"It’s a Nice Song, but They Won’t Stop Singing!!” A June 2013 TR LAST Update!!! 12/11

Goodbye Magic Kingdom!
June 22, 2013

Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in here before my next update to send a HUGE apology to everyone! Things have been soooo crazy busy, and I really haven’t had much time to update as frequently as I’d like to. :( Apparently, junior year in college is the busiest year of them all, and I decided to add a part time job into the mix back in August! I do enjoy working and getting a bit of extra cash, but with everything going on, I have neglected the boards. Finals is coming up in just two weeks, and being an education major, most of my “finals” are in the form of projects and papers. :badpc: :surfweb: Which meansss..... they take me sooo much longer than just studying for an exam. ANYWAY, on a much happier note, I am leaving for Florida in just 3 WEEKS!!! I cannot believe it! I’m super excited!!! BUT that also means I have to finish up this report before I start a new one!! Well, gosh, instead of rambling some more, LET’S GET TO IT!!

We left New Fantasyland and made our way down Main Street.

Just look at that beauty up there!!

The trolley show was going on, so we stopped for like two seconds to watch.

We stopped to get Troy’s First Visit button!!

At 12:15 we got on the monorail for Epcot.

Welcome to Your Future
June 22, 2013

Beautiful!!

We got to the park about 20 minutes later and went right to on Spaceship Earth.

We went into Mousegears to look for souvenirs for Troys family.

After about an hour, we decided to head into Mexico for a snack.

We got guacamole and chips and sat and relaxed on the water. It was nice, but this bird kept coming around the kids kept feeding it! The parents were all laughing and encouraging it. You may or may not know my fear of birds, but this was definitely reinforcing it.

Ohana part I
June 22, 2013

Anyway, after that trauma, it was about 2:30. We went over to see if we could get on Soarin, but the line was incredibly long. We decided to get FPs (which we never used. Sad face). We went on Living with the Land for a nice relaxing boat ride through the greenhouses of Epcot.

We were done by 3 and started heading out of the park.

We were asked to take a food survey, so of course we agreed! It only took about 15 minutes. Then we hopped on the monorail, and by a little after 4, we were at the Poly!

We looked around in Boutiki for a bit. We went out to the beach and sat in a swing. It was such a wonderful and peaceful afternoon.

By the time 5:00 came around, I decided we should go check into our ADR! Where would we be checking in?? OHANA BABY!!!

It was soooo crowded! We watched their opening ceremony thing where they clapped and yelled. We were given a pager and told to wait on the couches.

I love the Poly!

Finally, we were seated at 5:20pm.

The food was really really good! However, it was really crowded and we felt really rushed. It was definitely not a relaxing dinner, but it was very delicious!

We started with salad which neither of us ate much of even though it was really yummy!

The bread, of course was fantastic!

And the hot towels were wonderful.

The pot stickers were my FAVORITE! There was also the chicken wings which were sticky, but yummy!!

Troy, taking advantage of his legal age, ordered a Lapu Lapu. He said it was ok, but he was on the verge of getting a migraine, so he said it had a strange taste. He said that he probably wouldnt get it again because of that. Poor thing couldnt really enjoy his meal because of his headache.

Ohana part II
June 22, 2013

Anyway, the meat was really really good!

I didn’t have any of the shrimp though!

And the fab dipping sauce!

We didn’t even touch the noodles and veggies, though! LOL!

This was adorable! The coconut races were so fun! They came so close to our table, though and I was so nervous they would hit their head on the corner!!

Finally, my favorite part (which I wish I could’ve enjoyed more) was served! Dessert!!! Banana Bread Pudding.

I honestly thought I was going to toss my cookies because I ate so much. It was bad! We waddled our way out of there exactly an hour later at 6:20.

We made our way to the monorail and got to the MK bus stop by 6:40.

