One of the deal blogs I read is reporting double coupons at some wal-marts. I don't normally shop there, but I might have to give them a shot if they start doing this.

i have never heard of any wal-mart doubling coupons. i would tend to believe that your information is incorrect.

No, the information is correct, it's just a matter of what (very limited) markets are doing it. It started at 7 stores in Utah, on Tuesdays only to match a competitor:

Several deal blogs have reported that it has spread, just no one has a comprehensive list of where. There's a specific poster displayed on the door of stores that are doing it, but I just visited the local one and it's not here.

My local store is one of the trial stores doubling coupons. The trial is supposed to last for 2-3 months. Currently they're doubling to 0.99, but boy do the cashiers hate seeing coupons now! They have to have the coupons before they start ringing your items because they have to look for each "couponed" item. The computers can't ring it up as a double coupon so they have to do a price adjustment for the price of the coupon and then they ring the coupon up as they normally would. I hope that this program is successful! :cool1:

No stores in Florida double to my knowlege. I would be surprised if Walmart was the first.

We were at walmart today and it was a mad house. Today was the last day of tax free days and to top it off, the systems at the store went down and they could not accept anything except cash. They directed people to the ATM machine only to learn that was not working either. Lots of people leaving carts full. Sadly, the front end supervisors were left to deal with the mayhem as the managers we all upstairs trying to reach corporate. It was not a good afternoon.

Our local walmart used to never match the buy one get one free ads of competitors but they have now started doing so. I think the double coupon craze is taken away some of thier business.

Mind if I ask which Walmart? I am in western pa and some parts of WV are just a hop away....might be worth it for big shopping. Thanks.

wow! I do stand corrected.

As horrible as WM is about taking face-value coupons, I would sure hate to try doubling there. Eeeeesh. But...WOW!

They are not doubling here in Missouri. Although that sure would be nice!

Mine aren't but I wish they would. No one doubles here and that makes it hard to maximize grocery savings.

This is the Hurricane, WV store--between Charleston and Huntington. I would make a call to your local stores and see if they're participating in the trial. I hope they are!

This is a little off topic, but Walmart stores in certain states are discounting gas .10 a gallon if you use a gift card. I buy the gift card when I shop and fill up as I leave. I have a 26 gallon tank so it is a nice savings.

The Cross Lanes store is also doubling.

WOW! I wonder if the others in our part of the state are participating? At this store, they told me that Kroger was taking too much business from them. Our Kroger is always busy-but then again, so is Wal-Mart!:lmao:

From what I've read, there are 13 stores in Eastern WV that are participating. The ones I know of are Huntington, Barboursville and Spencer, WV stores. They are doubling up to .99. There is some confusion as to whether they are allowing overage. So YMMV.

Parkersburg, WV is too- Southside & Vienna locations.

They allow overage as long as the "double" isn't giving it. So if you have a .55c coupon for something that is a $1, they'll adjust the price to .55c and scan the coupon, making it free.

It takes a ridiculously long time to check out, I've made 2 trips and spent about $50 on $250ish worth of stuff.
