It’s the little moments that count!! 3/31 KathyRN137 & Lurkyloo's podcasts

I have learned through our trips at WDW if I am feeling overheated to not try to power through, get some water and get out of the sun so that is what I did. Bill had no problem with me going toTortuga Tavern to just sit down. I could still kind of see what was going on. After it was over I went up to him to see what I had missed. He said at the end of the show Jack came out into the crowd and shook his hand. I would have liked to have gotten a picture of that, oh well – next time.

Bill wanted to hear some “good old country rhythm” so we visited the Country Bears. I know some people think this is corny, old fashioned, and silly. IT IS!! That is why we love it. I wanted to see how the camera would do in the low lighting. As soon as we sat down the camera came out:

I was happy that so many people were there and really into the show. People were clapping and laughing , it was great!!

Our next stop was the Frontierland train station so we could check out Storybook Circus. While we waited for the train I took pictures (shocking I know!!)

Love Disney’s light fixtures:

The train came, the accessible car was full, no problem we would wait for the next train. We did this two more times and the other trains were full as well. Here is where the disappointment came in, Bill was upset because if he would have been able bodied we would have been on the train already. That hurts my heart when he thinks like it is his fault. It was getting closer to our ADR time so we decided to just walk out of the park, it was very hot that day and the breeze was just not there.

On our way back through Frontierland this happened:

Major character MOJO!! They were walking to go backstage and as soon as they saw Bill they headed straight for him. It really brought his spirits up after being upset about the train. It seems everything happens for a reason.

We were eating at Bill’s favorite restaurant, ‘Ohana, so we went to the monorail. Hello Grand Floridian:

We ended up being late to the ADR, but they seated us right away at a two topper table. Many times I request sitting next to Bill so I can help him cut up his food, but on this night I was happy we still got a table. I would gladly hop up and down throughout dinner after fixing his plate. The table they put us at was right next to where the servers came in and out of the back. The sun was shining through the window behind Bill so it was hard to get good pictures of him.

The entertainer Lipoa walked by us and stopped, she had remembered us from our other trips. She sang Happy Birthday to me when Bill surprised me with flowers, the Cinderella Slipper, and jewelry two years prior to this trip. She said she didn’t have a set until 7:15pm, they had cut her 6pm set for some reason. Bill and I think it is to turn over the tables quicker. We decided we weren’t leaving until we saw the show, so take that WDW management, we kept the table LOL.

There was a castmember, Edward, that saw how frustrated I was about not getting a good picture of Bill because of the light, so he helped me out. Introducing Mickey Bill:

Lipoa lei’d us twice:

Then she brought all the kids over to sing Happy Birthday for Bill, he was so happy. She came back by on her way to the back and we told her thank you and goodbye. She hugged us and thanked us for staying to watch her.

We went to the podium and talked to the manager to tell them how much we appreciated Edward and Lipoa. He talked to us for a couple minutes and we went downstairs to go to the bus stop. At the doors we saw Lipoa again, she was getting more lei’s. She hugged us again and said to add her on facebook. She is a very sweet lady.

On the way to wait for a bus:

We transferred at DTD. The Boardwalk is so pretty at night:

When we entered our room, the first thing I saw was a manual wheelchair by the balcony doors, Bill and I were both pleased that he could at least get on the balcony. He was too tired to want to go out there and I wanted to go to bed. We were going to Epcot tomorrow.

Next installment… How did we miss that??

Talk about some MAJOR character MOJO!!!! How great that you just happened to "bump" into some awesome characters!!! That alone would have been worth the walk.

We did O'hana for breakfast. It was so yummy. Its on our must do again list. I told Jon if we ever go back we need to try out dinner. I don't think I have ever heard a bad thing about O'hana.

I still can't get over your view. If that were our room I don't know how I would ever leave that balcony! Jon would be stuck taking the kids out and about while I sat and sipped some tropical drink with an umbrella. :rotfl:

Loved the Mickey Bill pic. :rotfl2:

Great update and pics. Bummer about the train but wow good luck with those characters coming up to Bill.

I hate the heat sometimes there, it just gets to be too much.

Glad he got the chair to be able to go out on the balcony.

That view from the balcony really is amazing. What a great way to start the day.

I love that Pirate show. My DGS was chosen to be in it last year. It was one of the highlights of our trip and he still talks about being as pirate.

I like the Country Bears and have a feeling I will be seeing it a lot on my upcoming trip. I have a DGD who will be a tad shy of the height requirement so I will be doing other things with her.

To bad about the train but what an amazing alternative. I have never seen the Country Bear characters out and about. I understand how Bill feels though. I can usually walk around but in Disney I need an ECV. Arthritis in my knees and back and now my hips makes walking there unbearable. I haven't rented a scooter yet because I feel like I hold everyone back or cause situations like that with the train. I haven't done the train in years because of it. Bill does seem to attract the characters.

