Experts strongly suggest that we stop using Windows XP because it will no longer be secure.

Experts that want you to buy a new computer... Seriously, just means MS is not going to send out updates and fixes anymore. Use a good antivirus, a good browser (firefox) and good email program (thunderbird) and that is all you need to worry about. I have several XP machines and plan to keep using them like normal. I also use Open Office...

XP is the most widely used OS on the planet and most are actually legal copies...

If you are seriously concerned any machine that would run XP will run Win 7 basic.

So what are 95% of ATMs going to do? Yep they run on XP.

If we are lucky they will dispense more money than we have in our bank accounts.

The difference is that your washer and dryer cannot steal your credit card number.

Given recent events, a computer running Windows XP may be several thousand times more secure that the "up to date" software that merchants are using, and apparently ignoring security alerts from their software.

A lot of the hospitals in my area run XP, even a major medical college.
