It Was the Best of Times & the Worst, But It Was the Best Trip Evah!

Wow, i must have missed an update! Love the Jedi training and the lego store! Star Wars and Legos. Two of me and DS's favorite things.

I'm glad you were OK after the accident. I hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much!

Santa was very good to me, hope he was as good to you! :santa:

Happy Festivus to everyone! :)

Wow! I missed your real life update about the accident!
Thank god you were all okay. Hope the headache didn't return and you were able to enjoy the holidays!

Hi Doris -

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. I was just stopping by to see what I had missed.

I did take some cell phone pictures when I toured the historic houses in Odessa Delaware before Christmas. When I get a chance I'll have to post some for you to see.

This really was a little treasure literally right in my backyard (5 miles away) and I can't believe I haven't toured the houses in well over 10 years. It was lovely and the best part - Picture were allowed! :cool1:

Some of the houses are private residences (including one house owned by my old neighbor - that was fun) and others are owned by Winterthur. It was a lovely day. I thought about you a lot during my tour! :goodvibes

Wow, how awful about the rear ender. I hope everything was fixed easily and you aren'ttoo sore. I was rear ended once and thought nothing of it and the next day I could barely move.

A quick update about our accident, we are being inudated by calls & mail from lawyers & chiropractors.:scared1: It seems that they troll the daily accident reports & start calling. The police report stated that there might be an injury, so the feeding frenzy is on!! A real eye opener for sure.

I thought that I would post a picture Wicket of whom I am mother of! He was wearing his Santa hat & beard.

I will be updating real soon, life has been quite hectic of late.;)

Wicket is too cute!

Sorry to hear about the accident. But I am glad everyone is OK.

There must be something in the air. I was sitting at a light on my way home from work Tuesday night and also got rearended. Nobody got hurt. 19 year old kid, he kept apologizing. He seemed like a good kid. His mom called me not long after I got home and has been very nice too. She's paying for the damage out of pocket. She already called the body shop with a credit card to pay to order the parts so things are going smoothly so far. Hope they do for you too.
Looking forward to you next trip update.

Adorable photo of Santa Wicket! You just wonder what he's thinking though...:rolleyes1

Wicket is probably thinking take this stupid stuff off of me!!:lmao:

We got a check today for the repair of the truck. Things are done differently now. We were told not to get estimates, the adjuster just tells you how much it should be, cuts a check, then you take the vehicle to get fixed. It's up to the body shop to try to get more money from the insurance company.

I will update Sun. or Mon. I'm making a new gown for Twelveth Night this Sat. & I'm working as fast as I can!

OK, I’m back & am trying the cut & paste thing in Word. I hope that this works for me!

I’ve been quite busy since Christmas sewing my gown for my group’s Twelfths Night party. Since I’ve been asked to post pictures of my new gown here goes!

fallwinter2011065.jpg

This gown is called a Chemise ala Reine. It was popularized by Marie Antionette around 1787 & became the fashion until 1800.

fallwinter2011064.jpg

The gown is made entirely of silk & I’m wearing undergarments that are also correct for the dress. I try to have the correct hair & jewelry for the period also.

I hope that all have liked to see something of what I do as a hobby. We have a lot of fun & do a lot of teaching the public about our early history. Pictures of me are in family albums around the world. There are usually foreigners attending our public events & they do like to take our pictures in these funny clothes!

Now to get back to work on my TR! & WOOT WOOT, I learned something new today!:dance3:

We headed over to Epcot from DTD to our dinner at Coral Seas. Since we were early we had some time to get our PP in front of SE.

There was a run in with another visitor to Epcot!

He sure knows how to upset little girls!

Disney2011255.jpg

We decided to ride SE as it was in front of us. While riding up the bill hill Emily wanted to know if it was going to be a large drop ahead! She was so used to all of the coaster type rides so far that she thought doom was ahead!
That ride was a nice surprise for Emily & Kelly.

We were off to TT, another thrill ride for the kids, but it was one that they liked!

It was still a little early for our ADR, but we decided to go to CR anyway. I was hoping that we could get a seat by the aquarium, besides after we arrived, the skies opened in a big way. We were called to our table after 30 minute wait & were led to a booth that faced just across from the tank window.:woohoo:

These were the only pictures that we managed to take at CR.
After the tension taking pictures were the last thing on anyone's mind.

This was our first time at Coral Reef, it was pretty nice in there & our CM was very good. He was extremely helpful, especially later!

