Is WDW better on the 2nd trip?

We are heading down on our first trip to WDW soon (less than 30 days now) for Christmas. We are very excited about this but I'm a bit overwhelmed. :worried: We watched the video, borrowed books from the library, did the research on the internet, etc., etc. However I really don't know what to expect?

I guess I'm being a little bit neurotic and worrying about whether we are going to miss something while we are there. Did we pick the right resturants? Do I really understand the transportation system and dining plan? Not knowing the size and scope of this place, bus schedules, etc., etc. Especially with the anticipated holiday crowds.

Do you find that your second, third, or nth trip is more relaxing? In otherwords you know what you like and don't like and can plan things better?

I guess just another excuse to make ANOTHER trip to Disney.

Yes, for my family, it gets better & better with each trip. Just keep in mind that you will never get to see/do it all in one trip. Try to relax some, & enjoy everything that you do get to do.

We recently joined DVC & my family has three trips planned for next year. At this point, the only thing I get nervous about it making our ADRs. After that is over with, I don't get nervous until about 2 weeks before our trip.

Have a great trip!! I'm jealous that you get to go so soon!!

It does keep getting better and better. :)

My one suggestion to you would be to please DO NOT worry about missing something. There NO WAY you can see and do it all in one trip. Go in accepting that, enjoy everything you are able to do and see, and start planning the next trip when you get home. :teeth:

Yes, I definitely think my second trip was better than my first. On my first trip, we only were there for a few days, and it was so overwhelming. But even if we'd been there a week the first time, I still probably would have been overwhelmed because I just wasn't used to it yet.

But on my second trip, I kind of knew what to expect, and could relax more. Plus I knew if I missed anything else, I could schedule another trip. :)

Yes, for our family subsequent trips have been better and more relaxed. The first trip we were so busy trying to find our way around and trying to do it all we forget we were supposed to be having a good time sometimes. Not that we didn't have a great time, but definitely overwhelming.

We went this last Sept and we just seem to feel like we "got" it this time. We are already, hopefully, planning on going again next Aug. Even planning seems to be less overwhelming!

But, the magic of the first time is just something you can never compare to. Go and enjoy!

Thanks for responding -- This might be off-topic for this post but is DVC a discounted rate? I'm sure after a few trips we will have OUR GAME PLAN down ... LOL!

Yes it gets better because you know the lay of the land so to speak.

But like a pp said, don't worry if you don't see everything even everything on your list vs everything in the world because you won't.

Have a great first trip & don't stress about it, just eat, ride, look, eat, ride, look, eat, eat, eat oh & eat.

Yes We didn't know about the DIS or anyting else I just did some other park planning on my own. The more I learded the easier it got but I was always taking small steps to get to where we are today.

You however are starting with every bit of info avail but really nothing tangable to put to it so it seems overwelming. It will all be worth it when you get down and can just flow through your vacation and not waist a bunch of time making decisions or going in circles.

You will find your likes and dislikes the more you go and that will also take off some of the stress.

DVC is Disney Vacation Club.

It's Disneys form of a Timeshare if thats what you were asking.

DVC refers to the "Disney Vacation Club". It's sort of like a timeshare. If you are staying onsite, you will see a counter, probably in the lobby, with info. & cast members who explain about DVC to guests.

Hi from another NewEnglander!!! :wave2:

To answer your question-yes. Each trip gets better. Our first trip I read the books and "planned" what I could. I think we had 2 sit down meals planned for the whole week. Now we do an ADR each day, knowing that dining is quite a bit of the whole experience as well.

Don't worry about missing anything. Just know you will. And it's ok, because you'll be back ;)

WDW is overwhelming. I remember my first thought-it is HUGE. And so spread out. I had read that, but until you actually are there it is so hard to imagine. Don't worry about the transportation-if you have questions ask a CM, they are more than happy to help you.

Where did you pick to dine? What are some of your plans? I'd love to hear them!!!

Enjoy your trip!!

Hi...another New Englander here...just subscribing. I am in the process of planning for our second trip in June. I am curious also to see if it's a little more relaxed than the first trip. :cool1:

THere is so much to do at Disney and see, that I imagine you could keep yourself busy every family trip.

Take a deep breath ,,,,relax....I am sure after all of your investigations, reading this disboards,, you made the best deciscions.

Just remember ......always pack a clean pair of undies in flight bag :confused3 not sure why but that is what my mom does? Did I mention she is over 70,,,,and truly I have no idea why. Those pearls of wisdom were told to me tonight as we talked about my upcoming trip. I think maybe she is scared that i WILL GET STRANDED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON AT THE airport without a pair of clean undies......... :confused3

Hope that didi not add to your confusion :rotfl2:

im so glad to hear every ones replies weve only been once but I am in the proccesse of planning our next trip I know my kids talk about what they want to do next time all the time where they want to eat and things they want to do, and we went last year in Jan/Feb. Disney is something that doesnt leave you it changes who you are. Ive been many beautiful places but for some reason none of them have stayed in my heart the way Disney does!
Have a Great trip! :wizard:

Our first two trips were several years apart, so it felt like a first trip both times. Our third trip was within a year of the second and it was so much more relaxed. But, I wouldn't say it was better. A little of the magic was actually gone for me because I knew what to expect and what I wanted to do. It wasn't quite as "adventuresome". Definately go with the plan that you'll be back soon, because it will take out some of the stress of having to "do everything."
