Island Hopping: A Highly Inappropriate TR. (Boom.)-- Link to NEW TR! 10/8

We were caught in a downpour in AK a few years ago as well. It just happened after my son and I went on Kali River Rapids twice in a row so we were pretty soaked from that. We then decided to head out of the park since it was a half an hour before closing and it looked like it was going to rain soon. So as soon as we started to get close to the trams it POURED!! We just had to laugh as we saw people scrambling for their ponchos and covering their heads with their maps (Like that was going to do anything):rotfl2: So the three of us just shrugged it off like "screw it, were all ready beyond wet at this point."
It did make for a very steamy car ride back as we had already missed one tram and had to wait for another.

Also my son is 7 and he LOVES talking about poop too so you may be hearing about it for a while:lmao: Not sure what it is about kids and poop but it is so fascinating to them.

We love AK! Like your girls, my daughter wants to be an animal doctor and work at AK. She also wants to be a paleontologist-she has a lot of school ahead for her. ;). She loves animal facts and would totally get along with Julia. :)

I am loving your trip report! Your kids are clever and hilarious!

Yes!! A dismeet will have to be in the cards for sure!!

How cute that Julia was educating everyone!

I’ve only ever gone out to RPW once and it was to get the characters that were out there and then head back to the park, baha! Maybe next trip we’ll explore more back there! I would probably want a little stuffed panda as well….my stuffed animal collection was HUGE when I was that age.

Ahaha, of course they ended up in the enclosure, and how cute that Sawyer has a friend hand, that’s great! Also, they don’t let you into the actual area to pet the goats? My how times have changed!

Ahaha, I know what you mean about the funny rain, Paige and I definitely laughed our way through our fair share of rainstorms. Not the one in AK though, pretty sure we both thought that thunder would be the last thing we would hear! Lawl. Ahh!! Now I’m super excited for the dinner update!
Yeah, there was a lady walking around warning people to let the animals have their space inside the ropes, pet through the ropes, pet animals if they wandered out of the ropes, etc., but that the ropes were their personal space. I guess she actually thought my kids understood personal space :lmao:!?
That thunder wasn't so funny, you're right! But I could not believe the amount of rain falling at one time. I've never seen anything like it!

Heh. Poop. That just makes me smile. And then my immature brain says "Julia was making it her DUTY to play the game." Because I'm a 5 year old inside. So obviously, I would fit in just fine with your not completely normal family. I mean really, you sure you don't want to go in December so I can hook up with y'all?

One trip, we had a downpour every single day. I remember people were actually just carrying their shoes and going barefoot because there was so. much. water. in in Epcot. Literally puddles that were 4-5 inches deep. I do find it sort of ironic that they shut down Kali in the rain. I mean, really, what's some more water?
:rotfl2: You would totally fit in with our family! Wish we could go in December!
My shoes were Crocs sandals and were trying to float! I probably should have taken them off. It was a struggle, for sure.
ANd yeah, closing Kali of all things?! Hardly any of it ISN'T in water!

Yet another part of Animal Kingdom I've never explored! I really need to check more of that park out.

I love that Julia loves random facts. As someone who's brain is filled with far too much random trivia, I totally understand that.

Match the feces to the species is brilliant! I mean, gross, but brilliant!

Man, you guys are getting hit with so much rain this trip! I'll need to make sure to bring a poncho and an umbrella this trip.

Speaking of, have I mentioned at all how excited I am for September? I don't know know if I have at all. I should probably mention it. I AM SO EXCITED FOR SEPTEMBER!!!
I'm telling you, Matt, this trip was our first one with actual rain. On all our other trips, we've probably taken out ponchos twice, and then by the time we got them on we didn't need them anymore. It can happen like this in September, but it never had happened to us before and might not again. Be prepared, but I don't think it's likely that it will be like this. Most of the time the storms last about ten minutes and are gone.
You're excited about September!? Hmmmm, never would have guessed it :rotfl:! ME, TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH! Can't wait!

Between Julia possibly educating the complete stranger, Refecca, and Hand, your kids sound hilarious. And you're totally right about AK having the best baby care center. I only know this because my sister and my nephew are my Disney companions, so even though I'm childless, I've still visited them with her. I love that you were laughing so hard on your way out.
They are definitely entertaining! And Julia's pouting made me laugh even more...does that make me a bad mom?? :lmao:

We were at Epcot during that downpour!! It was just crazy! It was the first couple hours of our trip and we were walking from the swan to the land at Epcot. Soaked to the bone! There were instant rivers everywhere! Glad you braved it with a smile. Gotta love hurricane season in Florida!
Wasn't it weird!? Never seen anything like it!

Bahahaha! I love to see the map move!! I also don't know how people wear tennis shoes. I couldn't stand that if it rained! Crocs sandals all the way for me, even if they DO float in the rivers of rain!
Apparently poop is the height of hilarity! This should be some fun years:crazy2:.

Julia wants to have pretty much every career in the world, and if anyone can do it, she can!! She's a wealth of random knowledge and is extremely curious and always has a plan. She would love your daughter!:goodvibes

That was such a nice update! I love your kids. They crack me up! And I am so excited to make my own memories with my own kids!

I do have a question: have you been to WDW while pregnant? We are going next month, and I'll be almost 5 months. Just wondered if you had any tips!

Poop is pretty funny. I can see why the kids spent the afternoon talking about it. ;)

We've never really explored AK. Maybe someday.

Can't wait to hear about dinner. Hope you didn't have to take an ark!

