It was all started by a towel...

Next Friday is December ADR day!!

I will be irked if we can't get our ADRs. On the other hand, since I switched our ressie back to room only instead of "free" dining I guess if we eat 4 days' worth of burgers and chicken nuggets I haven't lost anything, now have I?

So it looks like we will try to go to AK for a bit the morning of 12/7. I am going to try to book an early breakfast at Tusker House, then we'll have 2-ish hours to do park stuff before we head back to catch Magical Express around noon. In the past we have always been able to get late check-out, so hopefully we won't have to mess with Bell Services for the bags. We will just have to grab them from the room and hop on the bus back to MCO.

I know we have done short trips before ONLY using carry-ons. We'll see if I can remember how to make that work. I am sure it will work. As long as we don't have to go out of the international terminal where that shrew of a woman made me put my bag in the measuring thing. My carry-on is FINE. It fits in the overhead bin JUST FINE, even WITH the stupid quart bag of liquids in the front pocket.

I have also been pondering our June trip. Which at this point is only a theoretical trip. Have to wait for DH to get his 2010 vacation approval. I HATE waiting for that. I could be accomplishing things if we had those dates nailed down! OK, not really. I could buy airline tickets. That's about it. But if I knew those were definitely our dates I would find something to accomplish. :rolleyes1

OK, so I WON'T book a Tusker House breakfast on 12/7. It is AM EMH!! YAY! An extra hour of park time! I can do CS breakfast in exchange for another hour of park time on departure day! :yay:

I am kind of fond of this thread. I think perhaps I will just add my December trip on to the end. Unless the mods lock my thread. That would be unfortunate. :guilty:

Sooo...to recap what has already been covered:

We are going to WDW in December!!
Dec. 3-7. Quick trip. Epcot Friday, MGM Saturday, MK & MVMCP Sunday, AK for a couple hours Monday before we go home. No checked bags. Which will be a huge challenge. But I will manage.

Turns out a lot of our friends will also be there! MrsHeg & her DH, lovesdumbo & her DD, 4 of their friends, PNO4TE, steffy, and tinker1bell. We are all going to lunch together on Saturday at Mama Melrose.

Booked my ADRs online this morning. I was astounded that it actually WORKED. :thumbsup2 Managed to get all 3 ADRs I was hoping for, including Crystal Palace before the party. That was the only one I was concerned about. I would have liked to have done a special breakfast, but we really just don't have time. Have to save that for 2010.

Tuesday night I was eating pasta and the crown in the back of my mouth popped off. I was mildly surprised. I shouldn't have been surprised AT ALL, because I knew something was wrong. Crown cement has a very distinctive flavor. I had been getting tastes of crown cement for several weeks, but I was trying to pretend it was OK. I guess what surprised me the most was that the crown that popped off is only 2 years old.

So I called the dentist. Of course they were closed. They called the next day, but by then it was too late to go in. So I went yesterday. He glued it back in and sent me on my way. I think he glued it in the wrong way. :scared1: I STRONGLY suspect he spun it around so the cheek side is now on the tongue side, and that is why it is sticking up so high. But I am a huge weenie about dental procedures so I am going to try to leave it like this. This may prove to be a monumentally stupid decision. We shall see.

ANYWAY...
I was finished early enough that I had time to go to the mall before preschool carpool! Not the good mall, the dead mall. But I like Lands End stuff, so I went to Sears. Since it's a dead mall they usually have a huge selection. I found some CUTE capri pants on clearance for $15! I debated about the matching cardigan. The pants are chocolate, the cardigan was chocolate and cream. Which would have required a cream T-shirt underneath. I don't look good in cream. So I just bought the pants.

When we went to WDW in Dec. '06 it was colder than a witch's...never mind.
It was COLD. I wore a coat, hat, gloves. I am always cold, but it was exceptionally cold that trip.

When we went in Dec. '07 it was hot. T-shirt and capris hot. At the very last minute I put some cooler clothes in the suitcase. If I wouldn't have done that I would have melted.

