It’s a...WDWKOOK LIVE TRIP of FIRSTS! TRIP SUMMARY PAGE 17!

My room was ready, which was very nice and the CM even let me have a choice of a few rooms, but the others were on the ground floor which I didn't want. This was my garden/woods view:
We had a room on the same side of the BC as your room. There are a lot of trees there and not any kind of a view. I can see why you wanted something different. ::yes::

It's classified as a Lagoon View, and I'm very happy with it, but if I had paid for it, I would be disappointed by all the obstructions. Right now, however, I have a perfect Illuminations view from my bed. Balcony view to right:
It looks like a lovely view, especially since you paid for a garden view. :)

I really wanted to like BC, but it just isn't for me. It's great though that WDW offers such a great variety of resorts - there's something for everyone. My overall favorite resort remains a Tower room at CR, but it's fun trying different ones and I look forward to RPC on Sunday.
That's okay. We don't like the Polynesian, which a lot of people love. ;)

Now let's see if you change rooms when you get to RPC. :rolleyes1

Oh no! I'm sorry you didn't like BC. I have to agree about your room location though -- we once had a room that was very far from everything and didn't like it one bit. If you ever get a chance to go back (or dare to go back...), try the CL floor and request a room near the lounge. That will also put you near the elevator that leads right to the lobby. In any event, enjoy YC!! Then off to RPC, can't wait!

OH bummer about BC! Glad they found you a nicer room and location at YC. As a read I felt like you'd end up at BWI  I truly hope RPC is magical for you this weekend my friend.
Amazing wait times at Epcot!

All these changes almost had me forgetting the AllEars Meet tomorrow!

This sounds wonderful! :cloud9: Enjoy your day at DHS and relaxing at SAB.

Now I must go clean something.

You reminded me that I always clean the house on Thursday - but not today:thumbsup2. I tell you, there's not much left for me at DHS. I walked on TGMR and then had a veggie burger at SFDI.

I had a FP for TSM and got the "new" side. I think the new pullies are slicker than the old ones ;). I saw some new Disney Security on the way out...

Thank you for taking us on this journey! We are checking in to the GF RPC for the first time ever on 9/26. Can't wait to see your photos from there.

Have a wonderful trip!!

You're welcome. I will take plenty of lounge photos:)

The thing that I discovered from the experience is that it doesn't fit the way we like to eat and drink. We really enjoyed having drinks and appetizers in Territory Lounge, for example, but we never stepped foot in it when we had the lounge to go to. The same with breakfast at Roaring Forks. It is the same reason we don't do the dining plan. Neither club level nor the DDP work for the way we do Disney. :)

I really hope that you have a good experience at the Beach Club, since it is one of our favorite resorts and the one we have stayed at the most often. :)

I know just what you mean. We also love TL, but feel this obligation to also use the lounge. We also dislike the DDP for the same reason as it forces you to order items you might not OOP.

Thank you for taking us along on your trip!! Sounds like you're having a great time (minus the CR CL lounge fiasco)! :thumbsup2

Even the unexpected parts have been fun - no complaints from me, just observations;)

Your trip report is such a treat for me to open up and read each day!
I'm sorry your CR CL stay didn't go as planned, but I'm glad you were able to switch to a regular room (that view!).
Hope you are enjoying BC -- it was our family favorite for many, many years.
However, I'm most excited for you to arrive at RPC! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for taking us along and keeping us informed :).

Well, we all know now how BC turned out, but I told you I'd be honest with my opinions so I hope it hasn't been too much room changing TMI.

I am sorry that you didn't like the BC. It was great that the YC could get you a room and so quickly. That happened to us at the YC once. We made so many turns to get to the room that we didn't think we would make it back to the elevator. I don't like that about those resorts. Can't wait to hear about the GF.

I was almost afraid they'd see me walking past BC on the way to YC:tiptoe::sail:. No sooner had I gotten to the room than I retraced my steps and added a few more to YC. I've found most of the Deluxe Resort managers to be very professional and helpful, and Luis was no exception.

Well, Geez Kook :guilty:
It makes us sad you have had not so good luck with your room assignments on the first try. After sharing with Mr Lodge Captain, I'm kinda glad he and DS always dug their heels in and insisted we stay put in our favorite room at WL. But, this is your trip of firsts and a lot of firsts you are having! What did you have to eat at EPCOT. We like to snack around the world. Well, now I see you ate/drank ;) in Mexico. I'm thinking the drink(s) were better than the eats. WOW those wait times REALLY are unbelievable!

