It was all started by a towel...

That is ALMOST exactly what I am looking for. But he wants the lining to be sherpa, not fur.

I went back to the mall on my way home tonight and tried on yet MORE jeans. I found some that fit fine, they are just about 6 inches too long. So I bought them and I will have them hemmed. I have no clue how much that costs. Good thing the jeans were 40% off. :rolleyes1 I will return the "eh" ones.

Great start....and I'm here! Juliana is more beautiful than last year--if that is possible

Are the graphics on this one any better than Old Navy?

You should take up sewing! You'ld love it!!!

That graphic is about on par with the Old Navy ones. Huh. I didn't even know Lord & Taylor still existed. All of ours have been out of business for years!

On the Old Navy jackets each color has a different logo, and the least heinous one was on the red jacket. But I don't imagine he would wear a red jacket, so we're back to square one.

I was Googling places to have my jeans shortened. Apparently there is a place that will hem them in one hour for $5. But that place apparently sometimes makes one leg shorter than the other, then they YELL at the customer (according to the online reviews). I think I will ask my boss where she has her stuff hemmed.

Thienluma - Hello! :)
I don't know anyone called Juliana, but you are more than welcome to tag along here!

I've been following your jean saga with empathy. I also hate jean shopping. Have you tried Chico's? My sister loves their jeans, but my current favorite is Coldwater Creek. Or Tory Burch outlet...

I have a couple of places I take things in Dallas. Anna's is good but takes a week and is a little pricier. Some of the Comet cleaners do alterations and for just hemming has done a good job for me.

I have not tried Chico's or Coldwater Creek. I should make a run to NorthPark this weekend. I have 2 pairs coming from Lands End, and the 2 Lauren ones that need to be hemmed. I guess I will start with hemming one pair of the Lauren so I can make sure I want 2 pairs that are the same.

Where is Anna's? I guess I should Google!

I found a sherpa lined hoodie for DS at Marshall's. It is a Hurley, which he likes. Hopefully it will fit. I bought a medium because the large looked big enough for me. It says "Hurley" across the front in big old letters, but Hurley is an acceptable brand so I think he will like it. There was one QuikSilver jacket that he probably would have liked better, but it looked used. It had no tags, looked a little "worn". :scared: There were several of the Hurley jackets, but just the one QuikSilver. I guess if the one I bought is too small I will go by the other Marshall's and see if they might have a QuikSilver that looks less questionable.

OK, the Hurley hoodie is going to work great. I washed it last night so it is all ready to go.

Back to the mall today to return a couple of things and look for long sleeved shirts for DS. The Gap is going to drive me to drink. Heavily. :headache: They remodeled the store. It now has aisles akin to those in an airplane. I had to stand there and wait for people to MOVE so I could get to the register to do my return. I WOULD HAVE exchanged the jeans for shirts, but NO. NO shirts in the size I need. The BRILLIANT placement of the register smack in the middle of the store, with tables piled with CRAP blocking the center means that people standing in line have nowhere to go but into the NARROW flippin' aisles. Now NOBODY can move! I ended up moving over to the "adult" Gap to process the return because the Gap Kids was gridlocked. Idiots. Who told them the store should have a layout like this? I swear I am not going to shop there anymore.

My next problem was that NOBODY has any normal long sleeved T's for boys. They are ALL, and I do mean ALLLLL, those "layered look" things. I hate those. I have no clue what DS is going to wear if it is cold at WDW. Jeans and a sherpa lined hoodie, with a short sleeved shirt, apparently!

I tried on a pair of jeans at Chico's. They very nearly fit. I need to go to another store and see if they have a better variety of sizes. I think if I try on several I might find some that will fit without needing to be hemmed. Maybe. :rolleyes1

Glad the hoodie will work!

How about this for T's? I like that I can order online and make the return to a Sears.

That Gap store sounds INSANE!!!:headache: There is a newish shopping mall somewhat close to my house that has a baby Gap and an adult Gap but no kid's Gap.

The Gap should have had long sleeve T's. http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=&vid=&pid=686608&scid=686608002 Maybe you should go back there.

:wizard:Hope you can find more Chicos!