A Perfect Little Evening
June 22, 2013

We were at the Dolphin by 7:20pm. We were soooo tired, and my feet hurt soooo bad. I really really wanted to watch Illuminations with Troy, and he wanted to get some wine from Italy for his parents and sister, so we left the room at 8:24 and booked it to Italy. We were there by 8:45. It was a record breaking walk/limp/light jog. He bought the wine and we watched Illuminations from Germany. It was SUCH a wonderful evening.

On our way out, I was happy as a clam. I was in my favorite place on Earth with my favorite person on Earth. I was belting the exit music and having so much fun! “We Go ON!”

We walked back to the Dolphin (slowly). The adrenaline wore off, and my feet were killing me. We took a bunch of breaks, but it was a really nice evening in the Epcot resort area.

We finally got back to the room by 9:53. We were so exhausted and crashed instantly!

Following along!

Love all your photos, they're all so artsy, especially the boardwalk and beach/yaht club ones! :thumbsup2:

Can't wait to read more :goodvibes

Hollywood Studios Morning
June 23, 2013
Day 7

It was our last day! :(

I woke up at 6:15am and showered. I got Troy up at 6:30am, and he got ready as well. We packed our suitcases and got everything together. We brought our things down to luggage services because we had to check out of our room and we were TOTALLY hitting the parks!!

We checked out of our room 7:45 and headed over to Picabu for breakfast.

Troy got a pastry and a banana, and I just grabbed a banana. The total for our HUGE breakfast was just a mere $7...um, what? Two bananas and a pastry cost us $7?? Holy moley. I wasn’t surprised, but it was still worth mentioning!

When we were done eating our royal worthy breakfast, it was about 7:55, and we were out the door!

There was a boat waiting for us, and we hopped right on! Where were we going? DHS of course!!!

We got to the gates by 8:07 and were let in a little after 8:30am. Of course, we booked it over to TSM for some FPs!!!

Then, we had to book it back over to MY FAVORITE RIDE OF ALL TIME!!!!

We got in line for ToT at 8:45 and waited for it to open just before 9. Gosh, I love this ride so much!!

After ToT, we went over to Rockin’ Roller Coaster. Troy loved it! He said it was his favorite “thrill ride!”

THEN, since the line for ToT was still pretty short, we hopped right back in line and rode it again!!

The Time I Actually Won
June 23, 2013

It was almost time for our FP, so we walked over to One Man’s Dream for a quick walk through. We didn’t stay for the film because it was time for TSM!!! Maybe I’ll make Troy sit through it next time. I just love that movie, but it was too long to watch today!

We got to TSM at 10am, and omg you guys. I WON!!!! I NEVER win, and I thought I definitely wouldn’t win because Troy usually beats me at those kinds of things. But NOPE! Not this time!!!

We were hungry, so I had the bright idea of getting a carrot cake cookie from the Writer’s Stop.

OMG it was sooooo good!! I had been wanting to try it for a while, and it was just amazing! Since it was so big and rich, we split it between us. I also ordered an iced macchiato which was also fabulous.

It was SO HOT that day, so we really wanted to stay inside in the AC as much as possible.

We made our way to Stay Tours and got on the ride at 10:30am.

Then we got in line for the Great Movie Ride at 10:50am. The wait was posted as 25 minutes, and we got on the ride at 11:30.

Lunch at Starring Rolls = YUM
June 23, 2013

After our journey through the movies, we headed over to the Backlot Tour because I had been hearing rumors that it was going away. I really like that ride even though a lot of people think it is a waste of space. I have some great memories from that ride that I cherish, and it makes me so happy. I really wanted Troy to experience it before it goes away, so we did!

Then we walked down the Streets of America for a bit.

We were done by 12:30, and we tried to decide where to eat lunch. Obviously, at 12:30 EVERYTHING was crowded. We walked around to different CS locations, and the lines were just WAY too long! So, I suggested Starring Rolls because I knew they had lunch food there as well.

