It is kind of like a Disney "In Search of..." for childhood favorites

Okay, so... I have a question for all of you vets... I have been to Disney 3 times in the past 5 years... and will be going again in March! What I was wondering is if any of you would be willing to share any tips you had for those of us who love "less marketed" characters. My favorite Disney film growing up (which even at 27 is still a process as my DW can tell you) was the Great Mouse Detective, and while I now love Stitch (its the Ohana message... and besides, its normal for a 27 year old guy to have a strange obsession with a blue alien, right?) and for years I have struggled to find anything to do with Basil and Rattigan. My wife loves Alice, who has seen a resurgence in popularity of late, so we can even go to the local Disney store and find stuff now, but in all my years of looking at Disney stores and even on park, I have only found a few official Disney items for the Great Mouse Detective... being the DVD itself, the House of Villians DVD where Rattigan cameos, a Rattigan beanie toy, and a very awesome Disney villians post card in DTD.

So, my questions is this... since I was an adult when I went the first time, was there ever a time when they had meet and greets with these characters when the move came out in the 80's? Also, is there any where the wife and I should look for these more obscure characters? I know there must be pins lurking somewhere, but also any other interesting ideas?

I hope this is not out of order to ask on this board, but I was just wondering as there are other "obscure" Disney films I enjoy like the Black Cauldron, etc which I would also take any advice on. I do appreciate any response, even if its just a story that reminds me I'm not the only one looking for obscure characters.

Take care,
J.

I can't say I ever remember them having meet and greets when the movies came out. However, I could be wrong about that. It may have to do with how much of an interest Disney feels there is in the film.

Tell you wife that I have seen The Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter at the Tea Cups in Magic Kingdom. My wife and the two Kids will be there also in March. We are taking our neighbors with us and they have two boys. I can't wait to go.

Excellent... my wife met Alice and the White Rabbit last go around, so the more the better. This will eb the first time I have went with "children" (as we take her two young sisters, 6 and 9) so I'm sure it will be magical in a new way... but we will keep our eyes peeled for new meet and greets!

Thanks so much for the info!

Take care,
J.