Hopefully we will have at least one day warm enough to wear my cute new capris! ;)

I have debated taking on my December trips to the PTR I am doing for October. But I think I will just start a new one... or two! :rotfl:

Gabby and I can't wait to meet you at MVMCP! After what, 6 years of friendship online, it will be so nice to be able to actually talk with you. 12/06/09 can't get here soon enough.

:goodvibes Maggie

I thought about starting a new one. But since my December trip will be such a little short thing it almost isn't worthy of a separate report. I'll start a new one for our next BIG trip! ;)

Has it been SIX years? No, it hasn't been that long. I think 4 years. Which is WAAYYYY too long to have trips that never overlapped! :rotfl2: So looking forward to meeting you both and giving you a big hug for sending all those post cards to DS!! :goodvibes

I have been trying to think of a title for a single December PTR. Then I would only have to keep up with one! Haven't had any luck with that so far, though. :confused3

No checked bags. Which will be a huge challenge.

That should be a huge challange! How many layers do you think you could wear on the plane.

I hate packing for winter trips to Disney. I've been 3 times with daytime temps in the 80's and 3 times with nighttime temps in the 30s and I've seen both of those on more than 1 trip! You have to pack a little bit of everything.

I'm already planning to take my big suitecase but we're going for 6 or 7 nights.

Good. Fine. Ruuuub it in. :rolleyes1

My trip is not only short, it is lacking in luggage. :sad2: But since I am always cold I can get by without shorts for December. Just need capris and jeans.

If I HAD to check one bag I could. Of course the stupid fees just went up again, so to take it there and back would probably add $50. Really, I have done this twice before. I KNOW I can do it. If push comes to shove (and I do mean SHOVE) I will leave my laptop at home. Then I can stuff the Crocs backpack full of clothing. Which would suck. Maybe I won't do that.

Oh. Paying for internet access will also suck. Forgot about THAT little issue. Crap. Should have booked on points instead of cash. Except we are OUT of points.

Elin, I will ponder a catchy title for you! ;)

:guilty:Sorry!!!! Didn't mean to rub it in!

Since you're going in Dec will you need 2 outfits per day? I still think you can do it in carryon.:thumbsup2

Maybe you need a new bag?

How about "the trip report that won't end.....":rotfl:

No, for December I won't need 2 outfits per day. Even when we do long trips I can do the first 4 days or so in the carry-on. That's what I did in August. I didn't touch the big bag until we moved to the concierge room on Day 5. I may have taken stuff out of the Shoe Bag. Shoes, more than likely.

I do not need more electronics. I am not a big electronic kind of girl, so I am FINE with my laptop. Don't need a new one unless this one dies. Seeing how I suspect my desk top may be on it's last leg, I will not be buying an unnecessary laptop.

I haven't heard that expression in years. My father used to say it all the time. His other was cold enough to freeze the never mind ;) off a brass monkey. Dad is still alive, by the way, I just haven't heard him say that in years.

I like the monkey one! :rotfl2:
The witch one has been a favorite for awhile. One of my friends says it. I can't remember exactly how it happened, but I ran across the origin of the saying when I was looking for something else and I e-mailed it to her. :rotfl: Now it is going to bother me that I can't remember what I was looking for that resulted in that.

Hmm. So what am I looking forward to in December?

Definitely excited to see all of our friends!

Excited to have some wonderful meals!

Excited to surprise DS with a savanna view bunk-bed room. He asked if we were having bunk-beds. Well, we are, because that was the only category I could get with the AP discount. But when he asked I looked at him weird and said "I have no idea. I guess we'll see when we get there!" The finer points of booking categories and villa vs. lodge is kind of lost on him, so he will be pleased. ;)

Excited to see the story tellers in Epcot. I love the Monkey King!

Well, it was either the 2003 or the 2005 trip when we met through the AAA parking pass swap. I thought it was the 2003 trip, but if not then it was definitely the 2005 trip, which would work out to 4 years. Whatever the case may be, it's going to be really nice to finally meet you and get a real . I can't wait! :woohoo:
