"It all started with a whopping price error…” 10/24 The Perfect Storm of Opportunity

This is an amazing trip report, especially for your 1st one. It most have been very Emotional for you to share some of this story, but overall it shows that you are an wonderful Mother & Daughter to your family. Thank you for sharing.

I like the way you think
That's just the tip of the iceburg. You have much to learn.

I think it is so much more common for families to visit Disney now than it used to be 25 years or so ago. When I was a kid I only knew of one family that went. I don't think kids are nearly as impressed by being able to visit as I would have been. Sure, they love it, sure they will be in awe sometimes. I would have been over the moon to just get there. Anything I actually saw or did would have just been gravy.

Boy, I sound old and crotchety don't I?
No, you don't! You were dead-on with that! You around the same age as me, maybe a little younger? (I'm 39 and holding) Whenever I heard of someone going to WDW as a child I used to think they were loaded with money. And every trip we took (local lakes, amusment parks) were golden because we didn't really take too many trips at all.

I wonder why it I find it acceptable to wait for an hour for park opening but not acceptable to wait for the ride.
:rotfl:
I love this line. It's so true.

We decide we will play it safe and use this as a day off. Bye bye 50’s Prime Time, I’ll miss you.
Oh no you didn't. I LOVE PTC! Ack!

There are two things Canadians take great pride in; beer and hockey.

I’m not fond of either. I am usually pretty quiet about this fact since I love Canada and would hate to have my citizenship revoked.
I'm surprised you typed this because now it's out there and they'll find you. Well, you can always delete what you wrote. But then again, I quoted you so they'll find you. They'll find you and kick you out of the country. Gee, that's too bad.

It is such a novelty that DD takes this picture of us.

I feel like I should audition for a part in “Trailer Park Boys.”

:lmao:

Wolfgang Puck Express!!! Yay me!
Yay indeed. I love love love Wolfgang's restaurants.

Her hair looks awesome! Was it expensive?

I cook pork chops with caramelized onions, rice and peas for dinner. I love being able to cook some meals!
I'm impressed with the menu.

Up Next: The Frightening Flip Flop Fiasco.
Great title. :rotfl:

psst! Don't tell anyone! I don't like beer either  And I only like hockey in person, not on TV, and I don't have a favorite NHL team. :rotfl:

I'm so glad your day turned out nicely! Sometimes we just need some extra downtime when visiting the Mouse. ;)

Kristen

It was nice to have a day off. If I wasn't so concerned that the Easter crowds were going to swoop in any day I would have scheduled some downtime in rather than 4 park days in a row.

Sounds like a super-relaxing day! No TSM stampedes for you!

Not that day... Stay tuned.

Thanks so much for the compliments. I am glad you're enjoying the TR.

Darn, I am bummed that you didn't get to do 50's Prime Time.

I was bummed at first about not getting to go. I brought up the ADR as we were debating whether to go or not and an hour or so later DD quietly told me how sorry she was that she messed up my plans. I gave her a big hug and told her it was OK and not to worry about it for a second.

Then I gave myself a kick in the butt for saying anything that would make her think the ADR was important.

Maybe I should just take you with us, and you can do the cooking!!:thumbsup2.

I'm good with that. :thumbsup2

I love your DD's hair with the braids. Super Cute!! How long did they stay in? I hope you make it to DHS the next day!

The braid stayed in for about 4 weeks. We did make it to DHS the next day, but there were still a couple of hiccups along the way.

Oh and in answer to your previous question of where did DH and I go on our honeymoon, it was Jamaica.I was really wanting to do a cruise, but my parents love Jamaica and go twice a year now that their kids are all grown. Anyway, they talked me into Jamaica by saying they would pay for half of our honeymoon if we would go there and try it. It was nice, and we enjoyed it, but I always wish we had done a cruise because I have never been able to get rid of the desire that I have to do one. I am begging my DH to do one this year for our 10 year anniversary, but he is insistent to pay off my car first. I know he is right about us getting it paid off, so I will just wait. Hopefully we can go next year.

I always wanted to take a cruise too but the older I get the less appealing it is to me.

You will be pregnant with your 5th on your 10th anniversary. I was pregnant with my second on mine. That's what happens when procrastinators marry each other! :lmao:

I want to be the enabler and say you should go on the cruise, but you know how I feel about debt. I have to side with your DH on that one. Sorry:sad1:

I am a willing student Master. :worship:

Phew. I'm glad I didn't come off sounding too cranky.

We are of about the same vintage, but I think I have a few years on you yet. I celebrated the 5th anniversary of my 39th birthday a few months ago. ;)

Hey, I thought you were my friend!

I guess I'll have to try to run across the border in the dead of night if the come looking for me.

Yay indeed. I love love love Wolfgang's restaurants.

It is forever on my must do list now!

Her hair looks awesome! Was it expensive?

I think it was $50.00 if I'm not mistaken. I priced it at Disney before we went on the initial trip and it was about $80. I decided not to make an appointment due to time rather than the money. I was happy we were able to fit this in this time.

I'm impressed with the menu.

Thank you! I hate to boast but I am a pretty decent cook.

Great title. :rotfl:

Thanks. It was going to be "Forgive me Dis'ers for I have sinned" I had a hard time deciding.

I never could take to hockey or beer. DH know that whenever I ask him if he has a beer to spare that I am making beer battered fish, and that I will hand over the 1/2 bottle that is left over to him to drink. It's a testament to how interesting I found the bottle that I was willing to try to consume the contents just so I could have it. Truth is I could only get half of it down and then had to get rid of the rest.

 I bet I wouldn't even be able to get 1/2 the bottle down. When I was a little girl, I saw my dad drinking beer, but I thought it was ginger ale and I asked him for a drink (he sometimes did drink ginger ale back then.) He thought it would be funny to let me have a sip! :scared1: It was just gross! Never liked beer since.

I liked beer when I was a little kid. I would "sneak" sips of my Dad's beer when he wasn't looking. He knew the whole time what I was doing so I always was "caught" once I tried to go for the second or third sip. I also loved when he would share his solomon gundy and pickled eggs with me too. I loved the stuff. Now I would toss my cookies if I tried to eat those things. :confused3

I finally had enough time to sit down and read your TR.

:hug:About your pops. If you want to know how I even got started on the PTR/TR forums, go back and read the intro to my Feb 08 PTR. The year leading up to my trip in 2008 was awful and that's an understatement.

I actually read your TR going backwards...but am caught up now. Nothing like sleeping in, unless you're wide awake....;)

Can't wait to read about you day at DHS (I had to force myself to NOT type MGM!!!) I am going for the first time with just my DH in June!! It will be our first trip without kids since I was pregnant with our DD almost 8 years ago!! I cannot even begin to describe how excited we are!!!

still drinking the sweet tea?;)

MmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmM Sweet Tea! Next time you are in the states you should find a Chick-Fil-A. It is a fast food chicken sandwich place...Oh my, their sweet tea is the best of the best. I have the ablity to make my own tea at home thanks to the Mr. Coffee iced tea maker

http://www.mrcoffee.com/Products.aspx?cid=43

But, I still buy it by the gallon every time I go! I might just have to go today!

Great trip report. I am so sorry for your loss but I am greatful that you decided to go back and finish your trip.

Hey Jordan, glad you got a chance to read my TR!

I actually did read you Feb 08 PTR awhile ago. That was some chain of events. You really did need that break from it all.

You read my TR backwards? How did that come about? I guess we won't worry about you too much unless you start reading upside down. :lmao: Ok, yeah, you're right. It was a lame joke but it's the best I got.

Anyway, glad you're here. :thumbsup2

You're June trip sounds fun. DH and I have been discussing whether we would visit Disney by ourselves when the kids are grown. I think we will but I kind of have a hunch that we would still take our kids with us if they were willing to go.

I haven't made sweet tea for a week or so. I just started back to work for the season so I have been much busier than usual. But don't worry, I will be making it again soon. I love it.

Thanks for reading.

I have heard chick-Fil-A mentioned a few times on the boards. I might have to check it out. I visited thier website this morning and the food looks good!

I didn't even know that iced tea makes existed. Oh how I wish I had a bigger kitchen so I could buy more gadgets...

Chick-Fil-A is the greatest! Its what brings me home when I travel north! I can't live without it!

The iced tea maker is so simple. All you do is fill it to the water line, dump it into the maker add your tea bags and add ice to the container. You can even add your sugar with the ice so it has a chance to melt while brewing. It takes about 10 minutes and comes out great every time! You can also use other types of bagged tea in it. I have made iced sleepy time tea in the past and the kids loved it!

The only reason we get to go alone is that my FIL is taking the big kids on a trip to Washington D.C. and other places. They will be gone for a least 2 weeks, and my mom will be taking the little monkey boy for the time we are gone!! I am so excited!!

Your DD's hair looks so cute with the braids. I am glad that she felt better so quickly after getting up. Sorry to hear that old town was not so nice. I have never been there. Guess I really don't want to go.

Glad you had a nice time at DTD. Shopping is always fun. I really hope you make it to HS for robe drop!

BTW - not every state allows wine and beer to be sold in grocery stores. I have always lived in Delaware and Pennsylvania and everything has to be sold in a liquor store. But I love going to Florida for the convenience on one stop shopping!

I wish I could say nicer things about Old Town but I can't recommend that anyone bother making a point to visit there.

:lmao: robe drop? I didn't know Disney was that kind of place. ;)

I really liked the convenience too! The first time we went we dropped into a Walmart and we were able to pick-up groceries, a cameral and some beer and winer coolers. Gotta love one stop shopping!
