DS 6 was diagnosed with Grave's disease and began medication last week while I was away. (DD 9 was diagnosed in Feb) Anyway, he just seemed to be getting sicker as the week progressed and I took him to the emergency room on Sunday. While it does not look like his meds played a part in his illness he does have strep throat again. He is supposed to get his tonsills and adenoids out (because of the repeated strep infections) next Tues, but that may be postponed due to his Graves (meds can mess with your white blood cells and cause infection). Well, I called Thurs, Fri and today and have been told each time that they will call me back to let me know if its going to be as scheduled or postponed a week or two. Still no call, this is annoying to me.

DD9 came home from school yesterday and promptly slammed her hand in the car door. I have never seen so much blood in my life!!!! :crazy2: I have a fairly strong stomach but I have to tell you by the time we got to the emergency room it was all I could do to keep it together. She broke it and must see an orthopedic Dr. tomorrow. :sad2:

So I'm thinking I might be in for a long summer. Or that it can only get better. Thanks for letting me vent and sorry its so long.

Oh my. :( My mom has graves disease. I didn't realize kids get it too. Hang in there with everything!!!! Brighter days are ahead! :)

Ouch! You've certainly had a run of bad luck lately. Yes, it should get better now!

 to you and your kids.

Cancel the surgery. make sure his numbers are stable before he has it. Especially his free T3 and free T4.

I hope your daughters hand is ok.

Oh dear... I really hope that everthing will look up from here. And I hope your two will feel better soon :grouphug:

I don't know what Grave's disease but it doesn't sound fun. Sorry for the run of challenges in your life now. It will get better. I know from experience.

Happy Thoughts to all,

mt2

Oh man....I sure hope things will get better for your family! :grouphug:

Wow, you sure have a lot on your plate. Vent away.

I didn't realize kids could have Graves disease either.
Is it hereditary?
Hugs to you and your children.
Ouch, for your poor daughter, that must have been extremely painful.
Got the ice packs for her?
Hope your son's surgery goes well too. :)
I would be very annoyed if Dr. didn't get back to me, too.

A big Hug for you, sometimes it is soo much harder on the moms.
Hopefully, things WILL get better for you all.
Sending you lots of pixie dust

Hugs, Marilyn

I dont' even know what to say. I hope things start looking up soon. :(