Enjoy Illuminations!!

:flower3::mickeybar

I had the carne asada and it was very good. So was the Margarita, did I mention that?

Believe me, I wouldn't be doing most of this craziness with family, although the changing thing has happened with them. I planned this trip the way I wanted with no consideration for anyone else! Totally self-centered, another first.

We had a room on the same side of the BC as your room. There are a lot of trees there and not any kind of a view. I can see why you wanted something different. ::yes::

It looks like a lovely view, especially since you paid for a garden view. :)

That's okay. We don't like the Polynesian, which a lot of people love. ;)

Now let's see if you change rooms when you get to RPC. :rolleyes1

I can't imagine any reason I would change, but I also couldn't have imagined what happened Monday afternoon/evening at TC. Don't get me worried now

Did you ask to move? The reason I didn't is because the CM had already told me what was available, which I appreciated, but they were all ground floor which I generally dislike and always request top floor. I really didn't think anything could be done about the odor either. They would just spray something, but that wouldn't correct the problem causing the musty, stale odor. I also didn't make any balcony request, so there again, I didn't feel I could legitimately complain about that and the view I paid for.

My room now is located next to a hallway leading to stairs and an exterior door. I always take stairs when I can so this is an unexpected convenience Vs. the elevator in another zip code.

Sorry to hear about your disappointments so far ... hopefully RPC won't let you down. We always stay CL lagoon/pool view at BC and have been happy each of our stays so far. We'll see if it continues in a few weeks.

I don't think I would want the BC view either. I think I am liking your second choice rooms. Those views are amazing! I want to try YC now for the illuminations view. I'm waiting for the sun in the morning to see my tree view. So excited I'm here! Yay me!

I am glad you got to experience some nice September crowds at Epcot. If there's issues at RPC there's always WL... It should be fine though. I love how Disney has unique resorts with things to make them appeal uniquely to different people. There definitely is no single perfect resort for everybody.

Ate at San Angel. Not sure why I ever go back there, must be the Margarita?! The service is always meh and they serve you within minutes after you order. I had just gotten the limes for my Margarita when my meal came out. Literally, it was about 5 minutes after I ordered. It must be a nostalgia thing with me that draws me back. Years ago we'd go and it was good. I like the ambience and the decor is charming, and oh, did I mention the Margarita?
This sounds perfect for dining with small impatient children. I will have to remember it!

Make sure you don't get room 4201Deluxe king rpc. I had that room then Pas did too!

It is on the corner on the 2nd floor. There is a tree in front of it. Worse the CMs entrance is just below. They come around the corner and walk right TOWARDS YOU! i felt like i was in a fish bowl, lol!

However it is fun to get to explore the upper levels. i am such a child, i had to try each sitting area and explore the outer balconies too.

Hands down dd loves tea time the best! Scones and trifle and champagne oh my!

DH and i had room 4329 once. It is a king std room that is used as an add on to a suite. It faces the vgf/poly view side. The room has a different configuration and slightly smaller but has a double width balcony since its on a corner. Also it has a small hallway that goes from room to the hall around the upper lobby.I could go peak over and watch the people below, loved that!

However most rooms look just like the std rooms at gf and have a nice view of the courtyard view. If you have a preference ask at check in :)

Hoping you finale is awesome!

Ah the "tree" room. Any room not on the 2nd floor at RPC. ;)

Enjoy the "All Ears" meet @WDWKOOK  and I am still keeping my BC CL reservation....I will admit to thinking about changing though.... ;)

The only way I can justify a long walk to my room is if there is a beautiful view waiting for me when I get there. In July we changed rooms at BWI when the painting crew parked their cherry pickers in front of that view. The long trek to our room was no longer meaningful.

Enjoy the day and have fun at the meet up.

Ship Shape was very crowded this morning. It has always been the most crowded Deluxe gym, not sure why. I know it serves two resorts, but so do the MK Resort gyms and they're never as crowded, especially WL/VWL.

Sorry to hear about your disappointments so far ... hopefully RPC won't let you down. We always stay CL lagoon/pool view at BC and have been happy each of our stays so far. We'll see if it continues in a few weeks.

I'm sure their CL is a completely different experience, but no CL rooms were available yesterday.

