Isn't a turning signal to let one know you're getting READY to turn?!

Why do people turn on their turn signals while in the turning process or when they are already in my lane? Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it? I can SEE that your are merging into my lane. I can SEE you are taking the turn so why bother with the signal now?! :furious:

Ok, venting complete!!!

Can I add to your vent. I hate it when someone turns their blinker on to signal that the car in front of them has their signal on.

At least they are using them.

Around here it's like cars came without turn signals.

What is this "signal" of which you speak?

Actually around here it's worse. About half the people signal, the other half don't. Trying to guess what people are about to do can be either amusing or terifying, depending on if you're in their way or not.

lol, at least the person used a turn signal-most ppl around here don't.

I completely understand. But exactly, at least they are using them.

How about the other end of the spectrum. The people who turn their blinker on 5 blocks before they turn?

LOL!!! When I was my stepfather used to drive 4 hours with the signal on and if anyone said anything we would get yelled at. The whole way we heard "tick, tick, tick, tick" It drove us CRAZY!!!!!

There was just a story on the news last week about using your turn signal. Apparently 40% of the Twin Citites doesn't bother to signal for reasons such as... it's too much work, their too busy, or it adds excitment to driving. :rotfl2:

I always signal, even if I'm the only one on the road.

That is one of my driving pet peeves too!

Like, gee, now that you have slammed on the brakes and nearly caused me to swerve into a ditch, it would really be helpful for you to flick on that signal NOW...hmmm I think the point is signal first, hence warning other drivers what you are about to do BEFOREHAND. Or else the ones that slow down to a crawl while you are trying to figure out if their car is dying and whether you should pass them or not and then just when you are sick of trying to anticipate what the heck they are trying to do, they finally see your exaggerated handgestures in their rearview mirror and flick on a signal. Freakin' geniuses.

Whew. I feel better now. Thanks Tiff. LOL.

Most folks in my area think that turn signals are "options" on the car....and make that an option they didn't spring for....

or maybe, they just think they get charged per blink? blink, blink, blink, blink, blink ---- wow, that could add up!!!

D'oh! I just remembered to go down to the garage and turn my left turn signal off.

Give the people who don't use their turn signals a break. Afterall, they may simply be low on turn signal fluid (or completely out for that matter).

I got burned by someone who used to their turn signal to signal a lane change. I thought they were turning, so I pulled out from the side street that I was on and promptly t-boned them. Yikes. Talk about mixed signals. Turn, that is.

Around here if you use a turn signal they shoot you.

Actually my pet peeve is people who speed up so you can not merge into a lane because they saw your turn signal. That and not letting people turn out of driveways (like from a grocery store, or the McDonalds at the corner of Palmer and McNeil, yeah Thanks guys cause that was really sweet of ya'll yesterday around 5:30pm) and blocking them instead.

The joke around here is "I know where I'm going, why doesn't everyone else?".
