It really is my birthday; no guilt; lots of treats My Birthday, typing as you read!

This is our first full day on the deluxe plan, and I am starting to get into the "dining scene". DH and I were actually hungry at our 1pm lunch time, problem was we were on Kilimanjaro Safaris, with a side trip to tackle the Yeti. I know, I know you make ADRs and keeping them is a good idea. We were ready to be turned away if needed, but to be honest, every time we have gone to Yak and Yeti they have sat us with no problem.

So we walked in and I was greeted with....."Finally the Birthday girl is here!". It was one of my highlights of the trip. Very sweet, and the manager brought us to our table, upstairs with a nice view. It was my first time upstairs and I really liked it. Here's our view:

The second picture shows my "artistic eye"...

For the report, and just because I am a "creature of habit", DH had a coke, I had an un-sweet tea!!

So I told you I wasn't totally evil, DH got to get potstickers for his appetizer and I offered to order also to double them, but we both wanted to try the wok-fried green beans. Wok-fried, but green beans, we were doing good, right?:rotfl2:

They were both excellent. The green beans are really hard to explain. I can NOT eat greasy foods. These are the farthest from greasy, they are just perfect. The sauce was a bit spicy, but not really. I would definitely have them again. Our waiter called the pot-stickers, 3 minute wonders, because they never last longer than 3 minutes on the plate. He offered us another order for my b-day but we declined.

For appetizers, I had the sweet and sour chicken, (yes I always get it, but it is made with fresh bell peppers and pineapple, too hard to give up) and DH had the Chicken Lo-Mein.

DH's Lo Mein is on my plate, we shared, you can see his across the table, sorry, not my best attempt at a picture.

We once again enjoyed our meals. We have now been there 4 times, and have been impressed each and every time. Our new items were the Lo Mein, Green Beans, and both desserts. So we did go out a bit from the comfort zone and were still very happy!

Okay, off to desserts! I had the Fried Wontons and DH had the New York Cheesecake with a coffee. This is also where, employees started to stop and wish me a Happy Birthday. Anyone who walked by wished me well, so I didn't remember to take pictures. Sorry.:sad1:

The WonTon were a perfect ending, not to sweet, just perfect and I would love to find them around town. DH said it was NY Style Cheesecake and he is a cheesecake snob.

Overall, Yak and Yet gets a 10. Nothing out of place, friendly, fresh food, clean, and quiet!! I am really glad to have a favorite at Animal Kingdom for a T.S., it helps to extend your day to more than 1/2 of a day park.

And before I go, and full disclosure that DH will take a while to forgive me...hehe - I have a video of him being the warthog trainer at FOTHLK. Once the kids explain how to load it, I promise I will be back to add it!!:woohoo:

Ah, my husband got the warthog role also. :)

We haven't tried Yak and Yeti, but from your review, I think I will add it to our next trip.

How did you get injured?

Thanks for the reminder, I need to get that video uploaded...

I really hope it's okay to put this here, but hey nothing has gone right since it happened, maybe this will give me a bit of control being able to talk about it.

At Fantasmic we purchased the special dinner and all because I have a neck condition and a few health problems. We we hoping to sit in the normal area with the dinner special, but they either opened the area up early or oversold the tickets. DH and I did get a seat at the back in the handicap area. 5 minutes before the show it was announced that it was standing room only. I could hear he cm stating, no you can't sit there, then I heard a commotion.

From behind another person (who did not have handicap authorization) and their group started to push through behind us. One must of lost their balance, fell into me and elbowed me hard in the shoulder area under the bone, then their fist came up and punched me in the neck and the skull area. Let's say they didn't move still and I didn't tell DH until after the show because I was afraid he might do/say something. My neck movement was extremely reduced and I was swollen - black/blue.