Emily ordered the child’s chicken breast & ice cream for dessert, Anne, Bob & I ordered the strip steak. Bob ordered his usual adult beverage, beer. I know that I got some sort of drink, but I’ve forgotten what it was! Kelly wanted pizza & ice cream. Anne told her that she couldn’t get the ice cream with pizza as it didn’t come with it. Anne placed their orders & I heard her order 2 chickens for the girls. I wondered if Kelly had changed her mind, but didn’t say anything about it.

Our dinners came in short order, but when Kelly saw hers, she was upset. She wanted pizza! Anne said, no you wanted ice cream & it was not available with pizza. Kelly started to sob that she wanted pizza! Well, Anne decided to take Kelly out to administer a punishment for her arguing about the chicken. I was getting upset about all of this, after this was Disney! If she wanted ice cream with her pizza, they would give it to her. I kept my mouth shut as I don’t want to alienate the DIL, she is my only access to these girls. Emily sat there & told us Kelly wanted pizza, I heard her say that to Mom. I was getting more upset by the minute.

Well, they came back to the table Kelly slid into her seat, picked up her fork & started to take a bite of that chicken. A silent tear was sliding down her face as she did so, I couldn’t take that (I’m tearing up writing about it) so I burst out with a sob choked voice, she wanted the pizza! Anne paid attention to that I can tell you! I don’t normally show my emotions, but her wanting the pizza & not getting it reminded me of all the terrible times that my mother made us eat things that we didn’t want really got to me at that moment!:furious:

The CM came over & Anne asked if she could have pizza instead of the chicken. He didn’t bat an eye & said of course she could! I mean this is Disney, the happy place, they are going to make a child happy!!! After that everything settled down & we finished dinner. All was well again. I don’t usually like it when kids cause problems at dinner, they should be taken out so as not to disturb others, but she just wanted what she asked for. Anne is not used to restaurants although she has eaten out quite a bit. She is one that thinks menus are set in stone & can’t be changed. Fortuneatly the rest of our vacation with Anne & the girls went well!:grouphug:

After dinner the rain had stopped, so we rode on the Nemo ( actually the former Living Seas), no one was too impressed by that. It has been changed too much, was better before Nemo.

Next up was MS, that was a fun ride, then another trip on TT. We were off to Soarin’ next.
None of the lines were very long, however we did get a FP for Soarin’ & TT.

We were in the queue for Soarin’ when I realized that we could be in the front row center. When the doors opened, woot, woot, we were to sit dead center in the front row!! This was the first time ever for us & we had ridden Soarin’ many times. It is Bob’s favorite ride!

It was starting to get late, but we had EMH at Epcot that night. It was also Anne & the Girls last night at WDW. We decided to do a Kimpossible adventure, but it had no more adventures open for the evening. We did a little shopping at WS & then it was time for Illuminations.

After Illuminations we headed to the exit & stopped for some more PPs.

We were coming back in the morning so the girls could do a Kimpossible adventure before they had to leave for Tulsa. It had been a very busy day & a very tiring one. It all ended happily after a little air clearing!

Wow! What a beautiful dress! Thanks for sharing!

The photopass pics are really cute - love the girls with Stitch! :thumbsup2

And now I am waiting for drama at Coral Reef to unfold! popcorn::

Caught up!

Well done getting poor Kelly her pizza - you are right - this IS Disney and they WILL go out of their way to make their guests happy, especially a little one! :thumbsup2

I am really enjoying your report. How awesome for you and your husband to take your granddaughters to Disney. I bet they will never forget what an awesome time they had with their grandparents. Your daughter-in-law though, makes me sad. Perhaps I should not say this, but does she not remember what it is like to be a child? I am glad you said something about the pizza. And if I am out-of-line with my comment about your daughter-in-law, just let me know and I will delete this posting.

 Kate

No Kate, I'm not offended. My DIL I don't think was ever a child in the normal sense. We love her, but she really is not good with small children. She wants them to behave like they are much older. I just bite my tongue & try to slip in some hints.:rolleyes1

Well done! And your GD will love you more because Gramma got her the pizza she wanted!:love:

There's times when you can just say it's because I'm Gramma and I said so! Sometimes my mom does that with DS, and we just kind of roll our eyes and let her do it, because they have such a special bond.

The whole thing just doesn't make sense. Why didn't she try to find out what was more important, the pizza or the ice cream!

Beth, that is just Anne, sometimes she just doesn't have a clue.:confused3

I know that I could play the Grandma card, but I don't want to interfere with another's parenting. This just was too much for me.:sad2:
