we are trying to decide between Eastern and Western Caribbean for a multi generational cruise for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We will have a 5 & 8 year old with us. Does anyone have any reports to share with us or recommendations for your preference and why?

There's one right below this of a western with 2 young kids.

Big differences are really number of port days vs sea days. Western has 3 ports plus castaway cay while eastern has 2 ports plus castaway cay.

Thank you! I took a peek at your PTR and would love to read a trip report when you get back. I wish we could do a SWDAS as my boys would LOVE it, but my parents anniversary is in June so we will travel then. Have a wonderful cruise!

One of my concerns with the 3 ports is that so many of the cruise excursions say ages 8+. I read the trip report below where the reviews of the shore excursions planned with kids on the Western were less than glowing. I know there's plenty to do on the ship so maybe only 2 port days would work better with younger kids? My husband really wants to do Jamaica though...