Following along can't wait to see your pics of VWL.

I'll post WL/VWL photos later today:)

Maybe a beaver chewed that tree down during the night and opened up the view for you. Have a a magical day!

HA! It would also be perfect for larger impatient husbands;)

I'm booked in the two queen so that view shouldn't be an issue. I requested the rooms facing toward Poly. I love exploring too, and it's even easier when you're by yourself. I'm sure I often appear to be lost.

Ah the "tree" room. Any room not on the 2nd floor at RPC. ;)

Enjoy the "All Ears" meet @WDWKOOK  and I am still keeping my BC CL reservation....I will admit to thinking about changing though.... ;)

Thank you. I've never done this sort of thing before, but it's just too convenient to pass up and besides, I've been reading Deb's great website for many years.

You're welcome:). The lounge is very small with only 4 tables. This will be Day 4 without rain, but I think this is it, but I'm grateful for it, especially on "moving day."

It does seem small and while I've also only seen pics of Atrium Club, I think that would fit my family more than Tower Club. Glad the rain has held out so far. Hope you continue to enjoy your solo trip :goodvibes.

My DD has been at college since 8/21 and I'm so relieved she loves it.

Glad your DD is enjoying college life :flower3:.

We are checking in to the GF RPC for the first time ever on 9/26. Can't wait to see your photos from there.

Hope you have a nice time and enjoy RPC :wizard:.

I'm most excited for you to arrive at RPC! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Me too...can't wait to hear all about RPC and see more great pics ::yes::.

So about Beach Club:rolleyes1

I really wanted to like BC, but it just isn't for me. It's great though that WDW offers such a great variety of resorts - there's something for everyone. My overall favorite resort remains a Tower room at CR, but it's fun trying different ones and I look forward to RPC on Sunday.

I'm sorry you didn't like the BC. I agree that it's great Disney has so many choices to fit everyone's taste, budget, etc. We've had one stay at the BC and while it was nice, it's our least favorite of all of the resorts we've tried. Nothing went wrong and our room was ok, we just prefer the MK area and monorail resorts (along with WL). Glad the manager at YC was able to get you a room with a great view :goodvibes.

All these changes almost had me forgetting the AllEars Meet tomorrow!

Have fun :wizard:.

I will take plenty of lounge photos:)

Looking forward to them :goodvibes.

That's my favorite view when staying RPC :cloud9:.

I am really late to your Live TR but following! I was browsing the resort links to see which had their Mickey Ears and which were drooping lately. Our last trip we did not make any dining reservations (except for the Jiko Safari which ended being an ordeal of its own!) and loved every minute of it. You have the chance to try things you'd skip otherwise!

DH is really pushing for a 7 night cruise instead of a fall WDW visit but his travel schedule just isn't allowing it. I've asked him to ponder a 4 or 5 night CL stay and take that cruise in the spring! Do the tower rooms only have 1 sink? CR, Poly and GF were my first choices but CR may wait a bit longer after seeing your review and I think I saw that Poly CL food wasn't that great.

BC seems so much rowdier than YC side. I'm not sure I would like staying there when YC is an option. Love your new view and glad it isn't as claustrophobia as the other. I'm looking forward to your RPC reveiw later on.

If you wander back to AK, I would suggest Tiffins lounge (forget the name) or Tiffins itself. In July, we were the only ones in the lounge and there were 2 parties inside the restaurant. The rum drinks were delicious!!

Thanks for sharing this trip with us! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

Well, the AllEars meet can be described in one word - lame. I'm probably safe in making that assessment without flaming because apparently no one there was a regular poster to the DISboards! I had thought maybe some DISboard "officials" would be there or some posters, but I seemed to be the only one. I even asked around, but I just heard crickets. There were only maybe a dozen people there.

Deb Wills, the founder, was not even there, she had a cold. No speeches were made nor announcements. I almost wasn't sure where it was because they didn't even have a sign up or any indication what was going on. But, it didn't put me out since I just walked over to it at Sunshine Seasons and I was going to Epcot anyway today. I did get some free band aids and valuable "trading cards":rolleyes1

Non-existent 10:00 Epcot crowds:

I can't get over the free band aids.
Maybe you can include the trading cards in a care package for your dd later in the year. :-)

I don't think I've ever seen Epcot that empty. Hope the crowds stay low. Enjoy! :flower1:
