It was all started by a towel...

We're back for a break. Not that we need a break since all we did was shop and eat, but whatever.

We went in the "Characters in Flight" balloon. Very cool! We had lunch at Puck's and ice cream at Ghirardelli, bought some stuff at World Of Disney, that's about it.

I was blown away that it was 3 PM when we left DTD! Time flies when you don't leave the room until 10 AM!

I cancelled the photo session. We were going to be too crunched for time, and my eye still looks weird. We have had photos done in the lobby several different times so we'll just go with those.

We went to EMH at AK tonight. It wasn't too crowded, but they don't have many things open. We rode Everest twice, and Triceratops Spin once. We didn't get there until 6:30, and by 8 PM we were ready to leave. I won't ride Dinosaur, and DH and DS weren't really dressed to be drenched on Kali, so we were finished.

We decided on a whim to see if we could get in for dinner at Yak & Yeti. I had an ADR for another day that we cancelled, so we figured it was worth a try. We were in luck! We had a table in about 7 minutes. :)

The bus queues were INSANE! All the lines were running together - nobody could tell where one line ended and the other started. having said that, we did manage to get on the first AKL bus that showed up.

Sounds like another good day, Elizabeth! :)

how was the quality of food there... when i ate there last august it wasnt all that great but having said that I could have ate the fried green beans for a whole meal they were outstanding

when we go in december im only really planning on being there for 3-4 hours and thats if there are crowds that place is probably my least favorite park only because there just isnt that much to do if you arent into animals
we will basically just hit everest, possibly the safari but ive done that tons of times and primeval whirl, itll be to cold for kali and i could take or leave everything else

The food at Yak & Yeti is fine. Not gourmet, but not bad. We ate there last year, so we have been there twice and we would go back. Better than counter service. ;)

AK is difficult. It is bad in the heat, it is bad in the rain, it is bad if there are huge crowds. We like the animals, but at night the trails and the safari are closed. There are still 2 EMH mornigns we could hit before the end of our trip. Not sure if we will attempt either one.

DS had a pizza and smiley fries. Those pics are on a different camera. I forgot my camera when we went to DTD so things are a little disorganized now. Never mind. Here they are.

Love the shots from the balloon ride! So would you do it again? I am not sure I could handle the height & looking down :scared1: The boys sure would enjoy it though!

Is Characters in flight worth it? How long are you up there?

Love the update, Elizabeth. for the balloon! I am not a fan of heights so I am not certain this one is for me. The photos from your ride were wonderful, though.

Great Pics! I was thinking about the balloon ride. Not sure if I would chicken out.

Disney needs to pay you a commission...your pictures of the balloon ride just sold me :thumbsup2. Do you need to make advance reservations or is it just a walk up?

That balloon ride would do me in. Kudos to you for being able to handle it! :worship:

I would do it again, at night. Not twice in the same trip, though.
It was $16 per person ($10 for kids ages 3-9). You are up in the air for 10 minutes. None of us have issues with heights, so we thought it was really fun. The ride is very gentle, and the pilot warns you when there will be a little bump going up and coming down.

I mostly looked out across, not straight down. ;)

I don't think they take reservations. We just walked up. The balloon was up when we bought our tickets, and we got on as soon as it came down. They took about 20 people up in our group.

Crowds at MK were definitely bigger today. We got there right at 8 AM. Tomorrowland didn't open until 9 AM, which was a surprise.

We rode Peter Pan, Pooh, Tea Cups, and DH and DS rode Splash. They didn't get wet because I wasn't on the ride. If I would have agreed to ride we would have been soaked to the bone. :rolleyes1 After that the park was open.

We rode Pirates, Buzz, the Speedway (I really do not like that ride), Small World, checked out Hall Of Presidents, and then had lunch at Cosmic Ray's. By then it was about 12:30 and we decided to come back for a nap.

Tonight is dinner at Kona. I think we may go back to MK for Wishes, but I am not 100% sure on that. I suppose we'll see what time it is when we finish dinner and decide from there.

Last couple of meals we had at Kona were not very good...I will be curious to hear your review.

Hmm. We have never had a bad meal there, but we haven't been since last August. Of course people talk about how bad Coral Reef is, and we have never had a bad meal there, either. I guess we'll see!

Right now we need to get sorted out before the turn down service lady comes by.