I hate when Disney has rules about things like rolling coolers and then they ignore them. It starts a snowball effect when you let one or two break the rules, then everyone does it.

Loved the Mickey pic of Bill. At least you had a great end to the day. I ate at Ohana for the first time ever last October but for breakfast. It's booked for my next 2 trips again.

Bill is so lucky to have such great character mojo!:cool1: Captain Jack can shake my hand any time:lmao:

And then the Country Bears? There had to be a vibe.

ITA re the coolers/luggage/backpacks.

Oh Goodness.....seeing the ring in the rose made me cry! How perfect and romantic! :cloud9:

You really have a nice eye for photography. Have you taken a class or is that just natural?

Too bad you missed the Jack Sparrow handshake, but probably better you missed it rather than get overheated. Glad Bill got that experience. And the Briar Bear, Briar Rabbit, the country Bears WOW! Jackpot!

Bill looks so happy at Ohana's. Sorry you were too late to feel comfortable asking for the seating that best accomodates you guys. You really need to start asking cm's to take a picture of you and Bill together. I enjoy seeing Bill, but would love to see you both together. :)

I'm sorry Bill feels like he makes things more difficult because of his situation. I can understand that frustration. I only use a manual WC occasionally, but am limited in other ways always. I just keep reminding myself, there is good and bad in every situation. I am so happy he got a perfect example of that with the character jackpot. :goodvibes I'm sure I am preaching to the choir with you two seeing the silver lining. You just seem like that type of people.

We are trying Ohana's for the first time for dinner this Nov. Your photo's have gotten me all excited about it. Now, I know to ask about he serenading as well.

Loving all your updates.

Great character mojo!!! And a nice meal. I am trying ohans for the 1st time this year....can't wait.

I am soooo enjoying your trip report, you and Bill make such a great couple. My 3yr old just saw Jack's photo and said look mama that's a Jack... lol And then when she saw Briar Bear with Bill she said, look mama, that Bear is giving him love, then she said, awwww, so much love, it's beautiful... so glad it made Bill forget about the train delay, I almost cried when I read that.

Looking forward to more updates....

:flower3:

Great shots in Country Bear! I guess your camera does pretty good in low-light situations.

I'm sorry Bill was upset about not being able to get on the train. However, that did lead to some great character mojo!

Love Ohana! How great that the CM's were so wonderful!

thanks for the great update! your pictures are always very good. i'm sorry Bill got frustrated about the train. stuff like that is upsetting but a lot of times something better does come along, like his character meeting. i believe from what you write, that Bill is upbeat most of the time. He and you both sure seem special. thanks again.

I love your report! :thumbsup2 I almost cried when I read the part where you got your ring, he's a keeper for sure.
I love your view from your balcony. DD picked this resort at first for her graduation trip, but then changed her mind to AoA. She thought it would be better to be in a family suite and have extra room and that her DD would like the Finding Nemo theme better.

Bill was really happy to see the Country Bears. We need to try 'Ohana breakfast one of these days. I LOVED the view, it was just amazing.

Great character mojo. Your country bear photos came out awesome.

I was amazed at how well the Country Bears pictures came out.

Oh please rent a scooter, you need to be comfortable and not in pain. The rolling coolers are dangerous, the people pulling them were not paying attention at all. I love that Mickey Bill pic too. I hope you like Ohana :).

We have been blessed to have character mojo a lot. We were so excited about the Country Bears meet.

I have never taken a photography class, I keep saying I need to. Bill is always happy at Ohana, he loves the meat and especially the dessert. I hope you enjoy Ohana's. Some people love it, some don't care for it.

Lovely TR!

Thank you so much!!

Aww I love that you and your 3yr old were looking at our report, made me tear up when I read about what she said about the Bear giving Bill love. She sounds so sweet.

I was so happy about the low light shots. I felt so bad when he got upset, thank goodness for the characters that afternoon. We LOVE the Ohana CM's.

You are right Bill is really upbest, we believe that things happen for a reason, I am just happy that the characters were there to cheer him up.

Thanks for reading along. I think AoA would be really fun. We might end up there one day. We are addicted to the Boardwalk right now.

Welcome, thanks for joining us!! I often wonder if I am just annoying people with my writing :rotfl:. Thanks for the kind words.

It IS the little moments that count! I love Bill's smile as the Characters came to greet him - and I loved the smiles of the people standing around. I think that a little moment like that matter to everyone!

I was so happy they brought a wheelchair for the balcony - hopefully he gets rested and gets to sit out and enjoy the view!