I have been while pregnant with Sawyer in May of 2010! I was about 30 weeks, I believe. I did just fine--drank lots of water, rested, went slowly (we do that anyway because of the kids). It was just fine and I'd do it again in a heartbeat...the trip, not another pregnancy:rotfl2:! Now, that being said, I did end up on bed rest for pre-term labor with him at 32 weeks, but they assured me my trip was not the reason, just nature. And he wasn't delivered until 39.5 weeks, so it all turned out fine!

SORRY THESE PICTURES ARE SO BIG!!!

Yeah, it's funny. I'll admit it. :lmao:
We only slowly explore AK. We usually only stay half a day or a little more and change up what we see each time. It's the park we really don't feel pushed to fully explore each and every time:confused3.
I know that you of all people will enjoy the dinner update :thumbsup2.

Nice update! Animal kingdom is my favorite park! :lovestruc love the animals, it has my favorite ride ( expedition everest), and i love the atmosphere!

What an awesome set of adventures in AK.

It sounds like I need to take Julia to AK with me or at least give her my pictures to associate animal facts with :lmao:. Because I intend to read about the animals and sometimes do. Then I take pictures of the animals, come home, show them to people and say OH I know something really cool about this animal that I learned in Disney BUT I forgot. It makes for a horrible story.

Love that the CM entertained them with poop.

I really wanna spend more time at RPW next time. We went both trips to meet Rafiki, because yes I am a crazy character stalker and then DBF insisted on petting the goats :confused3 I guess we have the same interests as your kids :lmao:

Omg so much rain! I can't believe Julia didn't buy your wash cycle argument. I like it. :goodvibes

Ah a Dismeet sounds like an awesome awesome awesome idea. Especially since I've never had one!!

Just chiming in and sayin' a DISmeet should happen (ps I'm the "Dani" Jenn is referring to, hahaha)! :thumbsup2

Now, to read the latest update and comment! :rotfl:

OH, my goodness, I just found your trip report and I read the whole thing today! You have a very entertaining writing style, and a lovely family. Cant wait to read the rest.
Your photos and videos are treasures. Please hurry with more updates!:)

oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness......My 4yo neice, Willow, who is coming with us in Sept had a friend, "Fing" (like thing, but with an f) but her friend is really her hand. She even has a 'hat' for him (one of tose base ball hats from the 0.50 machine). She talks to Fing like he were a person, not her hand. Her and sawyer should gets their hands together for a show!

LOL!

That's pretty awesome that the CM was so great with both of the girls. And even better, he was teaching them about lots of poop! Hahaha, amazing.

Like Matt said, we still haven't made it back to Rafiki's Planet Watch, but we'll have to check it out at some point! There's so much to do in AK that I feel like I forgot about because I'm too busy riding EE or being terrified by Dinosaurs.:faint:

Umm Brynn and Julia are BRAVE touching that snake. Yeah, not happening on my front... ever.

Ya know, I like Disney pizza. It's not the most amazing thing you'll ever eat, but it gets the job done. :thumbsup2

Hahaha, looks like you guys got your own form of Kali River Rapids in the rain. I can't believe how much rain there is, it's like you guys were walking through lakes! I would've laughed, too, laughter kind of just makes everything better in those situations.

Breakfast quesadilla left in the car? No bueno... and I've totally been there.

I have no idea where the heck you guys are going but I can't wait to find out!

That CM sounds awesome. How adorable! Even if the subject is poop.

I'm gonna say the name Refecca came from the fact that said panda was purchased as RaFiki's... similar names, just getting creative. Brynn is a GENIUS.

I've been meaning to make it over to Rafiki's for years, but I've NEVER DONE IT. I want to pet some goats, dangit!

Thanks for sharing the pictures! :goodvibes Love your belly!
Thanks!:goodvibes

Wonderful pics! :)
You're so sweet!:lovestruc

Nice update! Animal kingdom is my favorite park! :lovestruc love the animals, it has my favorite ride ( expedition everest), and i love the atmosphere!
It is definitely growing on us! We love it more each time we visit, as there is always something new to explore!

Ah a Dismeet sounds like an awesome awesome awesome idea. Especially since I've never had one!!
 Awesome! I've only ever had an unintentional one where Heather thought I was a stalker! We've met up again since then, but that was to deliver Girl Scout cookies. Can't wait!

You sound like me! I remember a cool fact for about a week...and by that time I'm not even home yet:lmao:!
See? You guys would fit right in with our family! :thumbsup2

Just chiming in and sayin' a DISmeet should happen (ps I'm the "Dani" Jenn is referring to, hahaha)! :thumbsup2

YAY! Thank you so much! What a compliment! I promise I'll hurry along with the next update. I already have the photos in photobucket, so now I just have to find some time to sit down and finish the day.

:rotfl2: That is too funny!!!!
(Also, at first I read that as ef-fing...as in what you say when you don't want to drop the f-bomb. That's my dirty mouth surfacing, I guess!)

See, I refuse to be scared by Dinosaurs anymore, so it opened up a bit of time.
We don't tend to stick around in AK very long, so it was our first time there. We just get to stuff when we get to it in that park.
I like Disney pizza a lot. It's thick, good sauce; what's not to love!? Than again, I'm no pizza snob.
I'm glad you've got the same view of laughter as me; it makes life better, definitely.

YOU ARE BRILLIANT!!:cool1: I'd bet a million dollars that she got the name from Rafiki's!
Go pet some goats. It's good for the soul.:thumbsup2
