Hi Everyone: I am looking to book next Christmas (2007) and thought we might stay at the WL for a few nights during Christmas week. I realize the rates are not out yet, but just checked mousesavers to get an idea of what it might be.

Should I really expect to pay $675 a night. Is that what people are truly paying or do I need to do something to get that rate down. Even if AAA rate was available, wouldn't that only save about $60 - $70?

Am I doing something wrong in calculating this? I guess I am totally shocked that the rooms are that expensive.
We always stay offsite ---basically for the extra room, but wanted to stay onsite for a few nights just to see the decorations.

Any info/advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks.
Heatherc

P.S. We wouldn't qualify for a resident rate, and don't have AP's - although depending on how much it might save me, I'd consider it. But would they even be available then in all likelihood?

Looks like rates are out for next Christmas on the website. I just looked up the price for a standard room and it is about $400 a night.

We're leaving in the morning (Saturday, Dec 16th) for a few days. It is not worth paying holiday rack rates it in my opinion. We will be staying at FW Cabins at $170± per night with the AP rate. The Contemporary was $220± during this same time. Exactly 7 days from now these rates will undoubtedly double or maybe more. It's a great weekend to go, not a lot of traffic, yet all of the xmas lights and decorations are up. You may want to consider this same time next year for drastic savings.

Yes, that's $675 per nite for the fanciest room during xmas week!

save yourself a lot of money by going the weeks before and using a AAA or even an AP discount mightr be worth it.

Thank you so much for your replies! Wow that's a lot of money for a bed. The reason I priced that room was because there are 5 of us and I don't think the standard rooms sleep 5.

Would consider going before Xmas, but with the kids and school and parties, etc.., I think we are considering after. We also tend to go for about 10 days.

Thanks again.

There are a couple of alternatives for you. I believe you can put 5 in a room at riverside. And there are suites at allstars. You may also consider renting points to get into a deluxe at DVC for a nice rate. You will definetly need to plan ahead for renting points at that time of year.

Thanks...I knew about the other resorts, but we wanted to stay at WL. Guess that won't happen now...and truthfully, I'm ok with that. I would be kicking myself the whole time about paying that much for a hotel room. Just a personal choice since we go so often.

We are staying at the new Bonnet Creek in another month or so and are considering staying there again in December. Even their 4 bedroom villa isn't as much money as WL for that time.

Thanks again to everyone.