Bernadette, Gap DOES have long sleeve T's, but NOT in size 12 in the colors I wanted. There are 2 other Gap Kids stores I can go to. It is just the one DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET that they ruined.
I sent a nasty e-mail to Gap to tell them the new store design SUCKS. I also told them I will never shop in that location again. Ever. They have already responded. They thank me for my concern, and they are forwarding my comments. I am sure their team in charge of store layout and structural design will be devastated.

I stopped at another Chico's on the way home. Although it was a tremendous inconvenience to the employees in there, I did manage to try on 3 more pairs of jeans. I bought one, but I am still deciding. Once the Lands End jeans arrive I will really have to make some decisions. And time is of the essence on the Lauren ones since they will have to be hemmed if I keep them. The Chico's ones are "short" even though they seem plenty long. The "regular" inseam didn't seem horribly long, so I am conflicted there, too. This should NOT be this difficult! And if I need them for WDW we are running out of time!

So tonight we went to dinner at TGI Friday's in the mall. (I am a big mall kind of girl.) We parked at Macy's, and we walked through the kids' department. There was this big rack of stuff, extra 50% off the lowest price. We bought 6 T-shirts for DS (Hurley and Quiksilver) for next summer. I had a 20% off coupon so my total for all six shirts was less than $24!! :yay: Now he will be all set for our WDW trip in June (or not June, depending on the vacation bid results).

After dinner I got ice cream from Cold Stone, so we were putzing through Macy's while I was eating it. We found Dockers on clearance for $9.99 a pair! DH found 4 pairs that we HOPE will fit. He didn't feel like trying them on so we brought them home. Oh, and my 20% off coupon worked on those, too, so they were $7.99 each! Now he will look nice while he works to make money to pay for WDW. ;)

We are hearing that vacation bids will be Dec. 3. THAT is our departure day. But last year DH's bid time was 1 PM, and he has moved up in seniority a teeny bit so we are pretty confident that he will bid before he comes home that day. Of course he can only bid for his first 2 weeks that day. He will have to call the next day to get his third week, which will be a pain in the tushy.

I tried the jeans on for DH this morning and he made that face. Returning the jeans.

3 of the 4 pairs of Dockers we bought don't fit. Now we know why they were on clearance.

I also have to return a shower curtain to Target, which has nothing to do with the WDW trip but it is one more errand I have to do.

I want to see if we can find some new shoes for DS. His sneakers aren't that old, but they are looking a bit worn. Perhaps because those are the ONLY shoes he EVER wears.

Tedious.

Ah, the great clothes drama before the trip, I know it well. Luckily, I don't see any need to buy anything else new at this point. For now, the battle is clean laundry and waiting for the weather forecast to come to some sort of conclusion that allows for us to get packed.

We still need to work out a plan for meeting up with you guys at MVMCP. If you want to read my pre-trip report just click on the Penguin/Maggie graphic in my sig.

Why do I torture myself with the long range weather forecasts? Weather.com's 10 day forecast has my arrival day at high 76 low 59. accuweather's 15 day forecast has the same day at high 65 low 44. There is a HUGE difference in 44 and 59. The days accuweather has vary from highs 65 to 81 and lows 43 to 61. I hope those lows warm up a bit.

Maggie, we do need a plan. I suspect we will take a break midday before the party, but we will probably be back prior to 4 PM when people with party tickets can get in without a park pass. I don't want to deal with crowds to get in. So maybe we'll take our break from 1 PM - 3 PM or something. At any rate, we will definitely figure out a time/place to see you and Gabby! :)

Bernadette, I will die if it is in the 40's. That's all there is to it.

So I exchanged the Chico's jeans, but I can't decide if I will keep the ones I exchanged for. And I bought a bunch of Lands End jeans at Sears. Hate Sears, like Lands End. Some of them sort of fit, and some of them are way too long. Which is silly, because they all say they are the same size. I love quality control.

The Ralph Lauren jeans don't fit that great since they have been washed, but I can't return them now! So I will have them hemmed and deal with it. I only washed one pair so I will return the other pair. For those of you keeping score, I have now spent close to $350 on jeans and I have NONE that actually fit. :headache: Luckily I haven't washed very many of them, so I will return the ones that still have tags. The question is if I should just GIVE UP or keep looking. :sad2:

We did find 2 long sleeve Gap T's (at a DIFFERENT Gap Kids) and a pair of shoes for DS, so he is all set. Jeans, shirts, jacket, shoes, etc. - he is DONE!

