wow i did not realize how long it has been since i posted...............the story is, we annually rent a log cabin at an amusement park campground called Knoebels Grove. 10 of us were setting around the campfire one nite and there was revolution. the end result is our campground days are over and have been replaced with a week at Ocean City, MD. in a beachfront house each July. this is not cheap so we decided WDW in January to split it up. now i am on the January discount/free dining watch which i expect as soon as the current booking window closes for the current free dining...........sooooo........if any of you are january regulars let me know what to expect cause this will be a first for us. i also took this opportunity to update my avatar with a picture from May of this year. it was taken in the Garden Grill which by the way has absolutely the worst menu in all of WDW. i am also happy to report that i have lost 16 pounds since that picture and when i reach my goal which is 45 more pounds i will happily replace this avatar.

We have been in Jan a few times and absolutely love it. It can be down right cold sometimes or really sunny and warm. This makes packing a little more interesting. Parks are not busy and if you go early enough in Jan you can still see Christmas decorations and Osbourne lights.

We've had a similar experience. We have had trips where we had to buy mittens unexpectedly, and ones where we could wear short sleeves with no jacket.

Christmas decorations will be there one day and completely gone the next! Always fun to catch a glimpse of them though.

While I prefer late January to help break up our long MN winter, we have gone twice now in early-mid January. Either way, crowds were very manageable - not as low as they were in January of years gone by, but less crowded than most other times of the year. And while I'd rather be warm than cold, my DD overheats very easily, so this is a good time of year for us.

We are January people as well, although I'm doing a fall trip this year as well. January is an awesome time to be in the parks.

As a teacher I wish I could spend more time there in January, but we for sure love going around Marathon Weekend. It's later this year, so I'm thinking the decorations may be down by then.
