Italy --- never again

Sorry to all the people that had a terrible expierence :guilty: I honostly think it is just hit or miss with that place. DH and I have eaten there 3 different times, loved it the first time, had a rushed, mediocre meal the second time. 2 years later deciced to give the place the benefit of the doubt, and ended up having a wonderful meal! Maybe going for lunch instead of dinner would mean less crowds? Although I know crowds are no excuse for mediocre food!

We tried Alfredos on our last trip and it was downright nasty. Besides being harrassed for not wanting wine with our lumch, DH's salad was warm-sent it back. The hot appetizer was cold-sent it back. By the time we got to our meal, we were expecting the worst. Our meals were atleast the right temperature, but they lacked flavor. We would never eat here again!!
The funny thing is we never went to Alfredos during our previous 4 trips b/c of all the bad reviews we had heard. When we made this PS, friends of ours warned us....we didnt listen. Now we know!!!

We have had both a wonderful experience and a horrible experience. My first time at Alfredo's in 2/02 was wonderful, we had a 5 month old with us. In 2/05, we went back with my dad...this time we had no priority seating, but we were able to get right in. We were put in a corner table and right as you walk in...you kind of feel secluded in there. I'm not sure if this was because we didn't have ps or not...but another couple of tables filled in there...don't like that area. The food was good, but the service was horrendous!!

Dh and I had our second bad experience at Alfredo's this past fall. First, we waited for a long, long time to be seated (good 45 minutes after our PS time) only to find the restaurant not even 1/3 full. Then, we sat and sat and sat as we waited for our server. The food was terrible and our service was horrible. Despite there being a great number of tables available, a loud group of 4 was seated close enough to us that one lady's chair kept bumping into mine every time she moved. There was no music or singing. All in all, it was a horrible waste of time and money.

I have to agree I will never eat in Italy again. My DH, DS6 and myself. My son refused to eat the Pasta, all it had on it was butter and grated cheese. My DH and I ordered the Sampler. It was cold and the alfredo was gross. The cheese was only grated cheese melted, and it separated. The Gnoshes were still crunchy not al dente either.

Thank goodness we didnt order the salad the table next to us did and of the 3 people at the table not one of them would eat it. It was passed around and all refused all but a bite.

My DS asked for a gingerale and I almost croaked when I tasted it as I was passing it to him. It was gin and ginger. Can U imagine the issue that would have caused. PS my DS6 ordered it so the waiter didnt think it was for my DH or me.

We have eaten there 2 - 3 times since moving here beginning of 2004. I was first hesitant to eat there as they have such bad reviews.
OUr first experience was probably the best, although none were bad. But I did feel the service/server was "aloof" last time. As someone stated it was like they did not care if we were there one way or another.
And one time we had a hard time being seated. I am sure they lost the paper with our names on it. When everyone was gone that had waited for a table I asked about us and was looked at rather :snooty: as if I dared insinuate they did anything wrong. (But I am sure they misplaced our name to be called for a table.)
I suspect this restaurant has it's bad moments. Where other Disney (WS) restaurants rarely have a bad moment. Which is why they are so popular. (LE Cellier, Chefs)

My DSs want to eat at Alfredos but the answer is a definate 'NO'. Where we live in Connecticut there are Italian Restaurants on every corner and I mean good Italian restaurants. If you don't want Italian there are Greek restaurants. I can't understand paying top dollar for food that can't approach what we have at home. People from New Orleans must have a tough time eating out on vacation. ;)

Boy, I just came back with my grandmother, and she and I both liked Italy well enough. We didn't feel rushed (though I felt I knew more about the wine offerings than the waiter did--there was some pressure there) and the waiter was happy to get something made for her that wasn't on the menu. I had fish (a risky choice at such a busy place!) but it was really quite good--perfectly cooked. I'm sorry others had a poor experience!

We also had a very bad experience at Alfredo's. I do honestly believe that the CM's at this restaruant are instructed to act snobbish as part of the "atmosphere", since I choose to believe that there cannot possibly be that many snobbish waiters and waitresses in the world let alone in one restaurant. There must be many people who like this kind of nose in the air attitude because Alfredo's just keeps going on year after year.

Just wanted to mention that a couple people said here that I should have complained. I did complain.

I was shocked when drinks, appetizers, food came all together and complained immediately. They took the food away, then the waiter asked if I wanted him to bring the entree back later. I figured it would have sat on a warmer drying out until we were ready so I figured we'd better hold onto it. Plus, with the snotty attitude of the waiter, I was afraid what may happen to our food if it were out of our sight.

Re the birthday song, I spoke to the waiter on the way out and he couldn't care less. He didn't even apologize, just said they were busy and that he forgot. He gave me a look that said, "So what?"

Being from an italian background need our pasta fix and after 4 times trying Alfredo's we finally crossed it off our list. We found the waiters snobby, the quality of the food very erratic sometimes terrible sometimes good. But for the prices they charge I would expect better.

We went with my brothers family and his MIL who came from Italy. They really wanted to try it no matter how mixed reviews. That wound up to be our best experience. My brother MIL and the waiter hit it off, knew same places, churches, came from the same area in Italy, it was the best service we ever had. Even though we all agreed the food was nothing to write home about.