I made my tip envelopes, I just have to put money in them.

I pulled my Magic Kingdom jacket out and lint rolled all the cat fur off of it. It was hanging on the bottom bar in the closet, next to the suitcase. The cat discovered that by laying on the floor and then climbing on the suitcase that she could cover almost the whole jacket with her micro-fine, LONG gray fur. DH shouldn't let her in the closet, but he does. I guess I should clean out the coat closet and hang the jacket in there.

I have decided to return the Chico's jeans. I like them, but they were expensive AND the women working in there were rude. The rudeness was the tipping point. That, combined with the fact that I am afraid they will be too short if I dry them in the dryer. This inseam thing is maddening! :headache:

I called Lands End and ordered 4 more pairs of jeans. That makes a total of 6 pairs in transit. HOPEFULLY some of them will FIT!!

It is definitely a problem to pack 8 outfits in a carry-on. I don't need 8 outfits for a 4 night trip, but I don't know how cold it will be. I might need a fleece pullover, or a denim jacket, or a big old coat. :rolleyes1 I might need a hat and gloves and a scarf (which I haven't packed yet - crap). This is getting much too complicated.

I don't know which jeans to pack, or if I even really NEED jeans. I probably do. I should pack the old ones. You know, the ones that FIT?

It is a good thing I am only working tomorrow, then I am off the rest of the week. I will be tweaking my packing. It is important to note that I AM packed, in accordance with the Packing Mandate. I will just have to tweak what I packed!

Bernadette, I will die if it is in the 40's. That's all there is to it.
Accuweather is now showing my arrival day at high 75/low 56 but of the 7 days that they are showing for my trip 5 of them have lows in the 40s.

I am breaking the rules!

I want to get a better feel for the weather. I figure I will pack lot of long sleeve T's I can put under short sleeve T's for both Lizzy & I. I will pack a short sleeve T for all 8 days and a few extra for dinners. Can't decide how many shorts we need.

I know how many shorts we need - NONE!

The signature dinners are a problem, too, as far as dress code. In the summer I always make DH and DS wear a collared shirt to dinner, but if it is cold DS won't have an appropriate shirt to wear. So for this trip I fear we will not be dressed properly. I bet there will be people in the restaurants dressed far LESS appropriately than we will be, so I will try not to worry about it! :)

Well the dress code is pretty loose-just says no torn clothes, no swim suits...it specifically says jeans are OK but I would feel better looking a tiny bit nicer.

I can't decide what jacket to bring. I went to go try one at Land's End. I noticed they had mostly smalls & mediums and I think that must be because it ran very small!!!! I found another, lighter one that I liked but it was full price at $69.50 and really not warm at all so my rain jacket would be a better option. I think I'll just do layers-camisole, long sleeve T, short sleeve T, sweater, fleece jacket, rain coat. That should work-not sure I'll be able to move but I should be warm enough....

I have a jacket that will work, I just don't have room to PACK the stupid thing!

I returned the jeans to Chico's yesterday, and I have to say, those women are EASILY some of the rudest sales associates I have EVER encountered! I think I am done with that store!

I have 4 pairs of jeans I am deciding about, and another 6 pairs in transit. BUT I think all 6 in transit are going to be too short. WEll, no, not all of them. Because the 2 pairs that I ordered first weren't shipped to me - they sent them to somebody else and sent me some shirts that would be way too big. SO now they have to REsend my jeans. SO I switched out one pair for a longer inseam. Those will be too long.

Have I mentioned the shoe dilemma?
All these boot cut jeans won't work with my Crocs. I always wear Crocs at WDW. Yesterday I wore some other shoes, but they need to be polished - they are very scuffed. So I will take those in today, but I probably won't wear them at WDW. Maybe, but probably not.

At Marshall's on Saturday I found these cute Born shoes. Couldn't stand it. Went back last night to buy them, only the Marshall's near me had like 8 or 10 cute pairs of shoes! :headache: I bought 2 pairs and I will wait for the others to go on sale.

So I will bring my old jeans and my Crocs to WDW and wear my new jeans and my new shoes at home! :) (Well, if I can find any jeans that fit...)

Single digits!! NINE days until departure!! :dance3:
