Where can I get good Italian food at WDW? Nothing fancy, just "normal"stuff. Like chicken parm, ziti, ravioli, chicken marsala. What restaurant has this kind of food without me having to order off the kids menu!?

IMO, there is no where on property that serves that type of Italian food. If you really want that there are several off-site restaurants that will fill the bill. Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill, Carabba's are a few chains that come to mind.

We went there for the 1st time last week. When we were seated they brought out the bread, it was sour dough. I was not expecting that and didn't really care for it. I'm used to regular italian bread or maybe semolina. But when we got our dinner it was great. DH had a pork loin special they had that night he loved it. I had the rigatoni & sausage great also. We didn't have dessert too stuffed. Would definately go back there (except for the bread).

Mama Melrose has a very good chicken parm with spaghetti. Or you can order just a dish of spaghetti, even though its not listed on the menu.
My problem with a lot of the WDW Italian restaurants is that most dishes include fish. Even if the menus have a fish section, when you go to the pasta section at least half of the pasta dishes include some sort of seafood. That always bugs me since I hate seafood, but love pasta.

try Alfredo's in Epcot. They have some of the basics and then their specials. If you like fettucini alfredo, it is very good there. Try looking at the menus at allearsnet.com Hope that helps:earsgirl:

I've tried Mama Melroses, Tony's, Portabello, Alfredo's, and Palio, and the only one that I really, really like is Mama's.

Tony's, Palio, and Alfredo's leave much to be desired. The food and service at Tony's was so-so at best. The service at Palio was deplorable twice in a row, and Alfredo's, the words "tourist trap" come to mind. Very expensive for mediocre food and spotty service.

We had a bad experience at Portabello with poor service, but we'll give it another try sometime.

We've had consistantly good food and service at Mama's in the nine or ten years we've been eating there. In additional to some interesting takes on Italian, they also offer many of the standards. Enjoy!

Mama Melrose is our favorite, too, although we've never made it to Palio.

Great service and food at Mama Melrose. Ask for Dori or Kevin... you'll think you're dining in the neighborhood..and I don't have a drop of Italian blood as far as I know!

We loved Tony's Dec 2002 when Crystal Palace was closed & Tigger & friends were at Tony's instead. They offered a great deal that included an app, meal & dessert for one price. Their chicken parm was really good. However, we returned there March 2003 & tried to get chicken parm & it wasn't on the menu & was told it wasn't available. We both tried other meals, but weren't overly impressed, plus we had poor service to boot. :(

We won't be returning to Tony's anytime soon, but have talked about trying Mama Melrose's - I've heard many poor reviews of Alfredo's, too. HTH!

Another vote for Mama Melrose.
