And if so, what is a good time for seating, with that in mind? Do I need to specify outdoor seating?

Thanks.

WCT is the place where you can get a good view of the Pixar Play Parade - if the circumstances are in your favor. Disney Dining used to not ask you to choose indoor or outdoor seating for WCT when making a PS over the phone, but apparently, now they are asking people to choose, according to several reliable DIS-ers. We got lucky when we went to WCT in December, at night. It was 40 degrees and we were the only crazy people who wanted to sit outside. We are all from California but the hostess/CM thought we must be from a cold state if we could tolerate sitting outside!! So they put us at the best table, kind of along the perimeter of the patio - overlooking the parade. Now you are not eye level with the parade; you kind of look down on it a little, but it is a good view. The thing is, unless you get seated at one of those specific tables right along the outside perimeter of the patio, you won't see the parade. There are other outdoor tables that offer no view of it whatsoever.

So I am inclined to think it is timing and luck. If you go at a time when lots of folks are dining outside, you may not get a prime table unless you are willing to wait a long time for people to clear out. But it is worth a try!

is the pixar parade the only one you can view there? I was actually thinking the electric parade, but I don't know if they do dining that late? We'll be eating lunch at the celebration BBQ that day and I imagine we'll be quite full from that, so we could probably eat pretty late and be fine with that.

That's a good question - we only saw the Pixar parade there. I could be wrong - hopefully someone will pop in and confirm or deny - but I would assume that the Electrical Parade goes by there and that WCT probably has some later seatings, like in the 8:30 area. But I just don't know for sure, and I don't know what time the Electrical Parade begins.

Yes you would be able to watch the Electric Parade from there. However the restaurant may close early or worse they could give those seats to VIPs who pay for dinner and the parade as they have in the past.

I prefer bringing something to sit on and parking at the wharf with my back to the fence. i would also bring dinner from one of the restaurants. Then I would be inches from the floats at times, see the faces of the characters and dancers, and experience it like a kid instead of in some high up perch.

You can book a dessert package which seats you at the wine country trattoria for the electric parade - you receive a glass of wine with it, and the tables are on the terrace right be the railing. The Ep doesn't get that crowded, but it still is a great viewing spot. It's the same kind of thing as fantasmic, and you use the same phone number to book - but it doesn't sell out so fast.
