It is getting tougher and tougher to feed our picky HFA son at Disney!

There are special vacation spots for families with more serious cases, maybe you should look into those?

Wondering if you are a travel agent in addition to being a specialist in the area of special needs children? :rotfl:

Seriously, my last post got kicked off, so I will reframe: OP simply was asking for advice on a picky eater, who happened to be HFA. It isn't fair to bring someone's parenting skills into question. You either can answer the question or not.

I think all moms do the best they can...and other moms understand that! We all have our burdens...no judgments here...:hippie:

Kids will eat anything if they get hungry enough. Here is a good article about neophobia (fear of new foods).

"While most children grow out of the food fussiness by age 5, not all do. For parents of particularly picky eaters, experts encourage them not to cave in when their children throw food tantrums.

"Parents should not feel like they're doing something wrong if they keep trying but their child is not overjoyed to be eating Brussels sprouts," said Marlene Schwartz, deputy director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University, who is not connected to the study.

While most people will eventually like any food — even one they initially disliked — after trying it about 10 times, more persistence may be needed when trying to convert a neophobic child."

THANK YOU!!!!

Its pretty pathetic what some parents let their kids get away with. WHO is th parent? I know a disney server who once told me about a guest they had. The kid was screaming and throwing a fit because he was hungry. This is in a RESTAURANT! The mother said her son eats nothing but pringles chips and McDoanlds chicken nuggets. My friend joked about it, but the mother insisted she was being honest. She said she was finally able to find a chicken nugget like McDonalds she could cook for breakfast. No clue on lunch, but she said most nights they would go through the drive thru and get him his nuggets.

Some kids just need a good beating now-a-days.

:confused3 :confused3 :sad2: :sad2:

Attitudes like this sicken me. The OP's child has autism. I wish people who knew so little about this would stop with their cavalier and hurtful remarks.

You do what you want with your children (which you probably don't have any in the first place) and we will do what we NEED TO DO for ours. I guess shoving food down the child's throat is a good idea too if they won't eat it? :sad2:

Two moderators have posted on this thread asking that we be respectful to others and not question other people's ways of parenting....this is a thread about a poster whose child has special needs...I cannot imagine how much it must hurt to come back and read some of these comments when you have asked for advice.

Those of you who have tried to be helpful and supportive to the original question, I am sure the OP thanks you.

This is the last warning, one more tweak, it will be locked.
