I've looked over the menus on-line and haven't been able to find stone crab. I know Fulton's has them, but there are not on the DDP. Anyone have stone crab on the DDP?????

stone crabs are a seasonal food, and owuld be hard to find in any of the parks. Your best bet would probly be Bluee Zoo, Shula's, or V&A. They are rather costly, and probly in the same class as lob ster on the DDP.

The stone crab season is "R months" - Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr. If you get them outside of those months, they will probably be frozen. The way you tell is frozen meat will stick to the shell. It will also lack taste.

Fulton's has stone crabs, but is not on DDP, as noted above. Their prices are also more than Joe's Stone Crabs in Miami Beach...and Fulton's is most definitely NOT Joe's.

I don't know if Shula's has stone crabs or not. I don't think I've ever seen them on the menu at Shula's here in Miami, but I could be wrong.

Thanks JimMIA! I didn't know about the "R" months. Stone crab season seems to be the "inverse" of Chesapeake Bay crabs. Their season is all the months *without* an "R". :-)

I was thinking that either Narcoosee's or the CA Grill might have them, but then realized that "CA" Grill is California cuisine, not Florida.... duh.... But Narcoosee's in the Grand FLORIDIAN should have them, one would think...

Oh well, I'll be there in August, so the wrong season for stone crabs. I'll just wait for my shipment from Joe's in December. My wonderful brother has them shipped from Joe's for my Xmas present.