OMG you guys. If you ever get the opportunity to eat at Starring Rolls for lunch, DO IT. Holy Moley it was fabulous. I had the turkey sandwich, and Troy had the ham sandwich, and they were so fresh and wonderful and delicious! Like seriously, they weren’t your ordinary deli meat sandwich. I just can’t even describe how good it was!

For dessert, we got the Butterfinger cupcake to share because YUM.

We could not finish it though! It was just too big and too chocolatey wonderful.

At 1:15, we decided to browse through the stores to find some souvenirs for our families. I just love Disney merch, and I could have been in there for hours!!

Goodbye Disney
June 23, 2013

We left the park at around 2pm. :( I was so sad!! BUT on the boat back to the Dolphin, a little voice/ a manly 21 year old voice, turned to me and said, “so when are we coming back?” HOLD THE PHONE. WHAT?! He just asked me WHEN WE ARE COMING BACK!!! That means he liked it! He really liked it!!! Oh, Gosh! I was jumping for joy (on the inside because, let’s be real, there were other people on the boat). Mission: COMPLETE!

We got back to the Dolphin at around 2:15, and we got ice cream from the Fountain.

Troy’s cookie dough:

My banana and chocolate shake!

Being the most fantastic boyfriend in the whole entire world, Troy walked over to Epcot to get me a WS food shirt that I had been eyeing the entire trip! I was planning on going over, but my feet hurt so much. He’s perfect!

We sat around the lobby enjoying the last few moments of Disney until we had to leave. I also checked into our flight, so we didn’t have to at the airport.

We got our luggage and a taxi, and we made the 30 minute drive to the airport. We got to the counter and checked our bags. We got our boarding passes, and went over to the fountain that everyone sees on their way out of the terminal. We had a looooong wait (I was paranoid about getting to the airport on time, and we ended up having like four hours to spare).

We looked around in the Disney store, and I found SO MANY cute things, but I didn’t get anything.

This is so me...

AND I want this:

At about 5:30, we were hungry, so we went over to the food court to get pizza from Sbarro. It was yucky compared to Disney food!

We went through more shops and decided to head through security. We got through in about 30 minutes. They were so rude! I understand how monotonous their job must be, but they don’t need to be so mean. They actually almost lost Troy’s necklace/ cross he always wears that he had to take off. It almost slipped between the bars, but I reached down and snagged it before it went through. I almost lost my cool on that one and may have said some snarky words to the lady who was throwing the trays across the bars. ANYWAY.

We got to the gate by 7:10. We had to wait around for a bit, and I noticed there was a frozen yogurt place, and I LOVE FROZEN YOGURT. We don’t have ANYWHERE around us that sell froyo, so we HAD to get some!! It was called Freshens, and it was fabulous.

We went back to the gate, and soon enough they were calling us to board.

The plane was running a bit late, so we actually boarded at 8:30pm. We were the second ones on the plane, thanks to early bird check in on Southwest, and we sat right up front where there was lots of leg room (this is critical for two over-six-footers)! We left the ground at 8:50 and landed 1,500 miles north at 11:20pm. Troy’s brother picked us up at the airport, and we got home at 2am.

This was a great trip. We had so much fun, but I wish we could’ve stayed for longer. Troy was a bit shocked with the prices of Disney, and he said that it’s not worth going for just a short time. (I do agree, but I was, of course, like “yeah, but!”) Anyway, it was a trip with a purpose. We helped mom move down and get settled in, and we also got some time to spend in Disney. I was able to go down again in July to visit, and Mom and I spent a couple days in Disney as well. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge which was super fun because that was our first stay there! I’m super excited to get back down there in December/January coming up in just a couple weeks!! We will be staying at Art of Animation in the Little Mermaid section which I AM SO EXCITED FOR!!!!!!!!! With my job, it is difficult to get away for a bit because I just started in August. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get down again after the December/January trip, but Mom is coming up to visit during her spring break in March!! Yay!

