Pop to use our last CS credit and our remaining snack credits. We got a Double Cheeseburger meal to share.

Tom used 2 of the snack credits to get a fruit bowl and a Mickey bar.

I used 3 of the remaining snack credits to get Mickey rice krispie treats for the kids.

The last 2 credits were used to get bags of nuts for the plane ride home, although we ended up not eating them until a few days later.

We did a little more exploring in the lobby before heading out to Magical Express.

(My mom had these canisters when I was a kid.)

(Tom and I have this game.)

While we were waiting to get our carry-ons, we did our best “sad to be leaving” faces.

Tom said my face is pitiful, but that’s how I was feeling!

A few more pictures as the bus is pulling out.

And then the most depressing picture ever…

Our flight home was uneventful and the kids and dog were beyond excited to see us.

Up next…final thoughts…

I'm so sad your TR is ending!

I'm so happy though that you enjoyed WPE and had a great experience. It really is a great deal for a CS meal on the DDP. I remember our bill being $60-something for the 4 of us!

I too was very disappointed in Goofy's this time around. It has progressively gotten worse every time we go in there. I don't think we will even stop there next time. :sad2: It's really too bad, we used to love going there.

Thanks for sharing all your magical Disney adventures with us! :goodvibes

So sad to be leaving Disney :(.

Lunch at WPE looks delicious -- I have seen so many great pictures of the food from there that I want to eat there on our next trip. It looks so good!

Yeay! A Mickey ice cream bar! Perfect last treat from Disney! :thumbsup2

WPE is a favorite cs with my family. Glad you enjoyed it!

Great pics around Pop. I think the theming there is really fun.

It's always sad to leave but hopefully the kids and pets being happy to have you back made it easier! :)

Thanks to you WPE is definately on my must eat list next trip. I am pretty sure we will be spending an evening in DTD and I think WPE will be dinner.

No milk chocolate at Goofy's? what's up with that????

Your face does look pretty pathetic. I know how you feel. Leaving is the WORST feeling.

But you guys had a great trip and having future plans definately takes the sting out of a trip ending.

Loved the TR and looking forward to your final thoughts.

Lunch at WPE looked yummy and a bargain since it was CS!

I've enjoyed reading your adults only TR. :) Looking forward to reading your final thoughts.

So when is your next trip? AND your flight home was EVENTFUL! You met me!! LOL

I'm so glad you liked WPE! Your meal looks delish! :thumbsup2

But how sad that the trip has come to a close. :guilty: I'm interested to hear your final thoughts, though! :goodvibes

So sad to be reaching the end of your report. I can't believe that Goofy's had no milk chocolate. What a disappointment!
