It’s Always Sunny in California!..Eh?...L’il Bit!

YAY, your back and I see you brought Cass along for the ride. Can't wait to get started, I love reading both yours and Cass' trip reports.

Happy Easter!

I love all the pics of flowers and spring! This weekend has been especially nice - finally can leave the windows open for a few!

I agree with you about the castle - it is smaller in height, but not as small as what I expected either.

I never adjusted on the trips out either. Most days I was up by 5 AM, which was sleeping in until 8 if on home time!

WOW, I am all caught up, I am so glad you and Cass hit it off so well. Can't wait to see how the rest of the week goes.

We had so much fun together. I am not sure who brought who. :lmao: She did a lot of the leading since she was more familiar with the park than I was.

That 3 hours difference really was hard on me. Yep, at home I almost never sleep till 8. That is sleeping in for me for sure, so I had many early mornings. And I like to call home when I am away in the evenings, but I couldn't because they were all asleep!

We hit it off so well. I tell you we laughed so much this trip. I can't even remember what we laughed about half the time, but it was so much fun and I hope we can meet up again in the future!

Continuing on my walk…..
Steakhouse 55’s waiting area.

A quick trip in the bathroom.

More of Steakhouse 55’s waiting area.

Always look up.

I went up a level and got this ceiling picture as well.

I walked around on this floor next to scope out things.

I believe this room is used for special events and conferences now…..someone told me during our conference that this used to be a restaurant…Stramboli’s.

I loved all the artwork on the walls in the hall.

I headed outside and took a picture of the doors leading into the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion.

A glance over at the monorail slide.

And down to the main level for some more walking.

A look back up from where I had been.

Green plants just made me so happy. It was nice to see so much GREEN!!!

I wanted to get a diet coke, so I headed in that direction.

But I stopped on the bridge for another shot of the slide.

I believe I still had about 5 minutes or so till they opened so I just hung in the area.

I know I wouldn't get the same feeling in Paris. There are too many differences there for me to have anxiety about. :lmao: But I know it's not owned by Disney either, which makes the service and everything different.
Maybe that's why it's so unmagical :confused3 I know when I emailed them after and pointed out things like the pin trading method the response I got was their CM's are supposed to do it the same as the US parks and that they were going to look into what I had said.

Love these light fixtures and all those hidden mickeys! :goodvibes

Really wish we could have done those monorail slides :worried:

I hear all the time how they do things differently and they act like they don't care most of the time.

Love the pictures! It looks like a very pretty hotel!

It really is!

I am not a graceful waterslide rider....so you would have had some more laughs watching me on that! :rotfl2:

I love all the early morning photos when nobody is around. Steakhouse 55 holds some very precious memories for me. This is where we had our vow renewal dinner.

All caught up now! (or not- I see you have a post that isn't linked yet. I'll read that tomorrow)

That was a really neat, special tour of Universal Studios. AMAZING views!

Your dinner sounded incredible.

That's a bummer that Cass had such a long time and so many issues getting to the hotel and checking in. :(

I think we will do one of the private transfers from the airport to the Grand Californian when we stay in July.

Cool view from your room. Can't wait to see it in the daytime. The pool area and slide look really nice.

So there's a Lego store in DTD. I'm in trouble!

I'm glad you got a quick introduction to the two parks and more importantly, got to meet up with your friend.

Your pictures of the castle are so pretty!

ETA: Now, officially caught up!

:cool1:

I  palm trees too!

Great pictures from your early morning stroll.

I love those private moments strolling around the hotel area before anyone else is awake. And I share those sleeping issues with you. My body wakes up between 4:30 and 5 no matter what or where I am. I am curious, and a little scared about what will happen when we are in DL and Hawaii in July.

I
I am sure I will stay on East coast time forever when I finally go out to DL. I'll probably finally adjust and it will be time to go home. :rotfl2:

Yup - I think I crashed on day 3. Did the same thing in Vegas - 3 days of only 4 hours sleep and then I slept for 12.

Jen - Loving the tour- My next trip I need to make sure I tour all the hotels. Making my list and this time I will keep it. :goodvibes

We ended up eating there later in the week and it was pretty darn good!

Yes, I do need to update my links. I tend to forget to do it and then play catch up every couple of days.
I did get the VIP treatment from Stacy and Mark. They are both so nice and I wish I could see Stacy more often than I do.
We really had a nice room with a nice view. Later in the week we tour other rooms and wow!!!! some have some fantastic views.
I don't think I ever actually went in the lego store this trip, but I know if we go back next year as a family there will be a trip and most likely something bought!

I got to tour all of the hotels throughout the week and a few offsite too. I am an onsite snob for sure. They are all really great on property and the ones I toured offsite were nice, but just not close enough for me. If I went offsite I would have to do one right across the street.

I just love these flowers!!!!

I believe I then went in and bought my diet coke and the food smelled pretty good, but I didn’t want a full breakfast. I decided to just have my power bar that I still had in the room.

A peek at the Adventure Tower. This was the tower that our original room was in.

And of course it isn’t Disney without a few topiaries.

Cass is not a Minnie lover so I took this picture and posted it to facebook and tagged her. LOL

I then headed back to the room.

I finished getting ready for the day and then I took this picture of our carpet.
On a side note, when I took a shower this morning I noticed the shower head rotated. It was the weirdest and coolest thing. Cass mentioned it to me too and she even took video of it!

I believe this is when we decided to head down to bell services to inquire about how to get our luggage over to the Grand Californian the next day. (I could be wrong, but my pictures make it look like this is what we did now).

I think this is a picture of some art in the hallway.

This map of the park is in the lobby and it is really neat.

Out to the front to talk to bell services.

We found out it was easy to do and we could just drop them off in the morning and it should only take a few hours to arrive over to the GC. Of course they could not guarantee a time of delivery, which did make us a bit nervous as we would need to change before our first conference meeting.

While we were out there I took a few more pictures.

This is the gift shop….and I swear it was never open when I wanted to go in there.

As far as the resort gift shops go though, this one was the biggest and looked to have the best selection. I did get in there finally a few days later, but didn’t have much time to browse.

Now following my pictures, it appears we headed back to the room for something…though I have no clue why. Perhaps I forgot something.

They had these cute doors on each floor and we later found out it leads to a staff elevator.

You are making me think next time I make it to DL I'll have to stay at least one night at an onsite hotel.:lmao:

Love all the pictures and the green. I am sure glad it is starting to get green here.

I SO was hoping to get to stay at least a night or two in the DLH for our upcoming trip but I had things came up and it became out of our reach :( maybe one day though

Those flowers...I think they are called Birds of Paradise, right?

And fully displaying my geek status (and my age), I think they are the same flowers Superman flies away to get and bring back to Lois Lane while she waits for him in the Fortress of Solitude in Superman II.

More cool resort pictures.

I really like the one of the Sorcerer's Hat. At first, I thought it was a topiary under construction, then I noticed it was just palm fronds.