This caused a chain reaction and by the time we got back to the resort I was in a full blown panic attack and shaking etc. Not my finest moment. The paramedics were not helpful (we won't get into that here) and so I called my physician (who loves Disney by the way and returned my call in like 2 minutes). He adjusted meds, put me on bed rest for a bit of the time, and them just walking time for the rest of the vacation!:sad1::sad2:. I'll be the first to say Disney does not handle situations like this to "my" satisfaction, and I am still working on it. And I have to go back to physical therapy again:rolleyes:. Enough said, food is more important, and my DH said he will bring me back, he feels horrible, Disney in pain is not fun.

Good News... I had the free dining code, so DH is letting me book a week for DS's sweet16. Now we just have to fill in the dates, and pick the plan!:)

Since the August trip is for DS, he had some requests, and then Mom threw in some extra's....

So my next review will be

Planet Hollywood (D)
LeCellier (L)
Boma (B)
Yak/Yeti (L)
Kona (B)
Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package (D)
Whispering Canyon (D)
Wishes Dessert Party

I am really excited though that we will be also getting CS reports also. I will be back tomorrow to finish my reports, or later tonight if insomnia hits again.

Oh my, this sounds terrible. I am so sorry this happened to you. However, I'm going to take a lesson from you and if anything ever happens to one of us on a trip, I am going to make a fuss immediately. I am always hearing how a CM appears out of nowhere when someone falls or has some other mishap, but if they don't know about it, then they can't do anything. So, note to self, draw attention.

I'm glad you are planning another trip. I see another Fantasmic package in there, so I guess you are game for doing it again.

Okay, I am back to normal and I am going to start back up with my reviews tomorrow. I have the photo's uploaded (some are missing though?? - not sure what happened there, but we will improvise). I have also added the afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian to my next trip, so I will have a review for that with the next one! I'm really excited about that. So I hope I haven't lost everyone with the long delay, but look for an update of two, maybe three tomorrow.:cheer2:

I want them to feel they are in another world." ~ Walt Disney

I have a special place in my heart for LeCellier. The first time we went it was just with DH and the kids. It was the first real "adult" meal that the kids enjoyed. We laughed, smiled, and made everything fun. No matter the circumstance, I promise to keep this restaurant this way. So..................... when our table was approximately 4" from the couple next to us, we did what every normal Disney person does, asked them if they wanted to join us for dinner... They had already ordered their drinks and such, but hey they were open to it!:thumbsup2. We moved our tables together, introduced ourselves and found out we had quite a few similarities. They were the nicest people and lunch was so much fun. Not the intimate lunch we expected, but seriously how intimate can you get when the table next to you is 4inches away.

Lunch as always was wonderful. DH ordered a coke, but here you go, the big TADA, a surprise of all surprises, I ordered A Red Maple with a side water with lemon. Usually the kids order them, and I like them, but they are sweet, but good.

I knew either DH or I would have to order the soup for dipping, and since DH told me he was ordering the Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage, my choice was negated. That's okay, the man never asks for anything. Here's our appetizers: (you can see my red maple also)

Both were excellent and I really liked the spicy along with the corn polenta. Great combo.

For our entree's, we will always get the same, The Mushroom Filet with the mashed potatoes.

TOO DIE FOR AS ALWAYS. I know some say eh, not the best, grade B, better at a TGIF's. Well not for us, and not for our new friends who tried it for the first time, 4 thumbs up!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Dessert: Maple Creme Brulee and Whiskey Chocolate Cake with coffee

Okay, so I will let the cat out of the bag, yes it's small inside. Tables are way too close, but take our word for it, new Disney friends trump close tables any day!

Sounds like you had a nice Lunch. We will be doing lunch there in August for the first time. Maybe we will make some new friends too! ;)

Sounds like you had a great time at Le Cellier and yay on meeting new friends :thumbsup2

Great review! Really looking forward to our lunch at Le Cellier in August!! :yay:

Making new friends is always a great thing, especially those who understand your love for Disney

DFreak, we also have a lunch reservation in August for LeCellier, but this time for a table of 6, so I don't think we will have to bring our tables next to others, or at least I hope not!;)

thanks so much for your great review....My favorite food too..and we have not had to complain or compare it to a B restaurant either.