Thank you so much for following along! I apologize for the sporadic updates. Life is so busy, so I really appreciate you all who have stuck with me. I will be doing a TR for this trip coming up in a couple weeks just because it is a Christmas trip, and I have not been during the season in many many years! There will be many photos to share as well as the new FP+ and Magic Bands thing! I am just very excited, and I can’t wait to share it all! Again, thank you so so so so much!!

Until next time!!

Epilogue

Since the trip in June of 2013, Mom is down there, living it up in the sunshine while I shiver up here in gray snow. :cold: Hee hee. Maybe someday I will get down there for good, but for right now my life is in Vermont/New Hampshire, at least until I finish college. Mom is working at a high school down in Florida where she teaches French. :teacher: Her commute is about 1.5 hours one way which is NOT ideal. She is constantly looking for a new job, and hopefully get something different and closer to home for next year. Step Dad is still working nights at his job, and he is hoping to switch to days sometime soon.

As far as Troy and I, we are still up in VT/NH finishing college. I am working at a Gap Factory Outlet store in New Hampshire while beginning the second semester of my junior year. Things are crazy, and life is busy! We do have snow on the ground, and the temperature is getting colder. :crazy2: I’m not looking forward to the next couple months of extreme cold and heavy snow, but after living here for most of my life, I am definitely used to it and find ways to cope with it. However, I always dream of warmer days. BUT don’t we all? ;)

:santa: Take care and have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! :santa:

Loved reading your report. I understand the delays, life gets in the way for all of us. Thanks for not giving up and finishing your report.
A couple notes. I never knew they did an opening thing for Ohana. Will have to check that out. I still haven't seen Ones man dream. Next time. My timing is always off. Yah for winning in TSM. Those sandwiches looked great from Starring Rolls. I am not surprise that Troy can't wait to get back. Have a great trip! I will be waiting for your report.
Merry Christmas if I don't see you on here before.

I enjoyed this TR! I'm so glad Troy enjoyed Disney so much! Hooray for going back so soon!!

OH MY WORD!!! HOWEVER DID I FALL SO FAR BEHIND??!!! :upsidedow You've finished the TR - like finished weeks ago!

So very excited for you and Troy....he loved it, huh?!! Looks like y'all had a blast. Knew you would ;) The crowds didn't look that bad either. Bet it was little weird not being there with your mom  Didn't stop you, though.

Glad to hear school is going well for you both. I finally finished grad school in December.....never again! If you decide to do a master's degree, do it while you're young!

So, I'm assuming you're in Florida right now??? Would you believe we took a mini trip to the MK last week??!! Had a ball! Crowds were ridiculous but we still had fun.

Always love following along with you on your TRs! The pictures were beautiful as usual :thumbsup2 Can't wait for you to do another!

Take care and have a blessed New Year!!!

Thank you for following along! I completely understand...I am soooo far behind on so many TRs :worried: life gets in the way too much!! ;)

I just got back on Saturday, and we had a lot of fun! I can't wait to start the TR! Oh wow! I bet the crowds were crazy! It was very crowded when we were there after New Years!

Aww, thank you so much! :goodvibes And it's a bit late, but have a wonderful New Year!

I everyone!! So I did get back last Saturday, and I thought that I would have the TR started by now, but I am in the middle of switching image hosting websites because Photobucket has FINALLY made me angry enough! I'm going to try out Flickr, so we will see what happens! It's taking a loooong time to upload, so hopefully I will get all my pictures up for the first few days this weekend! The good thing about having it take so long is that I was able to go through all the pictures already! I'm warning you, it's like over 1,000!! :goodvibes I just couldn't help it! It was so gorgeous. I really miss Disney, so I want to get this TR up ASAP!!

Anyway, I'll be back to post the link to the new TR. I just didn't want you to think I just abandoned this thread! :goodvibes

Stay tuned!!