One time I ordered my meat RARE and it came to the table and the lady next to us said .......(yah close friends already) Did you order the salmon......I said no but rare....so I got the CM and she brought it back and gave it a little sear here and there.....but still so darn good.

Thanks again for your review and photos...

It's really nice that people are reading. I enjoy re-living my trip. I am going to try and get another report out soon. Thank you to all the kind people reading and responding!

Now close your eyes, and cross your heart, and presto! -Dinner, à la carte. ~ The Aristocats (no quotes because the original says breakfast, not dinner.

Dinner at Chef De France.

This pick was mine and all mine. DH wanted nothing to do with it. He has really come a long way since we were married. He never even had a taco prior to our marriage, and well lets just say, in Tux and Gown, we went for Taco's after our reception!:lmao:

I really, really, really wanted to love this restaurant. I went in confident, even was ready to order for DH. Bottom line, (and I will go through the whole meal) was that we both enjoyed our dessert. Lesson learned, sometimes, it's okay to listen to DH!;)

I was very tired this day. I suffer from some very icky health problems and we spent a good time with me sleeping on the boat around the World Showcase. I always go in with great intentions, but I have to split this day into two. One for future world, one for World Showcase.

So we went to the restaurant a bit late (I was napping:lmao:) but they still took us.

When we were seated, I kind of knew we were doomed. Our waitress did not speak English even enough to answer simple questions. We were reduced to hand symbols and pointing to the menu.

DH went with the cheese platter for his appetizer and I went with the Tomate et fromage de chevre (tomato and goat cheese flatbread). Even after pointing, the waitress kept saying "try Escargole", we would say no, and it went back and forth. DH was hoping for me hard cheeses, but the platter was more soft cheeses. He could eat them, but definitely not his favorite. The flatbread was good, but the one at Mama Melrose is much better. Who would have thought?:confused3

For our dinners I had DH point to the Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates (short ribs with mushroom and pasta) something he would really like except the wine was way overpowering and he doesn't do "wine". So it was a bust. He ate it, smiled, and tried to make me feel better.

b1a0faba.jpg

I ordered the Demi poulet fermier roti, pommes rissolees et tomate grillee (half of a roasted chicken with potatoes, except the potatoes had so much salt that DH refused to even let me go near them for fear of a heart-attack. The chicken was bland, but moist.

3f613840.jpg

SO at this point we really haven't eaten more than a very small meal, but the waitress couldn't figure out how to ask us what to do to make things better.

So we went off to dessert. DH ordered the Profiteroles au chocolat and I ordered the Creme Brulee. Both were excellent and DH said if ever we were forced to eat here again, he would just do all courses of desserts. The waitress tried to get a few other waitstaff over to sing for me for my birthday, which was a very nice gesture, but they were busy, so they were singing and leaving at the same time. I understand, but hey, it made me feel, not worth the minute for the song.:guilty:

Here's the highlight of our meals:

While I really don't want to say it, we will not be back for a while. I never shut doors, because you never know, but I will give the other restaurants, and even the ones I would have never thought I would have tried before we will return.

And my apologies. I don't want to sound so negative, but we really didn't ever find our positive here.

I have 4 posts left from our deluxe dining and all on my birthday. Well technically the Wishes Party is not on the dining plan, but the hotel manager paid, so I am considering it a DDP meal.

I hope to get them done during the wee hours tonight or tomorrow!!

I'm sorry about your experience with Les Chefs. :( Looking forward to those birthday reviews though!!! :thumbsup2

I've seen quite a few posts lately about Les Chefs having bland food. It's not on my list of places to revisit this year. I did it a few years ago and while it was okay, there are too many better places in the World to enjoy!

Am really sad you did not enjoy Les Chefs de France apart from the desserts, which look amazing!! :thumbsup2

We are looking to book a dinner ADR at this place and am a bit doubtful now...will prob still give it a shot and hope for the best.

Look forward to hearing all about your BIRTHDAY posts!! :goodvibes
